You know this is a GREAT movie for reasons I don't think people can fully understand. So much had happened to these two men seprately and when they came together they made Caligari. Sadly the studio took liberties with therir story that they didn't want to be taken. THIS trailes is so pretious and utterly lacking in thought.."Tweaked and mutilated" by DOCTOR X. As if thats some something to be so proud of. "In a country gripped with war"? "In the time between 2 monsters"?
Rob Zombie? Are you serious? So you'll rent this cuz it influenced Rob Zombie (doubt it, he's a hack) and you saw it on youtube? *sigh* Just rent "The Crow" for the bizillionth time. I might sound mean but I just can't stand people who horn in on good things just because someone famous made it "trendy". UGH.
You're right about Tim Burton, I've heard the same. Just comparing the footage of Caligari and Batman Returns is proof. The penguin looks very similar to Doctor X, and the buildings have that same odd German expressionist look. (P.S. to NYCPANCAKES - quit putting yourself up on a pedestal because you've seen an early horror film. People are inspired to watch for many different reasons you jackass.)
portlandia made me watch this..

ha ha, I like how this movie was incorporated into the show Portlandia. "You are cursed until you can get some1 to watch The Legend of Caligari".

This, I believe is the movie that inspired Rob Zombie to make his music video 'Living Dead Girl'. I might rent this movie on NetFlicks actually.

Doctor X?!?!
WHO THE F$?K IS DOCTOR X?!?
THE FILM'S NAME IS "DAS CABINET DES DR. CALIGARI" - SO I GUESS THE DOCTER'S NAME IS " CALIGARI" AND NOT "X"....
