I sang this song in my church service tonight ... and for someone to come to me after and say that they could feel my love for God through the song, it just makes me feel like I did exactly what God wanted me to do.
This song, more than any other, is my all-time favorite in the world. Thank you Gerald Wolfe! You are amazing!
Goooood Lord, that was great. On that same program, Gerald sang a song I believe was called "Homeland". The chorus started out with "Oh that city called Homeland, I can hear it calling me. Oh, that Homeland. Oh, how sweet it's gonna be. Just to see him, and to look upon his face......" That's all I can remember, but I have been looking for that song for years. Any help?
I love this song!!! Thanks so much for adding it. I actually was friends with Gerald when he was with the Cathedrals. Haven't seen him in a while, but this makes me realize how much we miss him around here, and just how awesome he really is!!! It of course helped that he sang and played with the best quartet southern gospel music has ever known. Makes me realize too how much i miss George and Glen!!!!! You know they are having a wonderful time in Heaven, can you just imagine?!
So glad I found this video...Attended a concert last night saw all 3 in different groups...Gerald with Greater Vision...Mark with The Mark Trammel Trio and then the concert opened with Danny Funderbuck doing some solo songs....A great Concert...
I've often wondered . . . do you suppose Danny and Gerald knew when this video was done, that they were such tremendous conveyors of the Holy Spirit? To be aware of the Spirit manifesting itself thru you is beyond comprehension. I don't know what type of people either have developed into, and don't know if the music business ever overshadows their witness, but I'm hoping it does not.
This is absolutely a beautiful song with a lot of meaning. I'm so glad to have come across this video. Thanks for posting. I guess these guys was before Ernie Haase and Scott Flowler????
Yes, this was essentially the last lineup prior to the Ernie, Scott, & Roger days. The baritone (with the bass guitar) was Mark Trammell, and the tenor was Danny Funderburk. Ernie replaced Danny in 1990, and just a couple of months later, Mark left and they hired Scott Fowler.
I noticed on other clips from this concert that there noticible sound problems...sounds like George is saying or actually yelling to one of the sound techs right after the last note...something like "Don't run this up the side, leave me on(off)!" I love it!
Beautiful song, Gerald Wolfe is a good friend of mine. A wonderful young Christian man, good singer also. They were lucky to have him join their group. I have enjoyed them very much. Thanks for posting this one.
I love these two man of God, and this song. Christians in Philippines love listening to Cathedral group esp. when Bro. Payne and Younce sing together.
You should hear DayBreak's version. It was recorded in a concert. The guy singing the song musta accidentally sung part of the second verse when he was singing the first. They obviously didn't edit it out.

Truly Danny is the most recognizable God-given voice in gospel music. May he be in good health always. More power and wisdom from above Danny!
