99, Great video. It is so sad that there is a big hole where the plant used to be. The ending with the Harbour Award along with the Motor Trend Car of the Year is really a testament to this country's rush to out source our very best jobs. We achieved all we were asked to and some of that after they announced that we were closing. We were the best and that group will never be put back together to build cars or any other product. This is a sad legacy that we pass on to our children.
I just drove past Atlanta assembly in late December (found it by accident - im from wisconsin, was in atlanta on extended layover from bad weather). They built a good car. My pop's 96 Merc Sable - it is missed.
I own one of the last Tauruses sold to the public, and will always consider it the pinnacle of automobile production from the 2005 era.
I only hope America will realize that the auto industry touches 75% of the retail world and our demise will have a national, if not global, effect on the economy.
Thanks to all for the comments. My fellow AAP Brothers and Sisters built the finest family car made, and still made money on it when Ford wasn't selling to the public.
Awards, Industry recognition, Corporate efficiency targets, and numerous other goals were met and/or exceeded, but since we were only an entry in a spreadsheet, Bean Counters busted up our family.
I consider the 11 years I spent with Ford at that facility the proudest years of my 30+ years working for anyone!!!!!
Sad to watch this video. I went on a tour of the plant in July of 2005, seemed to be a great bunch of people that worked there. My mother bought a 2002 Taurus SEL brand new, and that car gave 148,000 miles of flawless service before getting totaled out in a wreck. She had absolutely zero problems with that car. Even after the wreck, I was still able to drive the car a couple of miles home under it's own power.
Well it might be better off if it is with a joint venture between Mazda and Ford to make another AutoAllience plant or it is better off to build the Volkswagon Passat in the US and it is time to let the Germans take over that closed assembly plant and gain your jobs back making Volkswagon Passats in the US.
Thank you AAP workers for building my all time favorite cars The Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable. The Taurus and Sable built today just arent the same. You guys/gals built the real ones. Be proud of the work you did. I wish the best for all of you.
You know with the annoucement that the plant was sold and is soon to be demo'ed this video is even harder to watch now a year later.I am in Denver now still working for Ford and even though the work is easier on the body I would go back in a minute if I had the chance just to have the pride we had building those cars TOGETHER!
thank you for building my 92 taurus, i have got rearended at 55 mph and tboned by a harley and it still gets me wherever i want to go. also tahnk yo for building my mom's 94 wagon which she bought brand new and has 314,000 miles on it and my dads 96 sedan.they have helped our family and are a part of our family, thank you
This is a hard video to watch, miss AAP now in ktp there will never be another we were the best. This is a great video got to the point miss you all GOD BLESS.
You did good 99! This was the toughest hob I ever loved. Boy I tell you it hurts to drive by the plant and see the parking lot empty and grown up with weeds, it just doesnt reflect the kind of pride we took in our jobs. God has something better in store for all of us. I MISS our job so much!!
Great job 99!!! Seeing this video brought tears to my eyes. I MISS the plant and the people so much. We were a special group ath AAP. We were Ford Tough! I'm praying for all of my Local 882 brothers and sisters. Y'all pray for me too.
Great job, I never thought I would miss a job. I really do miss it though. We had a great family there, Thanks for the video. I will share it with everyone. Starting over, but like Greg said, we will never duplicate that spirit and sense of family again. Best of luck to everyone.
Great job!I still to miss that place a lot.Its hard to explain the closeness we all had.I'm at a new job and it will never be the same as Ford.We had a special workforce there that i think can never be duplicated.Everybody keep your head up we did all we could.
Excellent!! Hope things are well for all.

And why aren't we allowed to at least take a look at what's outside of the automobile manufacturing plant!!!

Great video, beautiful song, GREAT job on both! I'd always heard Atlanta Tauruses were of higher quality than their Chicago counterparts.
