  • She seems to have a moustache growing and underlip hair/stubble?

  • @slippyg OK ...

    Rich

  • You say using a mouse would be different. What are you using?

  • @lemmontree1 hes on his laptop obviously..

  • @lemmontree1 A tablet i think :)

  • god i think her skin was almost flawless anyway.. would hate for u to see my skin! yikes!

  • @dawnjones82 You're right - Oh well - it's hard to find a picture with lots of blemishes!

    Rich

  • Professional Photoshop tips and tricks, watch these video tutorials - youtube.com/watch?v=wg-MqQwG5z4

  • Nice :-)

  • @bamsemumsa Thanks - it was an early video and there are probably more useful ways to do it now - but - this is a good starting point.

    Rich

  • the blurring is completely unnecessary.

  • @mussfrombruss Why do you say that?

    Rich

  • Good thing that you said she doesn't look too bad now... because some people in tutorials take people like this and say UGLY GIRL INTO HOT GIRL.(:

  • @7Gaara0 That would be very disrespectful ...

    Thanks for noticing.

    Rich

  • where is the blur part?

  • @rockstarcindriana The blur part is just after 4:00 minutes into the video.

    Is that what your wanted?

    Rich

  • Thankyou for a great detailed video :)

  • You are welcome and thanks for the comment ...

    Rich

  • "Looks Like u Cared"...... XD

  • Thank you- that was just what I was looking for! 5 stars!

  • Excellent ...

    Rich

  • Very well presented, and helpful tutorial. Nice work Rich!

  • Thanks - I do appreciate your comments ...

    Rich

  • Thank you - sorry I missed your comment until now ...

    Rich

  • YAWN.

  • Perhaps this person couldn't understand the instructions.

I checked his channel - never uploaded a thing but he has been making negative comments on videos - one of those folks who prowls about on YouTube trying to look smart when it seems the opposite is true ...

Sad but we are stuck with folks like this.

    Rich

  • I am quite capable in understanding the steps, & furthermore may I add that his shit is weak, but of course a noob such as yourself wouldnt know whats a good edit & what isnt, & this guys editing is below shit, like your existence.

Im not a troublemaker, Im just honest. I looked up PS vids, & all of them sucked; so I decided to let these noobs know that even though imbeciles such as yourself praise this crap, the edits are still shit nonetheless. I mean someone needs to kick them off cloud 9

  • & furthermore, I don't try, I'm just naturally smart, prude. Now I suggest for you to bow your head down in defeat, stop lurking my page, log off Youtube, & work your ass off on your shit photoshop skills; practice makes perfect, and in your case it's going to be a fuckin' long road before your amateur ass becomes pro. Eat shit, thanks.

  • Well - I guess he told me ....

    Rich

  • @riberg Olol, best reaction to trolling EVER!

  • @jeweater11 wtf is wrong with u? There's nothing wrong with sharing knowledge. I think Riberg is a very nice guy/gal in this case. Practice makes perfect, u are right, then u should practice to make urself more useful to society and learn how to civilize. Get a job and stop hating, i pity u, really.

  • Thanks for the support - I am a guy, by the way.

    Rich

  • @jeweater11 get a life dude

  • Thank you so much! this was so helpful!

  • this guy's voice reminds me of Bob Ross

  • Is that good?

    Who is Bob Ross?

    Rich

  • can i do that on photoshop elements 3.0? i know its old haha but a friend gave it to me

  • I can't remember all of the tools in Elements 3.0 but if they are there then you can do it.

That old version should give you lots to work with ...

    Rich

  • thanks!!! u did great job

  • u have the bamboo ! I jus got the bamboo getting use to it !!! can u pre set the fn1 and fn2 buttons on the pad !?

  • very nice!!

  • Thanks ...

    Rich

  • omg thanks so much for this tutorial! i cannot wait till i get my tablet pc to do this

... history tool, i have been using photoshop for one and a half years and had no clue about the history brush, lol

  • A tablet PC is not the same as an external tablet connected via the USB port - which is a large part of my site.

It will work buy not quite as precisely as the Bamboo or Intuos but way better than a mouse.

    Rich

  • Thank you very much for taking the time to put up this tutorial video. Fantastic!

  • You are welcome - I enjoyed doing the video ...

    Rich

  • thanks! i've been using photoshop for a year now and i've never used the history brush. this will help a lot :)

  • There are so many cool things in Photoshop that sometimes we discover way after we start using the program.

    Better late than never, right?

    Rich

  • hiya =) thanks a lot for this video, helped a whoole lot!

But I still cant get the damn brushes to work. I do what you do but it wont let me brush anything, help? :)

    Thanks . Christina

  • I'm afraid I don't understand - what do you mean the the damn brushes won't work?

They have to work - it is a Photoshop law!

Tell me where in the video you are having problems so I can help.

    Rich

  • Well here's the thing.

I open up a picture and when I wanna zoom in or brush or just anything really, it wont work. I can edit the brush size and everything but then when I'm trying to brush the picture the "little white hand" is still there.

Gosh, it's hard to explain.. :P The pointer usually changes to whatever you choose, like a brush or a magnifying glass. But mine doesn't.

    Christina

  • Now that is really add. The "littel white hand" is the move tool and it should only be activated when you select it from the tools or press the space bar and scroll.

Are you using a tablet and pen? If so make sure the bottom button on the pen is not set to be the hand tool and make sure you are not pressing the bottom button.

If not tablet is installed then maybe you need to un-install and re-install your software.

What software is it, by the way?

    Rich

  • I haven't seen this video yet, it's still buffering, but I'm sure it'll be awesome like all your others.

If I may, I have a request. Could you maybe make a tutorial to show how you could color someone's hair green or any other object another color for that matter and how to bring eyes and other features out more, like the unrealistically blue or green eyes sometimes seen in photos?

It will be greatly appreciated and help a lot too! :-D

  • Thanks - I believe I have covered all of those subjects on my site in one place or another but that makes it difficult to find the information you want, doesn't it?

Hair is always a problem because of the stringy bits but eyes are quite simple. A Hue and Saturation Adjustment Layer set to Colorize will give you the vibrant colors you want - check out the Color Change page on my site at the-graphics-tablet com.

Let me if know if you have any questions.

    Rich

  • Well I dont have a pen so i dont know whats wrong..

But as a matter of fact I actually downloaded my version of CS3 so there might have been something wrong with the file..

Im gonna get the real version and see if the problem goes away =)

Thanks a lot for trying to help though =) means a lot!

    Christina

  • i dont like this tutorial. I LOVE IT! this helped me a lot! thanks for making this!

  • Chuckle - you had me going there for a moment!

I am pleased that it helped ...

    Rich

  • I found this very interesting and useful, thank you! :)

  • waooo !! Thanks !!

  • I'm glad you liked it!

    Rich

  • its not letting me apply the gaussian blur! it says the selected area is empty! wat do i do? HELP!!

  • You are trying to apply the blur to a layer and that just won't work.

You have to be on the image - try it out - you will be most pleased with the blur!

    Thanks for the question ...!

    Rich

  • Removing freckles, not blemishes. She has perfect skin already.

  • You're right - she does - but I remember having a terrible time finding a picture with a lot of blemishes at the time so she was recruited.

    Rich

  • are my eyes going crazy or is her hair green?

  • I can't remember making her hair green!

    But I could.

It must be the trees behind her head that you are seeing - ya - that's it - the trees ...

    Rich

  • ah right haha sorry about that, your very good btw :]

  • Glad we got that resolved, right?

    Thanks ...

    Rich

  • Hahaa :'D

    ur right, its green x]

  • Wicked! I didn't know you could use the clone tool for it :) Thanks Rich ;)

  • You are welcome - have fun with it!

    Rich

  • thank you!it's soooooo much easier now :O)!

  • Great!

    Rich

  • aight thanks rich

  • You're welcome ...

    Rich

  • Hey rich i got a question, im thinking about choosing this for my career path but i dont know what the average salary is? Would you be willing to share that?

  • I have no idea - I am not in the Graphics industry.

If you think about it you will realize that everyone starts at the bottom and works their way up depending on skill and determination.

    Rich

  • boyfriend??????? :)

  • No - chuckle - she came from stock exchange (royalty free images) ...

    Thanks for asking!

    Rich

  • Thanks so much you are great and very helpful! =] I'm only 11 but I'm so interested in Graphic Design and retouching, so these videos are easy to understand and great for beginners! Thankies!

  • Good - it was my intention to make these videos to help newbies.

Good luck with your career choice - it is a good one so stick with it!

    Rich

  • Sure will! =]

  • ur really helpful..

    thanks :D

  • Aw shucks - that's what I was hoping to achieve.

    Thanks ..

    Rich

  • do something to fix to crazy eyes man...

  • They are a bit weird, aren't they? I didn't even notice as I was focused on other parts of the picture.

    Rich

  • I would like this photo to work with.

Where can I get a copy please?

  • Hi - I sent you an email with a link to the stock exchange site where I got the picture.

I probably have the original file as well and can send it to you.

Let me know what you would like to do ...

    Rich

  • so how do you correct the left eye so that it becomes identical to the other one?

  • I see what you mean - the left eye is a bit smaller.

If I wanted to fix that I would first use the Liquefy filter and if that didn't work then perhaps copy the good eye to a new layer, flip it and move it over the other eye.

    R

  • When I smooth skin, I blue the skin, then click on the blur option under actions, and make it so it only works if you use the history brush tool. Then I take the History brush tool, and use it for the skin that needs to be blurred

  • I will give it a try ...

    R

  • Wow, this is simply amazing!

I never knew what those tools were for before this. Dx

I'm totally gonna use this. Thank you!

  • I'm glad you liked it. This is a very basic tutorial - there are better ones, however.

  • Just because its basic doesn't mean it isn't helpful. ;D

  • That's true - thanks for pointing it out!

    Rich

  • what do u mean by pen

  • I mean a Wacom pen and tablet like the Bamboo or Intuos 3.

    Rich

  • nice tut especially the blur part. :)

  • I'm glad you liked it!

I checked out your Deviant Art site - nice stuff! Must be great to be able to do that so well ...

    Rich

  • thanks. <3

do you have a deviantart page too? maybe we can watch eachother.

  • I do not have a deviant page - I am not really sure what they are all about.

Anytime I have been there it seems everyone is really artistic while I am an artistic peasant! My forte is stick persons!

If I get one I will let you know ...

    R

  • Yeah, you should definitely get a Deviantart Account. You can put tutorials on there and stuff!

    I have one myself, but I'm more into the anime drawing... ^^;

  • thanks so much for this vid, your a hero. only just getin into photoshop

  • I am glad you liked it - good luck on your Photoshop journey!

    Rich

  • Thanks for the tips, it's helped me out with some work I've been doing recently.

  • Great!

    Rich

  • Thanks for the comment and the rating.

The video is actually aimed at folks who are visiting my site and not as an "entry" in the the YouTube community.

I'll give your suggestion a try and if it works out as well as you said then I'll mention your input on my site.

    Thanks

    R

  • I don't think people are waiting for yet another tutorial like this, but that's just me.

Btw, one should never use gaussian blur to smooth skin. To understand what I mean, select the face, just completely blur and then check the edges of important features, it suffers from severe color bleeding, because it blurs in pixels that are beyond the area what you want to blur. There are much better options.

  • I think Gaussian works just fine for a large number of portraits, even to the point of printing out without losing too much visible quality as long as you don't go overboard with the blur.

How about listing some of these better options instead of simply criticizing the video.
