  • Alot of old school messengers would say that a good older rigid steel mtb w/ thumb shifters and slicks is the perfect mess ride because they are durable ,stairs are no problem, can stop very quick, nimble 26" wheels in traffic and a gear range well suited for inner city environment. About the only negative is a wider handle bar. Fixies are great for big flat cities like out east but the west has alot of hills.

  • Man I'm always trying to look out for bike messengers whenever I'm riding downtown. sadly I've never talked to one yet or seen one :(((

  • 7:23 i see a fixie

  • The courier manager says: "they work hard." No shit, chief. I wonder if the guy ever got into that late-day groove, where you start shooting gaps that close a second after you hit them, where near death experiences become so routine, the adrenal glands don't even fire.

  • I was a courier in Vancouver a couple years ago, and it's awesome to see that although things have changed, they have largely stayed the same! Cool to see downtown circa 1991 ago too.

  • satriani comum infringement haha

  • ah the early 90s, when road bikes were so uncool everyone rode bullhorned ORYX mountain geometry even though they all rode on pavement!

  • East Van!

  • yeah joe satriani!

  • no skidding? no fixies? brakes? fenders? ties? helmets? fleece jackets?

there's no way that those people are bike couriers.

    where's the tweed?

  • 1991... hellooooooooooo!
