  • get a real drum kit nerd

  • Haha! It's McLovin!

  • Dude, best comment so far on youtube.

  • I'm really not impressed. Just buy a drum machine for 1/4 the price.

  • 1/4 the price? The circuit of the video costs 3$ and a PC. You don't need to buy an oscilloscope to play the sounds...

  • its true nerds are the shit but dude. comon there's an extent.

  • you fucking nerd get a life

  • You asshole don't even understand how it works, fucking retard. Nice to call people nerds, while your life has only one achievement, you learn'd how to walk. Congratulations! These "geeks" that people in this society pushes to the corners, they are the ones that made possible for you to use computers, play your fps games, use your cellphone... list goes on.

So please, next time you leave a comment, read it twice then try to think... even something?

  • I love the setup you have, geek coolness to the max. :)

  • I know ;) thanks

  • hey man you can do a virtual drum for shows with virtual chimbal, toms, ... the drummer will not need a real drum for show. Work in it

  • lol, go buy a midi keyboard... slike 30 bucks on ebay

    again, lol!

  • nerd

  • stupid nerds have nothign else to do... git a life.. lol

  • stupid idiot with no education...learn how to spell...lol

  • its the same tecnology as an eletric drum. Hit the ruber pad and it makes sound. Nothing new...

  • the difference is that I don't touch anything.

  • loser..you didn't even watch the video properly =))

  • that was retarted it was so fake i mean how hard is it to have a guy in the backround playing the hi hat if it was real why would some waste all that time on a thing that only plays one thing they must have nothing better to do and that is all if u say im wrong ur wrong cause a rednecks always right

  • booooooooooooooooooooooorrrriiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnng

  • what a dumb gadget... No point in hooking all that shit up just so you can play a stupid hi hat...

  • why do you need all of that crap to just play one wav file. all you need is a motion sensor and a program that you could easily make to connect to it via usb or firewire. all that is not necessary.

  • phill135, now is not necessary, but if someday I want to convert each pad into a thevenin, the only thing I have to do is change the program.

  • LEARN TO PLAY ACTUAL DRUMS!

  • This is way beyond me, but impressive.

  • Who cares if it's long dead, old fashioned or whatever. If you can create something this advanced by yourself, you've got academic talent. I know I couldn't do it. I'm more of an artsy type person and technology is something I don't quite understand.

  • flippin douchebag

  • Fkin NERD

  • awsomeeeeeeeee that is sweet

  • weed

  • That program has some potential. The next step is figuring out different hand positions for different drums, and a better response time.

  • I will do that, with 8 different 'air-pads' to play 8 .wav sounds simultaneously, and the response time can be better if the rs232 communications go at 192kbps, instead of the 9200bps that goes now.

  • is there any way to get those pads to sample from an actual drum module instead of .wav files from a computer? Do you ever plan to incorperate MIDI into the system?

  • I think you could modify a drum module and use this type of pads, and yes, I plan to incorporate MIDI but not now.

  • that guy is cool

  • NERD!!!

  • this is nothing compared to the electric snare drum thing... check out my account for anything halo2, guitar, pain, or comedy related

  • why not just use real drums 0_o

  • Interesting and useless

  • that waz boring as hell

  • NERD

  • wow. that looks awesome.

    thats a ton of hardware.

  • this is freakin cool. Nice way to excersize you brain, dudes.

  • exercise...now I look stupid

  • This is a theremin?

  • stupid spanish they sucks i want to fuck all the spanish women on this world

  • People like you, my friend, are the sole reason why some day I plan to assinate random people. Burn in hell, asshole.

  • But u cant, imbecil, porque no te da la poronga ni para hacerte una paja.

  • you are stupid share2go

  • your the dumbest person in the whole world.

    congratulations, asshole.

i know you were trying real heard, too.

  • i want to know how to make this!!! i want to use this to set up a USB drum set at my desk at work so that i can practice during the day. didn't find directions online to do this yet. hoping to.

  • *drum roll* introducing the idiots! woo!

  • and "MICROSOFT" is born...!

  • OMG!! its a bomb !!! run away they r terrorists

  • god too much work and too confusing...

  • Screw the haters, I'd like to see them assemble a simple parrarallel resistant circuit, much less something like this. Personally I think it's damn cool, keep on trying shit, just don't short out your laptop. :D I remember doing a few things like this back in the day using the pararallel or com port, what do you guys use now a days?

  • thanks, we use com port.

  • that sucked

  • nerds..it will never be the same than a real kit

  • perhaps it won't be better, but I'm sure it will be cheaper.

  • STILL NOT BEING BETTER :D

  • thats cool...

  • Why not use a real drum: less wires, same effect, therefor better.

    TCHS

  • *yawn* i just nodded of there. did i miss something? no of course not what utter crap this is. really get a life or sumthin' geez louise some ppl.

  • Thats cool! The delay is kinda long though.

  • DULL

  • that was cool

  • what is that laptop looking thing? is it a pic programmer?

  • the laptop looking thing is a pic trainer, I could have done the same circuit without it, with this you can program the pic and then connect the circuit without having to move the pic.

  • whats it called? where can i get one?

  • nerds.. :P

  • sweet ^^

    that's pretty sick mang ^^

it'd be cool if i could make something like that!!

I would try to take over the world with that kind of technology, kuz then you can get the machine to do something besides that. like.. talk! with hundreds of different commands for different words and a keyboard to go with it, you type in a word and the word is like a command for the machine to say that word, you can help Mute ppl talk! so they don't have to write everything they want to say!

  • That you should! Thats an amazing idea! I'd repost it so the owner of this vid can see it.

  • i read alotta people calling them "nerds" and "go buy a drumset" first of all, cause they can make something that you cant, doesnt make them a nerd, just makes you a lil more stupid, secondly, its not the drum playing you morons the issue, he didnt show a drum technque or something, he showed a motion activation program, they arent nerds, you're just too stupid to get it

  • Hmm, did you use a IR LED circuit for this? Or something else?

    Just curious.

  • I used a simple wire, an IR LED is sensitive to the light, not only my hand. However, I suppose that would work right too.

  • Ich bin stolzt auf dir. Prima!!!

  • I would love to see a whole drum set made with this type of motion sensor. You could sit and play a virtual set and the sounds would be there. Sort of like a Theremin but a percussion instrument.

    That would be wicked !

    Muy Bien,

    Peace,

    J.L.

  • NEWS BULLETIN~People of spain, drum machines are available via ebay.

  • lmfao

  • people of spain? haha what a fuckin ignorant

  • what? They said they were from spain. Are you illiterate?OR JUST DUMB.

  • NEWS BULLETIN: u'll have a BULLET IN your head

  • what nerds!!

  • Cool, but.. speak English?!

  • Nice tech, shitty camera work.

  • Pretty cool but i dont know how much longer the labtop with the wires stickking out is going to survive. Merry Christmas, Xbox Guy ^_^

  • breadboards haha

  • lmao

  • or just... buy a Nintendo Wii :D

  • i cant understand your language...but that was cool

  • wow all that equipment for... what exactly? it looks like it plays the same sound everytime, does it?

  • BUY A FUCKING CYMBAL U DUMASSES ! ! ! ! !

  • Can you understand the difference between electronic proof of concept and "oh my God, I need a cymbal!"?

They have the knowledge to make an electronic cymbal with their own hands instead to buy it. That's very admirable. Probably you can't, and prefer to spend your money buying one, without know how to play it, and then continue writing stupid capital comments here in your frustration.

  • To overclock: Buen trabajo tios.

  • jesus, wish i was that computer smart, i can do things on this thing

  • And BTW, it's CYMBAL! damm this people fuckin up with the english language... you'd better start reading something else than comic books.

  • And BTW, it's DAMN and FUCKING! you'd better start reading something like shut the fuck up

  • have you ever heard of typing mistakes you retard?

  • you complain about other people fucking up when you're fucking up yourself. hypocrite.

  • That's nice! Felicitaciones por hacer esto! Abrazo de Brasil. And all you assholes that couldn't do anything better than criticizing their work, stfu.

  • ko

  • that's amazing

    congrats!!

  • We're from spain, you almost guessed right

  • such strange people in this world..

  • germans or icelanders? This is what keeps them busy when it's so cold out it freezes the piss in your bladder.

  • germans? i suppose you have never been in germany. germany and piss freezing in your bladder? holy shit!

just the comparison of germans and icelanders is ridiculous. have you ever looked on a globe?! aahh, i forgot, american globes just cover the us.

  • wow you write in english, good then understand this...i was kidding, hahaha pullyour head out of yer arse and laugh a little it might melt some of dat brain freeze!I was camparing the two countries peoples because of the accent, not the map similarities you idiot..

  • What the hell? Have you even heard German or Icelandic? Icelandic sounds completely different to either Spanish or German. O_o' And German sounds different to Spanish. O_o

  • in the video we're talking catalan, but it's similar to spanish.

  • doing this cost me 0$ and a pc which I need to work, and seems you have a pc too. I think the important is do it by yourself.

  • instaed of paying thousand of dollars on computers, by a real drumset

  • less fun ;)

  • How bout, instead of being an ass, congratulate him for the fact that he is possibly improving technology or giving an attempt to. Instead of buying something already invented from someone else, Why not try to make something yourself.

  • it's much simpler that it seems on the video, the circuit is based only on a pic and max232 to convert signals to rs232, and then the pc recieves the number of 'pad' that detected your hand, it's useless with only one pad, but it can be useful when you have 6 or 8 drum sounds at the same time.

  • Why bother with max232? You could have done it with two comparators instead and forget about pic's uart - it only brings latency :))) Nevermind, keep on rocking dude! You can do a full-fledged midi drum-station with that - just add more inputs :) And yes, a fast XT oscillator and a few ADCs for velocity-sensitive drums - or use the ones in your PIC :)

  • kool and all but i think that its way to complicated for the end result....needs some work. there ARE easier ways to do this... but cool man

  • lol i prefer the real thing

  • in this case is a cymbal, but I can choose any wav sound from the program, it's not like theremin.

  • cymbol, symbol, who gives a fuck, why in gods name would anyone want to spend that much time recreating what, to all intents and purposes sounds like a biscuit tin falling on the ground

  • Yeah, in fact, why bother inventing anything, ever?

  • If this was meant sarcastically I totally agree... altho Im not too sure it was... lol

  • because scientific and artistic endevour is what makes this planet such a colourfull, safe and enjoyable place to exist, duh!

  • Haha, "cymbol, symbol, who gives a fuck"

I actually burst out laughing, great comeback :)

  • cymbal. And sometimes you do things like this just because you can.

  • This is like theremin the hard way...

  • Pretty easy to make...but i guess cool idea. You could easily make a theremin out of the same circuit.

  • Pretty easy to make, but i guess cool idea...you actually make a theremin out of this, and it'd be way easier too.

  • CYMBAL!! Not "symbol".

  • Try buying a symbol you fucking nerd.

  • Somebodys Jealous! xD

Haha, your both losers Alchemy, Fininho...

  • Better yet, why don't you try understanding the difference between a symbol and a cymbal?

  • Better yet, why don't you go fuck yourself WITH a cymbol you fucking nerd.

Go loose your virginity. Try, at least.

  • Ok. I'll go get laid if you continue to favourite Ask A Ninja videos.

Please! It'll make both of us so more masculine. :)

  • so this is a digital theremin :D

  • damn nerds man.... damn nerds

  • whoa!

  • all that for one symbol

  • Well YOU try wiring something like that. I'm pretty impressed with just that one cymbal

  • You don't have to wire all those wires to get just one fucking cymbal. Why won't you go to your nearest music store and buy the actual cymbal, better yet buy the whole drumset, you nerd?!

  • Because thats not the point of the vid, duh -_-'

  • I wasn't trying to get anyone mad here.. I'm just saying it's impressive to have something like that without rewiring an old power glove or something. What ever happend to just watching a video and laughing or giving the occasional "wow" without insulting it?

  • That is long dead, my friend.
