THE MAU MAU GANGS WAS LOCATED IN FORTGREENE PROJECT BACK IN THE LATE 50,S GANG MEETINGS TOOK PLACE IN FRONT OF P.S 67 TILL THIS DAY THE SCHOOL IS STILL THERE SO IS A LIBRARY AND A PRICENT WICH NICKY CRUZ DESCRIBES IN THE BOOK NOTHING HAS,NT CHANGED..THE SCHOOL LIBRARY AND PRICENT IS SITLL THERE..WHEN I WALK BY I IMAGINE HOW IT WAS LIKE BACK IN THE DAYS..ONLY THOSE IN THIER 60,S AND 70,S KNOWS ABOUT WHAT WENT DOWN..AS 4 NEW JACKS THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TOOK PLACE DURRING THAT TIME
@spainoner what about the projects, I'd imagine they're gone and forte greene has all been gentrified and turned into a bland middle class area with no character, like what has become of every interesting urban area in the world now
THEY ARE MAKING A NEW MOVIE IN PRODUCTION ATM CALLED RUN BABY RUN THE NICKY CRUZE STORY should be out early next yr end of this year look it up :)...i love the book. this movie is pretty poor.
The Mau Mau were not the toughest gang back then. You Had the Buckeneers, The Black Diamonds, the ellery bobs and a few more. I should know as a Kid I remember my brother coming home from a fight He was called German Bot because we had lived in Germany for a few years. Most fights would happen off Broadway and Myrtle ave near the projects in Brooklyn. Most of the gamg members I knew are dead now but it was kinda fun watching the fights from a hallway window.
That was how it was back then. I have seen and been in many"rumbles" with the gang I belonged to in East Harlem. The Crusaders. We had no guns or weapons just fists and bats, maybe an occasional zip gun. Gangs today would get the shit kicked out of them in a fair one today. But gangs today don't know what a fair one is.
OMG Your soo right...im currently reading tha book and i remember it saying that too lol and tha mau maus' jakets were black with crimson writting...not red!
uh it think go on google and type run baby run you should get the movie website and look for a trailer... i havent looked in a wile so i dont know about any changes XD
@toughkiwi54 the book was much darker then this silly movie. In the main rumble I remember being detailed in the book they fought in the yard of one of the public schools in brooklyn, stashing the weapons in long grass in case of the cops, and fought until the cops came to break it up. Nicky had a revolver and shot a young boy from the rival gang in the hip, and another was hit in the head with a shotgun blast.
that was in run baby run though, not the cross and the switchblade. The cross and the switchblade actually had some discrepencies from run baby run, like nick'ys testimony in the cross and the switchblade is different to the story in run baby run
Where's this from!?! LMAO If someone really brought a machete to a fight like that, there would be a bunch of blood! Is there still a gang called MAU MAU, or is this different? straight-upDOTinfo
mau mau was a mostly puerto rican and some blacks gang from like the 50's in fort green brooklyn, bad dudes, they were consider the most violent of the gangs of its day. That was the golden age of turfgangs, they no longer exist.
yer these days its shooting people from a movie car over drugs or sumfin... we get people like these alot in australia cuz our street gangs dont no how to get guns ahahah
Nice video, except; couldn't you have shown the whole fight. What makes it great is that the fight when from the feild, through the street, into an alley, on a roof and into the street again. I've been trying to find a video with the whole fight and nobody's put it on.
Best way: buy the DVD! (I sometimes wonder if all this putting stuff on YouTube is always legal.) And why get enjoyment out of watching a fight scene? I suppose the message of the film is: Jesus came to deliver us from this, it's bad and sinful!
That was so gay

Yup. They'll kill you over a pair of shoes or a watch now. It's pretty bad in Kingston, Jamaica too.

@dao3rd it really sucks that gangs aren't interesting anymore. How long ago were you in the crusaders?
