  • the 6.0 was a really technologically advanced engine for its time but it was pushed way too early to compete with isuzu's duramax. (gm) DODGE is a joke. Cummins makes great engines and thats all dodge has going for them.lol. The 7.3 was one of the best light duty diesels ever produced but absolutely horrible emissions. I will never buy anything but a ford but they need the scorpion to be reliable for a few years before people trust ford again after the 6.0 and 6.4 drama.

  • the 6.0 is a technical flop. That's why Navistar tried to jerk Fords supply of them before the end of their contract was up.

Same axles as fords...Transmission wise, I havent worked on but a few, none of them were stock either, dodge makes the best truck hands down

  • @kawirider206, the dodge has a a&m 30spline front, the ford is a dana 60 35spline. not the same, and the transmissions are not the same. not trying to be rude.

Running a hrvp44 pump, adrenaline w beta tunes, 200 horse injectors, and all through a stock tranny, which failed, I think thats pretty good for a truck close to 500 horses

Which they do both damn well. Ill buy a Ford diesel when dodge stops using cummins. Which is not likely. And for the price? Dodge Cummins have the highest resale value of any vehicle on the market

I like the cummins and the way the dodge truck is, In my opinion nothing pulls or goes like a dodge (even withh a shitty tranny)And to answer your question, Im not sure if they hold their value like fords or not.

  • I have an 07 6.7 cummins it runs very well for what it is but the seats and driver layout sucks so bad it has made me think very hard about getting a ford or chevy i have never owned a dodge before and it has influenced me to never own one again

  • What sucks so bad about it? everything isright within reach and very well with in your line of sight. The controls are all very well placed.. they could of illuminated the cruise control switches for night time cruising, but as an owner of an 07 Ram, I'm very content with the layout of SLT. I've heard other people complain about the seats, but again I'm happy with mine, and I can easilly drive the thing non-stop without any kind of driver fatigue.

  • @scoopyex mine is an SLT also and if you can have both your arms on each armrests and still reach the wheel your a bigger man than i have friend that is 300lbs+ and he says its fits fine a i don't like how the seats have no conture the bolsture is so wide it might as well not have it

The new ford engine may be good, it may be bad. none of us have driven one yet so we cant say which 2011 truck will be better. i personally have my money on the dodge because its always been the most reliable and has always had the most stock hp, lb-ft tq ratings. the 6.0 was the worst motor!

  • I disagree my 6.0 has 183000 and ive never touched it, and Dodge has always had one of the lower hp and lb-ft tq ratings, although the cummins is always reliable the truck there in sucks and the 6.7 Cummins ive heard nothing but bad for 2011 I have money on Ford

You're dwelling on the past. Dodge has come a long way and they make an exceptionally fine reliable product... 2010 Truck of the Year! I work at a GMC dealership and drive a DODGE. It's just better

  • ford will be making this motor. not navistar international. so they will be the only company that designs and manufactures their own diesel motors for their trucks. and if you see the new chevy commercials they straight dog on the tundra and titan... its because they know they dont have shit on dodge or ford. they are like the smartest kid in special ed class.

  • my old ford is 20 years old and hasn't blown a head gasket and it pulls race trailers on a pretty regular basis

    just look at the towing specs, ford is more in 3 of 4 categories

  • i have a 6.0 with 40 thousand miles on it and have had no problems at all with it, even if it does break which i dont anticipate its under warranty and gets fixed.

  • try a stock 7.3 vs a stock duramax. different engines take upgrades differently, and once you upgrade it's no longer a ford or a chevy, depending on how drastic the upgrades are.

  • hp doesn't have much of a difference on diesels. what people buy diesels for are their torque, for their pulling. if you want to race, buy a mustang or a camero. your lighter duramax will win in a race, but a real truck can pull the other one up a mountain. in that case, go by a ford.

  • yeah its response is the new LML with 390 hp, 700 ft lbs GOOGLE IT RIGHT NOW.. ford has 720 ft lbs, with the same 390hp.. with ford being heavy with a crap trans, the allison is meant for strain and abuse,the same trans in fire trucs,military eqip. and all dozers and heavy eqip, so that 20 extra ft lbs isnt goona play a factor on whos has more..duramax will tow more and handle it better, ford has to use twin turbos to get 390hp,duramax kept the 6.6L with single turbo,goes to show GM is the king

  • I work up here on the north slope oilfields of Alaska and its quite clear that powerstrokes are the the diesels to beat. The 6.0 have their issues but they dont mind the cold; the dodges dont like it and the trannies on the chevies dont like the cold either. If the truck is sitting leave it on high idle and run it in 2nd once in a while to keep it from carboning up and its all good.

  • if u can tell me one time besides 1998 chevy has had a best selling diesel truck i will buy a chevy....... there hasnt been i looked it up. cummins motors will blow a dmax away dmax is built for speed hence SHORT BORE ford is a mid bore while cummins is a long bore.... Chevy is faster not stronger... and the reason i say not 1998 is because for didn't produce a truck for that year they were in transition.

  • f-150 is actually more expensive than the chevy. one way to see which is a better truck is to look at the weight specs. fords are always the heaviest, which means they put more metal into them, which means more quality and longer lasting.chevy is always the lightest because they use so much plastic and aluminum.

  • Its not that the Allison is a bad tranny, it just has a lot of trouble behind modded motors. The 5r110 has been much more adaptable for performance. To bad the 6.0 was a big flop, otherwise Ford would have taken

    the performance crown from Dodge and the mighty Cummins. Talk about trans problems...... The 6.4 seems to have the nuts, but the breaking point has yet to be found. I am excited about the scorpion, I think it will be the LS of the diesel world. And if the 6r is as good as the 5 :)

  • Well, I have said for a while now that Ford needs to forget about International and build their own diesel. They do a good job on everything else, so why not. Now this time it will be the Ford reputation on the line, and it should be a much better engine. I think it sucks to have your rep resting on what someone else builds. I think Dodge should trash the Cummins also and start building their own. As for chevy, I don't care what they do or don't do.

  • Not saying the design is bad but in Europe a noisy diesel is not a seller, yes Americans like their diesels noisy (noise also means wasted energy) but at the same time the design makes the market for this product a lot smaller and not conducive to fords recovery.

  • The only reason your chevy is fast is because the truck itself is lighter than ford or dodge. I would choose the ford or dodge just because their built to put up with the abuse a 3/4 and 1 ton truck takes on a daily basis. A duramax is just something to look cool in.

  • well maybe,...but it does have more payload capacity than ford and dodge,the only thing that ford comes optional is with a 4.10 axel ratio..OPTIONAL..and duramax is made for abuse, i work in the oilfield in west texas,and all we see is duramax,fords break to easy,dodge is something that can keep up a steady work rate along with chevy, and when u have something to look cool in and is a solid work horse..u have a combo that cant be beat..chevy is always gonna be on top of the game

  • So true, GM trucks are about - 1000 lbs less, have car tires that are awesome off-road, and of course that wonderful IFS - now that's "HD", next thing you'll hear from these car owners is "it rides so smooth." They squirt tang when off-road or carrying ANYTHING. Payload SUCKS. So if drag racing a truck is your thing buy a GM. If you plan on doing any work - buy Ford of Dodge. Bad news for the Dmax "guy", GM trucks have the more registered girl owners than Dodge and Ford combined.

  • I know NVH is a big deal to manufacturers, but I love the sounds of a diesel engine. The loud the better in my opinion!! If you dont like the sound of diesel clatter, then buy a gas engined vehicle.
