I am in pony club too. you looked a little intense jumping the 3'6. I just retired my 3'6 horse this year due to lameness issues and you look like a good match. however, i noticed in one pick it looked like he was fighting you and i don't know if you were just holding him back or fighting him to keep him going straight.

at least you have ribbons! no one in my family tows a horsebox but my dad but hes always at work! i never go to competitions cos i get nervous. any pointers on getting rid of them??

if ur asking how to get rid of the nerves, i have some suggestions. if possible, start out just going to shows and not showing, but just ride ur horse around the ring in schooling. or if u get nervouse cuz ur horse doesnt behave, see if u can start showing on a really good horse, that will build ur confidence :)

You're a lovely rider, your horse is brave, and I commend you on your ability to wait for the jump unlike some of these hunter riders who have to be ahead of their horses all the time!

that isnt 3'6...... if thats a 6 foot standard its only half way. which would make it 3' and if it was 5 foot standard it would only be around 3'3.

ugly or not, an automatic release (done right) gives the horse more freedom and shows independence of the hand from the seat. Trust me, a judge isn't looking for pretty. They're looking for technique and how effective it is.

actually. it depends are we tal;king about hunters here. if so, it is based on how pretty something loks, because a judge will judge a horse on whether or not they would want to ride it themselves.

see, everyone confuses hunter/jumpers with "pretty". the point of a stylish hunter horse with a nice tuck and bascule is not to look pretty, but to be an effective jumper. and the point of an automatic release in the equitation world is also for effectiveness. a lot of people fake the position and pose instead of doing it right
