  • I didn't know Eric Idle played guitar

  • I find it very hard to bealeve all these guitar players, who think they are great players, have learnt to play so great, but find it so fcking hard to string a guitar lol lots of dum motherfuckers around, got to be american

  • @TheTangentUK i'm a british and i agree that americans don't know anything, my mistake to trust the tutorial

  • @jonnycool006 yeah, americans don't know anything, I guess that's why he's using an american made strat....you're a freaking genius.... read a book -_-

  • @tito1915pr i use a mexican tele and a chinacaster!!!

  • @jonnycool006 yeah, mexican is the cheap version of the american, so your comment is even more in favor of me...still a genius -_-

  • dude thx for everything!!!!

  • I did exactly what you did and my guitar sounds different? Pls help!

  • It is recommended to oil the contact points at each saddle with motor oil. Fender also recommends Fender Bullet Series Strings for the Strat. Read support/articles/stratocaster-setup-guide on Fender.com

  • why cut before, you can cut after

  • Every time I need to restring my strat, I watch this vid...

    Thanks!

  • i screwed up my strat cuz of this shit tutorial

  • @jonnycool006 U screwed it up because your either thick as big shit or too dum to learn anything, either way U must be dum as pig shit to not be able to string a guitar lol how fcking hard is it to put a string through a tuner, U must be the dumbest motherfcker alive ha haha

  • He looks like Howard Wolowitz from Big Bang Theory! Anyway, nice tutorial!

  • @BirthdaySuitUp LMAO i noticed that too

  • WTF? The video begins with the strings already in place! If this is a 2 part video, it would be helpful to include the part numbers.

  • Simple, easy, done. Many thanks!

  • Really helped me a lot man, thanks!

  • he looks like a hamster =D

  • This works really good! Thank you very much!

  • ha thats funy, on another vid, the guy cuts it after he has wound it on

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY Either way works, but less wire in your face with a pre-cut, just dont go to short

  • this helped me a lot when i replaced my old guitar strings, awsome guide!

  • 0:31 thats what she said

  • my string broke, i fixed ti and it broke again in less than a minute

  • its the no country for old men haircut. its all the rage in hollywood.

  • my B string has snapped off at the end :/

    its a bummer

  • nice haircut lol

  • whats the name of the first video?

  • @ReachingOutForGOD ....Robert but you can call it Bob.

  • is it a fender strat american standard hss sienna sunburst with rosewood fretboard?

  • good helpful lesson

  • wow, just learned how to put strings on in a diff. way. thank u.. i have a problem with the 3rd string goin out of tune when im bending. hopefully this will work.

  • Hi! Nice one mate! Watch mine : watch?v=b_vb0Ebmixs

  • master this string up works wonders . I like less string on that low E string .

  • master this string up works wonders .

  • What if your Stratocaster has open slots in the machines instead of a hole? Makes it a little tougher.

  • nooo i want to know what to do at the very beginning, i have no diea how to get the string through the bottom bit :L:L

  • Omg i hope it works. Because i have a Black Fender but i was tuning it but the string broke. I got it for my 10Th birthday. Hope it works!!!

  • he looks like spencer rice

  • well just restringed my fender and no probs(well couple of casualties but nothing a plaster won't fix!) leave the strings to stretch and keep tweaking them, do not tighten to far in one go or they will snap won't they! thanks man :)

  • you just fucked me thank you asshole. you owe me 15 dollars prick.

  • There's really no need to take off all the strings at once.. In fact you should restring one at a time.

  • pfff, yea i broke my strings as well frist time i did it but i sure have balls enough to blame myself for messing it up, changing strings is a practice thing.

  • thanks spenny

  • lol i should make a vid for ya'll these people don't know SHIT

  • There are alot of different ways to string a guitar. the main thing is to lock the string by pulling it back so the string overlaps the post and cannot loosen. This is not rocket science poeple its just common sense. Beginners you will get frustrated at first but once you do it right you will always do it that way. Rock On!!!!!!!!

  • heres a hint idiots, if the string feels tight, RESTART. OR IT WILL BREAK

  • How stupid ARE you people!? HE didn't broke your string, YOU did. I mean, really...wtf?!

  • thanks im fucking losser

  • I tried changing the strings on my strat today and haven't changed them before. Had the guitar for like a year now (stupid to leave the strings on that long I know) but I've only ever changed strings on a stopbar tailpiece before. I've got a problem where my strings seem to be stuck in the bridge and won't pass through the body. I've tried pushing the ball ends with a srewdriver and pin etc but they are really tight in there. If anyones got any suggestions I'd really appreciate it :)

  • @Olie23231 its easy u just u ur 6th E string to push all the string out off their holes

  • @Olie23231 i had that same problem today! the corrosion makes it stick. i pushed mine out with a piece or wire. if that doesn;t work you can try WD40 or something...

  • I wish there was a way to block your stupid, words all over the page crap.....

  • The way i do it is fine...put the string all the way in the guitar tuner hole, turn, cut of excess.

You don't need to learn fancy ways of putting in your strings...learn some arpeggios kids...none of that E chord A chord crap....

  • this is a difficult pme...I got it in tune but it ant wrapped around the peg as it should be...lol. Its tight, though. I only used this technique on this string cuz the 46 guage was too big to go through the whole twice Like I did with the others...

  • I don't even feed it through the little hole. Not necessary and besides, I heard it ruins the guitar. I also heard that if I play the guitar I might also ruin it. As a matter of fact, I don't even look at my guitar for fear of damaging it. I only look at it through the reflection of a mirror. And even then, only while wearing my mirror'd aviators.

My guitar is still in mint, unplayed condition so i must be doing something right.

  • @JokeHole hahaha

  • @JokeHole omg, ur crazy, i was reading wut u wrote and thinking, is this another better way or wut, i kept reading and was just laughing.

  • @JokeHole Wtf are u on?

  • @samljer an african baby dies every time i have to point out someone's being sarcastic.

  • @jordanbeaulieu So does a puppy, a kitten, and a gerbil. ass.

  • @JokeHole hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha dudeeee that was freaking funny hahaha

  • Can anybody tell me how to adjust the action on a squire bullet strat?

  • what ever happened to stringing your guitar yourself and who needs a video on how to string up your guitar, it's one of the easiest things to do!!

  • @bristolguitarhero

    Arrogance detected.

  • @ldiotProof i'm sorry but if you play the guitar this is one of the simplest things to do, everyone that i know how plays the guitar (and that's a fair amount of people) say exactly the same and all of them know perfectly well how to string a guitar, come on

  • @bristolguitarhero

    1) Assertion.

    2) Anecdotal evidence that is pretty much useless unless evidenced.

    3) Appeal to people.

Well done, you have the debating skills akin to a creationist.

  • @bristolguitarhero arrogance.

  • I've been playing for about 20 years and this is the first time I ever tried it this way. Took me about 15 minutes to get everything on and in tune. so far so good. Thanks

  • Go to a Local Music Store etc. Like guitar Center they restring for free.

  • fuck this, i might as well have my guitar strung at a guitar shop by people who know what they're doing, not going to risk fucking up my $16 pack of strings

  • You can't string your own guitar? Sad...

How about you buy cheaper strings until you learn how to use your guitar.

  • if ur paying 16 bucks for strings ur getting ripped off

  • Don't take all the strings off at one time. Change one string at a time. Don't cut the string until it is wound and tuned up( you will have to re-ture after you stretch the string). Do not do it like this guy....

  • little fucker made me break the string...Again

  • i use 10-46 strings and every guitarist has his or her own way of stringing there guitars. is there a right or wrong way? i dont think so.

  • This is a very useful video that provides two concrete small tips that make a big difference in the end result. One is where to cut the string. The other is how to tie them to the tuner. The final result looks really good and stays in tune better.

  • Fantastic man, thanks for this! Just what I was looking for!!

  • This is not the best way to string any guitar.

  • how do u mean? what is the best way?

  • I don't like replacing all strings at once r as it bends the neck. but whats wrong with this?

  • change one string at a time or you may end fucking up the guitar

  • 9-42??

  • i have a question. i did all these steps, but my strings didnt go around the tuning machine 3 times, but like 1 or 2 times, and they're already in tunin. is that a problem?

  • if you get less windings you could have more problems to stay in tune.

next time be sure to make the first winding a little further on the strings. with practice you'll be able to do a perfect stringing.

  • The ferret I'm still loughing James thanks.

  • Of all the two part, damn quarter of an hour videos and "professional" stringings, a simple video under two minutes outmatches them all.

  • I've been watching a number of videos on how to string up efficiently, and thus far this is the only video that explained it just right, thanks.

  • my e string is all twangy now and it looks like it formed 2 knots at the lock. i didnt cut it during the process and i just twisted it/tightened it without wondering if it was twisting up or down the pole. what happened?

  • great video thx ;) now i know why my guitar is allways out of tune lool

  • Cherry Red or WTV its called looks really nice!

  • wow, seriously? get a life, asshole

  • The "ferret" hahaha what a joke of a name and he still looks like a assclown piece of shit you made my day cocksuckers.

  • you're extremely cool. you threw a bunch of swear words together to defend yourself . you sound pretty smart to me

  • is it just more or is he an idiot for taking all of the strings off first? it seems stupid to take all of the pressure off of the neck but maybe its just me. im an acoustic player so maybe its different for electric. anyone know?

  • He did some repairs on the guitar . But yes - it is better to remove one string at a time as to not disturb the neck pressure. If the pressure gets disturbed too much...a trussrod adjustment sometimes is needed.

  • helped alot man

  • lol 'tuning machines' haha good vid though

  • Comment removed

  • Okay so I failed trying to do this 2 times so I suggest you practice with like fishing line or something.

  • WHAT is the best Color for a FENDER Stratocaster?

I'm thinking of artic white what do you Think?

  • Personally i like the brown sunburst

  • I have a tobacco sunburst and love it my son has a red to be honest theyre all beautiful to look at i personally like the burst cos you can see the wood grain through it and it gives it that bit more individuality.

  • 2tone sunburst!!

  • jerrylinn35 you have to tighten the bridge springs in the back of the guitar, you probably changed your strings to thicker ones.

  • i have a fender strat and when i try to tune my guitar, my bridge jacks up also when try to tune it. do you have any suggestions on how to fix that?

  • is there a specific number of wraps around the tuning post you should have?

  • 3 or 4 would be the best

  • this is one of the few videos from expert village that actually has a guy that knows what hes doing

  • @daniel8574 hahah

  • I just pull the string past the peg 1/12 inch and put a bend in the end then pull back to the peg and use a sidewinder to tighten making sure the first wind is above the hole and the second is below thus pinching and locking the starting loop. It has never failed and the stringing goes faster so I can get on with the playing. I change strings frequently as I was blessed with oily skin and my strings last about 1 gig. My strings go from "boing" to "bung" in one night. CURSE THAT OILY SKIN!

  • completely unnecessary

  • One of the better if not best demos of strat string change I've seen and a very good locking technique for std. tuners.

Removing all 6 strings first is not at all uncommon. What would you do if you had to remove the saddles, work on the nut; remove the neck. On a strat you simply ensure the bridge plate is nailed down to the level you want it to be before removing all 6 strings. If that level changes after restringing, you loosen the strings a hair and tighten the 2 trem claw screws.

  • Well some people can't follow or spell Instructions and in your case thats both, nuclearmass ( i followed your inscrutions) lol

  • Comment removed

  • dont use pliers on e its to thin

  • lol stop blaming everyone else. you are the one who's doing the restringing. Life's much tougher than restringing.

  • @nuclearmass It's not his fault you're incompetent

  • @nuclearmass i dont know what was u doin but u messed up ur self

  • can you do this on a squier its by fender but I'm still not sure :S

  • yea but i prefer to give it a little more slack and only cut the string when its all strung up and tight that way if you mess up, you wont have to get a entire new string

  • i was wondering that to

  • hmm. I'm just wondering. Have i fucked up? I didnt do it this method but I have it tuned correctly. I only done 1 string to see if it worked but the high E string is only wrapped around the tuner once....is this ok

  • is this your first ever string change?

because if it isn't than you should know that there is nothing wrong with what you did and this guy is only wasting every ones time by making it fancy

  • haha k thanks. I'll put the rest on now and btw it is my first ever string change :P

  • No, it's not making anything fancy, it's simply making the strings tight around the peg. It gives you the same strength locking tuners do.

  • yeah but you dont need to do it unless you are using a wammy bar

(\your guitar will stay in tune anyway unless they are new strings which stretch and fall out of tune then this wont help anyway

  • thank you

  • As I tighten my strings the block keeps floating uo wassup?

  • tremelo blar? lols thanks for the help though

  • getting the strings through the block is the hardest part how could you leave it out?

  • no thats the easiest part...plus thats in part 1 in his vid

  • uhh o don't have a hole in my posts it's just a slit across the top,HELP!! Please

  • just push the string in the slit and turn it

  • yeah lol i figured that out, it's vintage style, haha... it just sicks that you cut it b4 you put in in the slit cuz if you cut it too short you gotta get new strings.. but thanks alot

  • I NEVER clip any off until after I wind the string. I wrap it around and then pull it "UP" tight and the tighten it up further. I always have a real nice wrap that's about 3 to 5 strings high and really tight! If you still have problems, then go to your local music store and watch a demo.

  • the only problem i have is knowing how much to clip off.seriously should i measure it to a post or two posts ?

  • two and a half

  • I did that, and my string is makes a buzzing noise whenever i play it. It's tight enough and everything. Somebody help?

  • do any of u by any chane know how fix a stuck string? like im tryin 2 take my string out and it wont come out, any advice would help me...

  • I had this problem too. Just try finding a nail thin enough to fit in the hole where the string goes. On mine the head of the string was stuck so i just hammered it and it fell right out

  • thanx dude =) ill try dat

  • thanx dat did it 4 me =) but i used a really really small screw driver lol dat also works 2

  • the hell with alll that trouble...i slip in the string through the tremelo..slip it in the peg and tune it and clip the excess and play and tune it again when its outta tune...its that easy! damn expertvilliage sometimes dont kno wut they are talking

    about

  • tuning machines? i dont think i can trust this guy if he doesnt know what key tuners are.

  • Tuning machines and keys whats the difference?

  • no diference just diferent names lol

  • no shit

  • this REALLY wasnt worth breaking a string on purpose

  • Tuning machinezzzz.

  • Personally, I never clip the string excess until the string is wound properly around the tuning peg.

  • IT'S AN E STRING--- you dont do jack shit. you plug it in and tune it-- wind up the excess if you want. this is the martha stewart of strings. what an asshole.

  • Dont turn the string back under itself on the tuning peg it will make your strat not to stay in tune when you use the tremolo. Just pull the string through the tuner give it a twist (like he did on the video, before wrapping the string under itself) and then tune. You should be aming for three turns around the peg. With my kluson tuners I just cut the string and then insert into the little hole in the peg before tuning up. - Just sharing my 20+ years of experience.

  • im pretty confused now, i saw a bunch of videos showing different ways. any help?

  • wtf eric j?>

  • thanks, I really needed this!

  • Thanks a lot! Much help, great video! : )

  • what do you think about the LTD Explorer-260 and the ibanez LTD??

Im having a lot of problems choosing a good guitar to buy :S

  • Fender is way too much better than Ibanez

  • 1.go to the shop

    2.play all of them

    3.choose

  • just get locking tuners for the win! they dont ever lose pitch since the string cant move and wont require more than about half a wind around the peg so there is no slippage or overtension. althoug you need to combine locking tuners with teflon saddels (both bridge and headstock) + teflon string trees. Did that to my guitar, it stays in tune a hundred times better than a floyd rose, althoug mine is an ibanez with a fender style floating tremolo

  • now that is a cool tip

  • that's it! wire cutters!

  • dang nice guitar

  • I hate restringing my guitar. I feel embarrassed with my effort to restring my guitar. I mean.. it seems so elimentary but I seem to struggle. This video is very helpful, however.

  • Dude, that section is known as Machine Head..aka..Tuning Machine.. aka .. Tuning Peg.

    Learn something before you laugh......

  • that's exactly what those are actually.

  • ive been playing for 9 years and i just found out ive been restringing guitars the wrong way for all these years

  • Well, I'm a third of the way behind ya on that one... Ha.

  • I have locking tuners. Is it still necessary to wind the string at the peg so much?

  • With locking tuners you just pull the string tight and tighten the locking screw. Then tune the string.

  • I´m gonna change strings on my guitar, And i wonder what strings are the best. What would you recommend.??

  • i love ernie ball extra slinky they are great for bending

  • i like ernie ball as well

  • ernie ball ultra slinky's are sick.

they're: 8 11 14 22 30 38 so they're really loose and ultra comfy. funny thing is i can still get right down to drop A alright! even with ultra loose.

  • what?! drop a with 8's?
