I remember when I was 7 this ad scared me to death, whenever it came on i'd jump and tell my Mum or Dad to change the channel, It was the "NO" that terrified me
HAHAHAHA I love this. Brian's got all the bases covered - opens the window, rings the emergency number, turns off the gas and tells his wife not to use a switch... but he starts lighting up a fag, looks at it and then goes "OH WAIT, THERE'S A GAS LEAK!!"
I just about remember this advert when I was 6 or 7, depending on when in 1989 it was shown. Gavin Richards (the Cillit Bang Barry Scott lookalikein the advert LOL) played the Italian soldier in 'Allo 'Allo and played Terry Raymond in EastEnders around the mid 90's to 2000.
The beginning dialogue I remember as well as the wife saying that she can smell gas and him shouting the obvious line, "NO!". Hehehe.
YESSS! Go on blow the house up just for fun! We the TV viewer want to see what happens next. Oh, I forgot, reality TV hadn't been thought of back then!
But what if the flames are properly dressed, maybe in a nice suit?

Just a little amount of gas smells like death, surely they'd not even enter before airing the place out for a few minutes.

#4 is bad advice. Don't make calls from the area affected by the gas leak. Kept expecting to hear a kaboom.

Best public service advert of all time. No-one that ever saw this will turn a light on when they smell gas.

@theweddingsinger1970 I definitely made me feel that way as well as I had no understanding of why it scared me.
