The Mau Mau were not the toughest gang back then. You Had the Buckeneers, The Black Diamonds, the ellery bobs and a few more. I should know as a Kid I remember my brother coming home from a fight He was called German Bot because we had lived in Germany for a few years. Most fights would happen off Broadway and Myrtle ave near the projects in Brooklyn. Most of the gamg members I knew are dead now but it was kinda fun watching the fights from a hallway window.

That was how it was back then. I have seen and been in many"rumbles" with the gang I belonged to in East Harlem. The Crusaders. We had no guns or weapons just fists and bats, maybe an occasional zip gun. Gangs today would get the shit kicked out of them in a fair one today. But gangs today don't know what a fair one is.

@toughkiwi54 the book was much darker then this silly movie. In the main rumble I remember being detailed in the book they fought in the yard of one of the public schools in brooklyn, stashing the weapons in long grass in case of the cops, and fought until the cops came to break it up. Nicky had a revolver and shot a young boy from the rival gang in the hip, and another was hit in the head with a shotgun blast.

that was in run baby run though, not the cross and the switchblade. The cross and the switchblade actually had some discrepencies from run baby run, like nick'ys testimony in the cross and the switchblade is different to the story in run baby run

Nice video, except; couldn't you have shown the whole fight. What makes it great is that the fight when from the feild, through the street, into an alley, on a roof and into the street again. I've been trying to find a video with the whole fight and nobody's put it on.

Best way: buy the DVD! (I sometimes wonder if all this putting stuff on YouTube is always legal.) And why get enjoyment out of watching a fight scene? I suppose the message of the film is: Jesus came to deliver us from this, it's bad and sinful!
