Cool video nice to now know what that really is when you drive by it i never knew it was a mansion i just thought it was some old tower for idk what purpose really neat tho
My grandmother was in there before it burned down. In fact, I think the Hall family (though tainted by rumors/convictions of money embezzlement and scamming) is still living... They never connected him to the fire, either. Oh, and the property is owned, currently, by his son or grandson or some such. And yes, it is private land. Also, the tower, I believe, was meant to be one of those musical instruments, it starts with a C... Can't remember what it's called now, though. Correct me if I'm wrong.
That check has to be a fake! With the amount of teenagers partying there and all the other traffic in and out of there someone else would have clearly seen this laying there.
John Hall was a nut ball and a thief. His ski lodge burned down, his stupid house burned down and he scammed his father out of money. This tower was part of his house. The property is now owned by someone esle and it is private land so keep out.
Great video, guys. I blogged it at Joe Brainard's Pyjamas (the Sequel). You did a great job of just letting the ruins talk for themselves. You kept an air of mystery. I kept expecting you to be slaughtered by mutants though. I watch too many of those types of movies lol.
I'm good friends with a handful of the Halls - the family that lived there. The "What's This" at the beginning was a Squasch court - some kind of ball game.
I could ask them for pre-burn pics. My Mom was in the mansion before it burnt down and says it was extravagant.
If you have any more questions, please let me know - I will answer them myself of ask the Halls.
"we're gonna do this and then we're gonna get outta here"... rookies... i used to go there all the time when in high school. '95/'96 at that time you could get in to the main house without any difficulty. while now it seems like anytime you drive down the road the police are there within 5 to 10 minutes.
just went there last week. it's all gated now but you can still climb through the windows and around the gate. It does look like someone stores there stuff back there now. When we went there was an older bmw in the back yard, with a couple tarps around.
Speaking to the comment of factually incorrect. His name was Ernie and one of the best skaters around. Unfortunatley he did pass and he was my friend.
As someone who went to that house as a family friend, this video is pretty sad...as are some of the comments here. Many of bad comments here are factually incorrect.
That said, the Hall family that occupied this house was vibrant and had an optimistic outlook. Everyone in that family was nice.
Its amazing--if you know some of the background and some of the people, there is nothing creepy or spooky about the house or the video.
Good call, I completely forgot about deer season being in right now. I wanted to hit it up before I lose one of my models next month, but oh well. He works perfectly with this type of environment.
@gman586 I read about that. I was considering phoning the real estate company to request to visit the property to take photos for a "perspective purchase" but figured it wasn't worth a shot.
I would really like to head out there in the snow to get some great shots.
I moved to Florida, but used to live right down the street from here. It always was freaky driving by it. This video shows it's even stranger than I thought... I wil have nightmares tonght...
actually Mr. Halls is a freak. Mrs.halls lives right down the street from me know they had 4 childern t. Mr. Hall use to to own Halls trucking. He stole money and didn't pay his taxs. when I was a kid I lived across the creek from the tower and Mr.Hall use to shoot at people on his property and people's dogs. My mother use to work for Mr. Hall in the 80's and his Christmas parties were filled with coke and crazy things. Mrs. Halls is really nuts might be from all the cocaine she did.
The story behind this, from what I've read, is that there used to be a couple here with a kid, and then the wife died unexpectedly and then husband and kid left and were never seen, and then 20 or some years ago there was a college party there (hence the loud speaker) then this guy got drunk and went to the top of the tower and jumped off, so today they say the wife and guy haunt the tower, and theres also foot steps leading from the tower to the pond that never disappear, you need a blacklight
Kinda true but no.... he built the place and was busted for embezelment so they took the house, he set it on fire so noone could have it, the kid didnt jump they were drunk and he fell down the elevator shaft
I went there and made a video of it, watch it if you want. We heard this really weird tapping when we were there, did you? It was coming from the top of the tower and it sounded like someone tapping a rock on metal and it started a few seconds after we got out of the car and it got louder and louder. Creepy place!
Awsome, always wanted to see it up close. I live about 6 miles away from it, so I drive past it often and know that I cannot visit :( this was a great "tour"...thanks
yeah def- However "Hall Manor" is not haunted! It was owned by John Hall yes, and he owned his own Trucking company then started embesseling(sp) investigatoers were close on his tracks so he decided to burn his house down to collect insurance money! and a few years back there used to be huge tracker trailer trucks full of all their belongings and kids over the years totally went through the property that was ceased by the government.
my mom too was a babysitter for the Hall residence in the 80s and the littlest girl's room was at the top of the tower. Now there is a family thats has moved into the other side that was not as damaged and are trying to rebuild what can be used.
Not to damper all of your 'scary' thoughts but its just a place where kids used to party nothing scary, nothing hanted. Just a HUGE house with a very eriee surrounding.
I was there when they were having the auction, I was able to walk around inside of it, the indoor raquetball court was filled with boxes, i also remember the secret passage way with the book white book shelf. My friend and I played basketball on the court on while the auction was taking place. I was still in middle school.
It was an amazing sight to see.
I can't remember how many millions of dollars he was in debt, hence why it was never finished.
I'm not sure if you're aware, but at 5:24 I believe you are standing right where the boy died, at the bottom of the elevator shaft.
In March of 1995, Ernest Barr Jr., age 22, fell down the Hall's Tower elevator shaft, while drinking there with friends. Some stories say his friends left him for dead, others claim they carried him to a nearby residence and left him on a porch. Either way, he died before he could be medically helped.
@mountholyoke You're a dumb ass don't open your mouth if you don't know the real story. Those storys are false I am one of those friends and I can tell you that we did not leave him for dead at the mansion or on someones doorstep. Ernie was pronounced dead at the hospital after we got him an ambulance.
It's difficult to find any info on this place online- only the same few stories available. VERY spooky place. You're lucky you guys got to see it before it was fenced off- it's a lot harder to access now...
