Very, very nice! You stand out from so much of the wanking shred I've seen on here. Some tasteful melodic playing, no sweep picking (thank goodness), and good use of the tremolo bar. My advice? Drop the tapping. You don't need it, and it's too identifiable. Other than that, you sound unique, which is what it should be all about. Great job!
@CHECKS013 Your playing reminds me of a bit of Satch along with the solo from "My Shirona" from The Knack. Nice tone, too. What are you running through? Also, did you deliberately avoid the cliche' stuff younger players are into nowadays? I've been playing for 33 years, so I have some idea what I'm talking about. Shred IS impressive - for about a minute. Then it gets boring. It's all about dynamics and phrasing. Not speed for speed's sake.
@rklewis2 Thx again man! here I was using a Mesa Triaxis and a Tc G-major, from the record output straight to my sound card so only the Mesa "phantom" power amp and a 5.1 Creative speakers. I totally agree with you about shreding man...idk I just try to express what I feel....for this solo I DID get some inspiration from satch's "summer song" one of my favorites...I actually call this solo "Sunny day on the beach" hehe because the backing track reminded me of the show Baywatch for some reason...
@rklewis2 wonderful telling other musicians HOW to express themselves to fit your musical state of mind instead of what they musically find enjoyable and expressive....get over yourself.
Whatever, kid. I didn't tell you or anyone how to express themseves. If you want to play wanking shred, it's fine with me. You're free to sound just like all the other kids at guitar center, thinking they've got the world by the tail, when, in reality, you end up sounding like a clone. Go for it.
i got a question tho. i be makin real good solos sometimes but the problem is i forget what i played so my solos are never really solid cuz i cant remember what the fuck i did. any solution.
@WhiteGrande93 when u make ur own solo song u shud write its tabs on a sheet paper u can get a sheet paper from justinguitar website in this way it will make easier to play nxt time and besides u can even make slight additions to ur song by trying different notes
Could you please tell how much practice have you been doing to reach this level? I practise every night about two hours on shredding but feel that improvement is very slow. Thanks.
dude , this is really cool, I mainly play major/minor 7 note scales and harmonic minor as when I play pentatonics it always sounds like the standard blues licks.
This has a great van halen feel sort of like dreams, will have to get back into pentatonics. nice harmonics. cheers...paul UK
Man, I would pay dozens if this was done professionally. Seriously get yourself signed, if you don't then i think a lot of people are missing out. 10K views? should be more like 10Mil.
That lick from 1:12 to 1:15 is amazing, i literally shudder when i hear it aha, ive been tryna get it by ear but im finding it really hard to work out cos its that fast, any tips or advice for me man? cheers
ya i kno but like for example like if your playing in the key of E like will u stick completely on the 5 patterns for that key or will you sometimes hit a note that isnt on the patterns?
@thisdayjustbelongedt I would stay on the patterns and sometimes hit notes out of the patterns but in the same key. For example this is in the key of C, so I use the 5 patterns of the major and minor pentatonic but sometimes I hit notes out of the patters but in the key of C. Just by ear if u play a note that isn't in the key sounds horrible...
man first off i would like to say you are sick! second thanks for showing me that pentatonic solos are still cool like ive been using modes and some other lesser known scales to find that magical soloing sweet spot that you just hit but now i realize that what i was looking for was in my arsenal for some time.
Hey, sorry man the backing track is from Total Guitar, the magazine. It came in a bonus cd with 6 backing tracks in different styles, this was the Van Halen style track. Its really old....
WOW that was AMAZING as the last 91 people said. Anyways ive been playing a couple years now and really throw all the time I got into it. Anyways I've started learning theory and was wondering your opion on how helpful or vital it is. Kinda stuck in the minor pent right now lol.cant wait to get a jamman looper i think that gonna be the most helpful. for practicing diff. modes and scales. Cant wait to hear your input later bro -kyle
Hey man! thanks for the comment, to be honest I dont know much music theory. I went to music school for 3 years when I was like 10 or 11 years old for piano but I quit and later I learned guitar by myself. What I did was learning some metallica songs, chords, the pentatonics...some licks and improvise with backing tracks trying to create my own licks and stuff. And also I think ear training is a LOT more important than music theory. later bro!
A lot of the licks you played were simple licks that most people know,...however, you made them fresh and new and played them like they were your little bitches. It is a rare talent that can take simplicity and make it grand...
Hey dude, thanks the backing track is from Total Guitar magazine. Van halen Style, don't remember the number though. If you want it i could send it to u. Peace

Hey!, thanks man sambora is a gr8 guitarrist, one of my favorites. I usually use the pentatonic and the 6th mode of the major scale(the minor scale) together because they are the best sounding for rock music i think.
