Nicole doesn't sing as well as Melody, but she was chosen to be the head of the group because she has much more stage presence, and presence as a person in general. Melody sings great but she is kind of invisible. If she were more present, she would have been scooped up for a solo career a while ago.

Also, melody has an amazing vocal talent but if you listen to "love gun" or "hurt" cover by melody you can hear she cant carry a song, her voice is too powerful thats why it sounds good in little bits like vocal runs but not on a full song.

She sings too "whiny"

@oliviakirkham hummm, I think it doesn't have a name..it's just regular backin vocal, but Melody works a lot with MELISMA, that's her trademark! =D If you listen to her singing Fever, you will see she playing a lot with the vocals, and that's melisma! It requires a lot of articulation and a special tone of voice..but it's just her style of singing, she does backin vocal her own way! haha =D

Watching this video again today, I can cleary see that Melody HAS THE STRONGEST VOCALS IN PCD, in "Takin Over The World" is easy to see that Melody goes higher than Nicole with just her "natural voice" (not screaming), while Nicole's "natural voice" is lower, u know what I mean? I think Robin Antin was just BLIND(or even better DEAF) to not put Melody to lead the group or to just sing more than she sang! I pray for her to be successfull in her solo carreer! GO MELODY!!!

@KimberlyFlexyDoll Mel doesn't have the voice to do a majority of the songs, her voice live Xtinas is made for soul and blues music, most of the songs sung a quite versatile in style, and since mel isn't formally trained to get some of those affects is quite hard, Nicole can sing in many diff types of voices and has a wider range, for a pop group Nicole is the obivious chocie, but she could sing a lot more
