  • Weres the ridig!!

  • Definitely the greatest supercross race ever, plus the one from La Collosium at the end of the same season. Ricky Johnson vs Guy Cooper

  • The first song " The Final Countdown " was a amazing song for this actually.. its not a gay song at all. it completely makes sense with the video. this was a song from the 80s too.

  • There was nothing like the sound of a swarm of killer 2 stroke bees reeving up just as the gate drops down!!!!! sweet music those 2 strokes made. Supercross is shit now with those stupid 4 strokes!!

  • Supercross changed so much

  • hondas suck ass bro yamaha is the way to go

  • @yz250fracer55 I have to say now days yes but back in the 70`s and 80`s honda ruled the motocross tracks!! I raced a 83' cr-480 and a 87' cr-500 in the open a class .bring back the 500cc two strokes!!!! I MISS THAT VIOLENT POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I ride a 1988 Cr250. same bikes the raced in this race except 2 years younger. no wonder A Honda won the race! :)

  • @CjBiker88 Holy cow! Those were 250s???? I ride a 1986 CR250!! That's amazing! And I thought it was some old cheap dirt bike!

  • @twistedkeys1 Its quite amazing actually. Though its getting harder and harder to find somone on one, I've heard of a few people still breaking out CR480s for the open class. I had an 85 CR125 that (granted, was overbored considerably,) that has more power than my friends 01-02-03 CR125s. You definitely get a better bike with overall with a newer one, but if your good, you can still win on those old CRs. They definitely have the power.

  • @tvangess No doubt haha, literally every time I talk to another dirt rider he always says "Wow is that the '86? I remember when those came out! Coolest bikes on the market, and still are some of the best dirt bikes Honda ever made". :)

  • shows how much supercross has changed. Are you sure the narrator was a guy?!

  • I was there. Both riders almost lapped everyone

  • I was at this race & it was insane...........lil professor showed lil ricky how it's done.........wish I could listen to those sweet 2 stroke motors instead of that

    Gay music jeez.....final contdown, R U serious?

  • @toxsickdog LMAO,, I agree about the gay music!!!! Don't know why ppl do that

  • I like the gridgirls of today better :)

  • thats a hot chick at 1:04 lol

  • i would rather hear this guys voice than the 2 strokes!!!

  • Atlanta '90 was the best race ever.

  • No way. Ive been watching motocross and supercross since the 70s, and the 1990 Atlanta was the best race ever.

  • Awesome race. Super gay song selection. Final Countdown??? Ugh.

  • I bet those bikes weight like 1000 pounds,

  • @Skater4Enjoi4 : They were lighter than a modern 450.

  • 1:33 says it all. i dont know if ever there has been a harder human to human collision in supercross.

  • Johnson and Bailey, the 2 best supercross riders ever. Carmichael, Stewart and McGrath, eat your heart out.

  • aaah the days when fours trokes werent around :D

  • @nick26695 the days 4-strokes werent even thought about haha

  • why do you have to put this shitty overplayed song on a good video

  • awsome battles :O

  • NOt only great ryders, also the best BIke ever 1986 "the rocket" CR 250 R honda.

  • my names derek bailey, i like to think im some how related 2 david bailey....llol

  • Great clip. I remember that, and was heavy into riding at the time. What an epic battle.

Definetly one of, if not the best race battles of all time. Up there with some of Magoo's amazing runs. Among others. Wardy was always a blast to watch as well. Sure miss the days of the big 2 stroke battles.

  • funny how these younger guys talk trash about the old races, put them on the old bricks they used to race in the 80's and a chopped up track, and they would have some respect for the era.

  • gotta love the old snappy 2 strokes haha

  • wow wish i could race back then id be pro lol. these guys are casing all the jumps just about. and are slow at all corners.

    mx changed alooottt

  • @staticxmako hahaha!!! ud get fucked in the ass u pitiful broke joke!!! lmmfao!!

  • @staticxmako The track was actually difficult then now it's long straights that are smoothed out with a Bulldozer and you just jump as far as you can back then jumping too far made you slower and it was about timing.

  • @staticxmako u wud b shet on lele

  • @staticxmako of course because you could sling a 20 year old 250 which would have handled like crap around a hard ass supercross track

  • My hair stands up on the back of my neck just thinking about that race,,, TooHip v The Bandit... The Best Of The Best!!

  • Damn! The 30 second board girls got a lot better looking over the years!

  • @pavlos999 haha thats true

  • @pavlos999 lol

  • them bikes and riders took a beating that night

  • the song is so fucking anoying!!!!!

    Sorry for my bad english

  • that track looks horrible i feel bad for those riders lol

  • MY MOM TOOK ME OUT OF SCHOOL TO SEE THIS RACE, IT WAS TRULY A MEMORY I'LL NEVER EVER FORGET. "HONDA" AN ADDICTION I WELCOMED !

A LOVE NEVER LOST, RICKY JOHNSON, DAVID BAILEY YOU ARE MY HEROES!

  • I WAS @ THIS RACE & LOST MY VOICE, DAVID & RICKY HAD EVERY ONE IN AWW..

    THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!

  • WHOS VOICE ? ANNOYING? HE! HE !HE ! YOU GUYS WHERE JUST SUCKING MILK MOMMY TRYING TO CHANGE UR PAMPERS AT THAT TIME . KIDS DONT TRY THIS AT HOME !!!!

  • fucking homo just run the fucking race dont chat shit.

  • Whats the song called at the begging of the video

    great video

  • @Mx4life4ever

    The Final Countdown by Europe.

  • I was there! Definitely one of the best battles of all time in Supercross.

  • this dudes voice is annoying as fuck!

  • pornyelite74 I aint bin in canada fore longe so sorry

  • During all those years only a few "mad" kids were able to watch supercross with satellite tv. I was one of them and I was 14 in '86.

I think most people miss those years, probable the most exciting and true years of supercosss.

End of '80s and first '90 have been the very best years os motosports not only off but on road.

Lets feel happy for having lived those years "live".

    BR

  • Yep, I was also 14 in '86... I raced BMX all through the 80's, but I watched supercross at every available chance!

That was a great era of both BMX and Moto-X racing! It was just a great time to be alive and a young kid!

  • great video

  • yeah..but then the french fukker came in and made them all look slow...jean michel bayle.!

  • The track were toghter back then . I boroded a movie it was supercross from 85 86 87 88

  • @MegaBmx3 your english sucks yo.. whats boroded? and toghter?

  • horrible fake british accent. great race tho!

  • Dungy and villi are kickin butt. I remember watching this race i was in 3rd grade lol i always wonder if bailey didnt get hurt if ricky would have won the series?

  • I'll tell u who is faster then stewart, ryan dungy. stewart is a squid.

  • i second that...but villipoto has them both...haha dungey and rv could go back and forth

  • the magic supercross..it's fantastic

  • sometimes its not purely the machine.... its sheer talent..

  • beast race

  • Not the Greatest Race Ever. Many races were better than this one.

  • which race for example?

    friendly, peter from belgium

  • both pairs of riders are as good as one another, the older riders are better because they rode machines that were made to go fast and not handle, the modern riders ride bikes to a serious speed that can not be matched. i always prefer the older riders because they could ride very primative bikes extremely fast.

  • ya they obv r gunna compare them to modern riders like every1 duz to modern football players nd older ones. give the new guys cred they r probably way faster nd crazier then the old ones the old ones did pave the way but stewart c'mon dude he is amazing seriously no1 is faster but u can argue that,

  • Look , the older more experienced riders are always better. Take for instance, the legendary Malcolm Smith. He still wins the baja 1000 every time he runs it! and the guy is in his 70s! Someone like stewart, has no life outside of racing. The old school racers in the day mingled with the crowds! they were just better at what they did. so lets leave the "i wonder how they would fare against modern riders" comments out of the argument . apples and oranges people.

  • Why do people want to compare these guys to the modern racers? Just remember that these two will always be better than the modern racers cause they did what they did in a time when you didnt bitch about track conditions and the bike you were rideing was alot harder to ride. Newer bikes do most of the work for the rider. The older bikes make you feel every thing they do. They didnt jump as well, they had better power and they were heavyer.

  • Do you even ride??, cuz that comment "NEWER BIKES DO MOST OF THE WORK FOR THE RIDER" fuck you!!!, riding these machines is not an easy task, well without killing yourself. but you are welcome to try.

  • No it really doesn' make you wonder because if u know anything about motocross you would know that a two stroke doesn't nessicarilly flip you backwards like everyone thinks, they just jump into their power band quickly

  • yeah haha

  • those are also 2 smokes, with a power hit and doesnt it make you wonder how the bikes dont do uncontrolled wheelies?

  • i honestly think these 2 guys would be right there with j stewart and reed? how could they not be,,there determination to win(the 2 of them) was incredable and i have yet to see a race to match it

  • It would be interesting to see what kind of numbers these 2 guys would have racked up had they avoided being injured.

Also, I wonder how they would fair (when in their prime) against Carmichael, McGrath, or Stewart??

  • now that would be an awsome race..should make a video game based on that like fantasy football. choose your faverit riders on your faverit bike and pit them up against the best of all time

  • i like how they battle and its a great race just i wish it was this race with the new technolegy bikes and jumps

  • so much more exciting than seeing james stewart win every race

  • most correct statement ever

  • yes it is

  • only my faamily going before moto cross my family and motocross is my life

  • that track looks so fast

  • best race to ever go down!

  • ricky johnson is a class act

  • i reckon the ama supercross track designers should bring back tracks like these. they r so much more fun to watch riders on it and it looks SO AWESOME!!!!!

  • What's with the fake voice???

  • this is sik

  • This battle is THE STORY OF SUPERCROSS!!! 2 NUMBER ONE!!!

  • Definitely the best race of all time in terms of passes for the lead. But I think Washugal 06 with Stewart and Carmichael was the best race I've ever seen.

  • Tracks where so much more brutal back then.

  • i love this video. all FAMOUS talking and (wow) u need to be strong 5x to ride that bikes. is not like 2009 with that suspension which take the bike u!

  • the fucking voice sounds annoying as hell

  • that was a good race my dad watched it

  • we look at these guys and laugh, i ccant wait till i see what my kids'll be riding LOL

they'll see my new fuel injected four stroke and laugh... AHA

  • sounds like Will Ferral lol

  • That was a purely awsome race thanks 4 the add ;)

  • Who's gay voice is that on the narration? haha.

  • They should have rounded up Larry Huffman for this vid, Larry was the race

announcer that night & He killed,

  • @Kelleymuro your moms

  • My glory days ov moto-x, these men were aww inspiring, brave fast and extremly skilled. They set the standard, we tried as schoolboy motoxers to achieve. The day i did a 50ft table top on my honda 125 ten times i will never forget. the bar has been raised! that s evolution. luv this sport forever!!!

  • Yeah, those were the days... I remember I went to Anaheim in 87 and nearly cried when I heard Bailey was paralyzed. THEN on top of that, Johnson missed a jump and was knocked out cold. He was OK, but in light of Baileys injury, it was pretty scary...

  • tyvm for posting this!

  • Comment removed

  • thats awesome

  • i was there, ricky johson was a faster rider than bailey and always will be,. prolly one of the fastest riders of all time

  • uploaded a video of me racing my 125 in an open class motocross, check out my page!

  • RICKY THREW ME HIS GOGGLES THAT NITE!

  • Your so lucky!

  • LMFAOO!!!!!

  • Wow, that WAS a great race. Bailey and Johnson are awesome. Pretty good commentators too.

  • I actually have this race on video johnson and bailey are legands you just don't see this type of racing anymore its more about who's got the best motorhome and 4stroke

  • Carmichael and Stewart seemed to do it just about every race in the 2006 outdoor season.

  • i would do anything to have that supercross ticket at the end.

  • That was fuckin AMAZING

  • its caalled 'the final countdown' by Europe

  • whats the name of the song in the beginning

  • the comentater at the start is a bit of a fag lol

  • Cool video. I met & spoke shortly with Rick Johnson at a coffee Shop in San Diego while we were both waiting for a table. He's a Class guy all the way!

  • really great race

  • Aneheim supercross is awesome. It's like a religion down there.

  • I liked that 1996 suppercross with Jeremy Mcgrath in Houston when Emig and Hughs past mcgrath and were going to break his win streak then they took each other out.

  • i used to have rick johnson as a toy! when i was 3 and i still have it now!

  • Great race!Great riders...I remember well those days.

    Giuliano from Italy

  • if you think about it it's Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart now haha

  • Two of the best MX racers of all time...no doubt about it !!

  • AWSOME !

  • ohhhhhhhhh what the guy doing......awsome

  • announcer sounds like a bit of a knob

  • Had to turn my sound down b/c the anouncers voice was sooo gay

wtf was that an edgar allan poe anouncer w/80's music

    what???

  • I was at this Race & It was an epic battle.

WFO from start to finish, Larry Huffman went berserk! Best I ever seen.

INCIDENTLY, the 2ND best race I ever seen was the '81 125/250 Nationals

when Hannah & Howerton brawled it out at Saddleback Park. God I miss racing at that Track. Saddleback Saturdays ruled!

  • that track is no joke!great video!thanx

  • ya its pretty close to what they race today except for those speed bump sort of jumps that they slow down for. for the bikes back then that musta have been nuts!

  • There called woops man.

    Lol.

  • I'm not talking about the whoops and i know what those are dude, believe me I race. I mean the 6 feet tall vertical walls that they don't jump or anything just roll. They put them into the Supercross track layouts last SX season and it was stupid.

  • those guys are AWESOME!!!!!

  • i was at that race man makes me feel old!!!great to be able to see classics like that!do you have any vids of the hurricain vs marty smith?

  • if LN is putting classic motocross why can't they dig through the USHRA, TNT, USA motorsports archives and put some classic monster truck mud bog and tractor pulling videos on youtube

  • cause he doesnt wanna waste his time. thats why.

  • and what is wrong with the classic monster trucks. Some of us on this board like BiteMeStudios , and diggerfanjsb have been tryin to get rare and never before monster truck footage from 1984 to 1998

  • i remember this

  • Please release more classic SX!
