I love how at the loop, you can hear both fans screaming as the mad exhaust air deflects away from the camera momentarily til she goes over. Sad that she went in looks like you had full or near full deflection on you elevators and vectors! awesome video!
You actually could. GoPro HD Hero can put out standard video (the 848x480 I assume) while recording HD to SD card. Needs transmitter obviously too then.
Thats beautiful footage, great view and a daring camera angle!! Did you add much weight to the nose to get the correct C of G or just left it tail heavy?
Added a weight to a 12 inch stick on the nose to get it to balance.
it just didn't balance in roll & didn't have enough elevator to start all that "static dead weight" moving & it couldn't loop as tight as it did before we put all that stuff on.
I have this model, flew it a few times. Broke the cheaply constructed nose gear on a landing. Now I get to wait 3-4 months for new parts from Hobbylobby. Looks like you fly your SU 34 without landing gear? How does the plane handle belly landings?
@locrwy8 My landing gear worked well enough till I added all the camera & balance weight. The nose wheel strut broke on a 400 foot long take off roll. I was at the field & wasn't about to drive back home without a flight, so I removed the landing gear & did a hand launch, flew for 37 seconds & then crashed, so I never actually made a belly landing with this airplane. Now i'm waiting on a body kit from Hobby Lobby.
Yep, I should just order that "airframe only" version too. Then I wouldn't have to wait so long for my nose gear assy. to come off backorder. Your post was interesting, thanks
Congratulations! Not only an awesome viewing angle, but you used it on a fighter jet. Plus, you've in a sense created the first RC plane 'black box' as far as I know.
Since its a russian fighter you need to rig a little pilot punching out right before it kisses the dirt. Russian fighter pilots are good ejectors at airshows, you know. =oP
@RcAndries It is way tough! I put a bunch of lead in the nose, but with all that weight the aircraft was very sluggish. Because it takes a bunch of inertia to start all that mass moving.
It was my fault that I crashed, I have to accept that, I'm working with it. The airplane was rolling left, I was trying to trim it, it rolled very quickly, because of all the extra weight, when it was upside down I thought I could do a split "S" but because of all the weight on the nose & tail it was too sluggish on the rotation. You gotta admit I committed to up elevator, I didn't release till after I crashed. I feel better now that thats off my chest.
@ferociousfrankie I added the rudder to help the airplane drive straight down the runway. I re-glued one of the tail that had broken off earlier & was in a rush to fly so I never readjusted the rudder. The aircraft was rolling left when it crashed. We had to hand launch it because the landing gear kept collapsing.
@Skydive4ever I managed the CG for about 37 seconds. There was a carbon tube on the nose of the airplane with lead weights taped to it. The plane could not rotate well because of all the weight on both ends of the airplane. I needed a lot more elevator than I had.
That was great while it lasted. You could really see those surfaces flexing.

if only you could get a live feed from that camera so you could just fly it from that perspective

@EDF6399 Yes there is a test.
You have to have to be an AMA member, (insurance)
& you need to be checked off by a flight instructor to fly there.

When you rolled prior to impact, you had elevator up... pushing the plane down into the ground. Didn't even attempt down elevator to try and pull up.
I'm guessing it rolled unexpectantly and you couldn't react?
