  • Would sound great without all the distortion on the soundtrack.

  • Yes ! really nice job.

Kansas was a task to play. we were always going over their material before a gig.

  • The time signiatures on this song are insane.

  • In case you haven't found them yet there are a couple "Mysteries and Mayhem" and "Carry On Wayward Son" posted! I'm trying to get the posters to post more but no luck yet! "Mysteries" is awesome with a long solo in the middle by Rags on violin and guitar! Find and enjoy!

  • Anybody got any clips of Kansas, "Live At The Whiskey"? Supposedly, a DVD or VHS was made of this concert, but I can't find it.

  • Thanks Men-Let us know when you will do more ?

Nice, hard work, and time, huh ? KANSAS !!!

  • Great job guys. It is a tough song to pull of live for sure.

  • I meant "pull off".

  • the dude playing the bass was playing some if not allot of parts wrong and slow i can play this song almost note for damn note its depressing that a 18 year old can out play this guy

  • It is an easy song to play along with the record or cd. I'd like to see some footage of your band doing the song on stage.

  • well thats besides the point if i cant play the song note for note i dont even try to play it live cause that would be moronic if you cant play the song right and you do it live plus anyways the Bass line is the easiest thing to hear in the song it baffles me why he cant play it right but i will say this it is a hard song to play live didnt ever say it wasnt so you can get that out of your head its just that he should know how to play the song first before trying to play it live

  • Point well taken. I play in a cover band myself and always try to learn the songs note for note with a bit of embellishment. Some of the Metallica stuff you do is beyond me though. I love Cliff Burton but cannot even come close to doing what he did.

  • yeah only one song i played CLiff played the other was when jason was with them but Cliff wrote the song they are still a good band in my eyes just need to stop with the new stuff and hope that that jason in the new album sets them right but i love all kinds of music not so much rap though i like 2pac he was good but i love me some old rock and metal and even todays metal but its all right if you dont like it all lol

  • It seems to me like he's playing his own version, probably inspired by some live ones he's heard along with the studio stuff. A mish-mash. He uses a 5 string and Dave Hope just used a 4, so that alone is going to lend it a different vibe. There's always the real Kansas when you want to hear it like it was on the CD.....

  • Great job. It's nice to see a band take a stab at this type of music. I think Kansas would have been proud of your efforts. Nice improvising considering it is just the 4 of you.

  • He's not self indulgent on keys. You get tired of trying to learn every single note and improvise some. Completing that song from top to bottom, even with some change, is admireable. All the guys were great at it too. It does seem like the drummer is the only one fairly off but those time signature changes are the hardest on the drummer so he gets an A also for great work. Let's see most drummers try to do even half that song. Remember, the original version has two keyboardists playing.

  • There was an intro that preceded the main tune.

  • Really great.....except the drummers a little off and a little too loud. Keyboardist and bassest are awsome!

  • Incredible. How I heard of Kansas, was when my cousin's old excellent band (Schwantz Lefantz) was trying to learn the tune. It's the one tune I know of that then never covered because they couldn't pull it off. And they pulled off Zappa, Dan, and King Crimson (21st Century Schizoid Man) and mucho other intricit stuff.

And I love that The Ladder t-shirt on that guitarist ...

  • The keyboards used on "Song for America" the song were: Moog Minimoog and ARP 2600 series synthesizers, Hammond B3 organ and a generic grand piano.

  • From my recollection the problem wasn't keyboard voicing, they just couldn't learn the song.

  • Actually Steve Walsh played a Hammond B3, Arp Pro Soloist and Kerry used a Cp-80 piano, Arp Strings and a Korg Ps-3100 which can be confused with an Arp 2600 by the way it looks. Remember the Arp 2600 was then very expensive.

  • Not too shabby. I enjoyed it. Sounded better than some versions Kansas has done, especially on a night when the mix is shitty. Maybe not letter perfect, but an enjoyable version anyway. Kudos.

  • Solid effort.

  • keyboard player is a bit self indulgent eh and dude you 're hitting some clunkers and missing a few phrases and cuts. People in this country think anything is good if it has some measure of difficulty. Steve and Kerry have nothing to worry about

  • Good job, are you guys a Kansas tribute? hope to see moore from you soon.... Thor!

  • Nice job, guys! You had some balls to tackle that one and did a pretty damn good job!
