Last time I EVER watch an edmunds review. I got a 2011' 3i last week based on raving reviews despite my distaste for it, and I still loathe the piece of crap. It's so touch and go on the throttle and brakes, it only manages 26 mpg city only, the dash although being "best in class" is really plasticky and cheap feeling. The thing is always hunting gears, it locks up the torque converter and lets it go all the time, the STUPID "beep beep" when the car turns on, the blue "EQ" light, I HATE MY 3!
I just traded my 2007 for a 2011 model (no real difference from 2010). I simply Iove everything about this car. I'm going with the 6-speed manual this time though. The 2.5L engine is very fun to drive
My wife and I just purchased a 2010 Mazda 3, 2.5 Liter. Drives and handles great. Plus, it gives a nice little kick. I like to race, so I have alot of fun with the semi-automatic tranny
@funpoleece Do you need a BMW to get chicks ? that is so sad dude....I have a 2007 328i, a 2011 Mazda 3 and a 98 VW jetta and I can get as many girls I want just driving my old jetta ....you don't need fancy cars to get nice girls and if you do, then you can't seduce a woman.

@lanko1 I live in Thailand at the moment doing college well you can always go to '' Mazda.com '' to see what they have to offer :) bcos in Thailand there is only one model '' 2.0L with stop start and the paddle shift you can't really pick out other trim which is a let down cos I would love to have this car in 6sp but still the car drives great :)
@yoko499 It is but not as fuel efficient as other cars in it's class. If your not a lead foot driver you can go by the mileage estimates of 25mpg City and 33mpg Highway. With mixed driving you will average about 28mpg. Although you could get closer to 33 mpg mixed with the new Elantra or Civic.

I don't know why I got blindsided and chose the crappy focus instead. I especially agree with the minimal side to side rolling and the luxurious interior. I want a mazda 3 so bad.
I rented one back when this came out. Very comfortable and quiet ride, interesting music volume setting that lowers as the car goes slower, and overall just a clean setup. Drove from San Diego to Reno in one shot, and I had a blast in the Mazda3 making the drive.
I've had a Protege for years and it's been great. I went to buy a 2011 Mazda3 and was too tall for it (I'm 6'2"). I was disappointed that the driving position felt more cramped than the Protege. I had to go with a different brand. Otherwise, I thought the car was great and would have bought it if I was shorter.
@greenninja2003 I have a mazda 3 and I'm 6'5". The seat is adjustable so, while its adjusted all the way to the floor, I am incredibly comfortable in it :-)

"148hp is under power"? you are making corolla civic and focus look stupid. i think 2.0 is the best if you want the compact with good gas. 2.5 is one lame lazy engine with bad mpg.
They forget to mention the crappy 22/29 gas mileage you get with the 2.5L engine... Civic is still best in class. Its sad I can get better gas mileage from the full size Honda Accord or Hyundai Sonata
I have this exact white mazda 3! i love it! it handles better than most cars, and if you dont like the front bumper then get the older model or another car. Yeah its a little small and dosent have the most powerful engine but if you know how to drive well its really not a problem. i drove a friends chrysler 300 and it reminds me of my aunty toyota it handles like an old grandmas car! i love the firm handling
@HowlinAdamJames Its a good car, in my opinion the best in its class/price (compared to the honda civic, toyota corolla) but i suggest getting the 2.5 because the 2.0 can feel a little underpowered when merging into traffic. How'd it go?
@huzairrrrrrrrrr Its good, the more time goes by the more i like my car. It really does handle well, i've pretty much pushed the car to its limit and it responds great. Definitely considered this car if your thinking about buying one, &Maybe look into the mazdaspeed 3 if you're looking for more power.

Great review. I have a 2005 Mazda3 with the 2.0 L engine, and when I'm merging onto a highway, or passing I have no problem doing that. I just tap the accelerator and the treanny downshift and I just wave to the slow drivers,
It's a good review. I'm not sure if it's like everyone has jumped on the band wagon without realizing it but I like everything about this car. I don't see a smiley, I see a great sporty looking car. The only inconvenience is the rear seat space, they chumped out in this aspect. Other than that it's an excellent buy for what you get.

interior space seemed fine to me. I rode in my buddy's 3 the other day, sitting in the back behind a friend who's 6'4"
He had his seat in a comfortable position, and at 6' tall, I had plenty of legroom in the back. Just makes this more of a winner.
