  • lol love the ending!

  • I agree 100% agree with you. I will always call Australia home and even if had got to pick where I would have been born I would still pick Australia. You are a true blue aussie and it is easy to see. Good on you mate! :)

  • I was curious about if you were actually happy to be in Australia, blunty but now i see that you trully are a Australian, proud and true

    thanks

  • I cant stand all your trendy little left-wing personality types.. You all fall back on words like ignorance and racism when talking about Australian Pride.. I've got a southern cross tattoo'd on me because I LOVE my country and those who fought for ME and my fellow Australians.. All this "give me another beer mate" bullshit reminds me of something they'd use to market Fosters in America..

    100% Australian Pride.

  • From Aussie to Aussie....you are a legend!

  • Haha so true....love this video!

  • Genius good onya mate!

  • A lot of the things blunty says insults the essence of american culture, but I just can't dissagree. Sometimes, i just want to prove it wrong, but that never seems possible. sigh... :-(

  • Oh, it's possible alright, but you'd have to take the Good and the Bad, mix it all up with good old-timey sarcasm....nothing and no one is immune....Enjoy!

  • Come spend some time in America.... the ignorance will make you claw your eyes out.

  • good video, Americans use patriotism the same way they use democracy "like its a soap product" to clean all those messy edges of issue's they cant fix so they attack and call it democracy or patriotism

  • i think here in america. patriotism is not as it used to be when the country first began.... ah well i live here. what the heck dosnt mean i should be like some. xD

  • You see, Blunty, we need more poeple like you in the U.S.. It gets kinda lonely over here when 80% of the poeple you speak to around you have patriotism, because It's more of a obligation, but mostly fear.

  • Agreed. America is so flawed on patriotism it's almost sad.

  • ... what if America had no patriotism? Would the country run itself or implode?

I understand you're speaking from a point of view that Americans take their patriotism and wave their flag too much to take some action but... the question is: when is enough, enough?

  • Hmm... I think the question is: what is patriotism? I can understand that fighting for freedom or what you believe it, but it's being used to fuel wars.

It's a little funny, really, how words are being twisted and manipulated.

  • Great point, theres no problem with loving where yu live as long as yu dont look down people who dont live there

  • Good stuff. Very unique angle!

  • lol ur awesome blunty. u really no how to keep someones eyes glued to the screen with ur great speaking techniques. ur vids hav sincerity and an upfrontness about them that is really rare these days.

  • Smartest Aussie ever. I wish the whole of Americans could understand this concept.

  • Ok Mr.Blunty you talk about people posting useless stuff and stuff that wants to make you pull your hair out I think you manged to do that with this video. Most of your work is good and this one was until the end...it didn't have a point!

  • in canada, we have beer commercials whos catchline is " I Am CANADIEN"

  • Canada is kick ass

  • In the country i come from, there is no patriotism. If we got occupied there would be no resistance lol.

  • ii am american and to tell you the true ... i wouldnt die for no country and unless it realy realy realy meant something... not like the bullshit that going on iraq, poor soldiers dying for nothing ... paotriotism is another influence that the media and goverment use to bend people to their twisted will..."so heres the question are you slave or man?"

  • your american right with your pointless worship of a cowboy president and blaitent disregard for other countrys so my friend fuck off

  • Yeehaw!

  • Go fuck yourself, your a shithole

  • That's kinda mean. I'm guessing you've been there and know this for a fact, then. But then who am I to say anything? I've never been there, and I'm pretty quick to believe the GOOD THINGS I've been told about Australia, including by people here FROM Australia.

  • Patriotism is such a great followers ideals. Its guranteed to create a degenerate mind that cant think outside of ones countries loyalties and imprison the rebel with its blind sided views. I think the Dixie Chicks are a great example of patriotism at best. Speaking out only gets one isolated amongst the masses. ~Raven

  • Yeah, im sure they really feel isolated now.

  • yeh i agree u dont have to be patriotic everyday in ur life u know. if u know ur roots and know where u were born then that's something to be proud of. u dont have to drape urself in a flag to prove that.

  • Whats being proud of your home country worth for? Americans are proud, french are proud, even afghan people are proud of their country. So whats patriotism good for?

And who needs patriotism when there is a clever thing called humanism anyway?

Sorry, I am so busy being human, I barely find the time to be a patriot.

  • Oh wow, someone who knows the truth...wow, so refreshing and lively. I salute you

  • If you live undergroudn I meant. It stays the same temperature all year round.

  • how come when i press pause, music comes on?

  • ol u dont get shot in the Uk...u get knifed :P lol, but u aussies, and Kiwis are amazing..i love England, i love the british empire..and when i raise enough money im coming yo auss..in few years =(..lol..nice vid..im patriotic brit, i walked around in twn with a the union jack on and every one was lookign at me like im afrom a different country, but the brits still shoted at saying "Nice flag mate" woop :D

  • zelda freak fuck off then!

  • Just so everyone knows, Aussie accents have got to be the hottest accents in the world. Especially the guys with accents. Mmmm...

  • I hate Australia. It is just one big pile of dirt. And I live there =(

  • An I wish I was in Aussie, I wanna live underground there, no A/C bill, and better land than Florida :(

  • Love It, True Aussie Right thtere.

Also I get irritated by fools who run around with the flag strapped around their neck on Australia Day acting like monkeys. I just find it stupid.

  • so let me get this straight?

alot of dangerous wildlife (Australia) or a large chance of being shot whenever you leave your house (UK/US)...

I'll pack my bags ima comin over

  • Hey blunty are there in Tazmania big Spiders??¿¿

  • So you're proud to be an Australian...because a lot of different animals live there?

  • I love how after he speaks on commercials the Olympics thing pops up. I am beginning to believe Blunty is not only a reasonable, funny person, but inspirational as far as how I look at things. Thank you Blunty!

  • LOL. this comment is in no way a critique of this vid. Just funny. In the middle of Blunty's shpeel about patriotism at the begining an ad appears at the bottom of the vid. What was this vid you might ask? An ad for some bank showcasing various americans cheering for the olympics with the slogan in big blue letters America's Cheer. O my reaction was just priceless. Sorry about wasting the space here. was just a story i had to tell

  • Don't you mean nationalism Blunty? Patriotism is being proud of your country, whereas Nationalism is thinking that your country is better than everyone else and anything and everything your country is therefore superior.

  • yeah we kinda messed up by sending convicts to where theres sun and cool animals and where it is genrealy nicer. we should have all gone there and sent the convicts some where shitty like wales

  • The wallaby is adorable! X3

Where I live we have Raccoons. Just as dangerous, but they steel our trash, clean it in the creek, and run off with the Blackberry-steeling coyotes... XD

  • Australia seems like a pretty wicked place wouldent mind going down for a vist sometime lol!

  • patriotism is the SHIT! why shouldn't one be proud of where he came from? you can't do too much about it and there isn't too many places in the world that are realy bad! I'm from Sweden, it's cold most of the year, the summers are not too hot and where ever you look there is a tree! It's great livi'n here!

  • haha.. f*ck no.. i live in sweden to and like you say, its cold.. its rainy and when it shuld be warm its not.. so i wold mutch more like to live in australia tan sweden.. :P

  • FAR ÅT HELVETE! It should be cold, rainy and great! Why doesn't any sweeds like Sweden?! F**K YOU!

  • helvete heller. Sverige är kallt tråkigt och så är det och kommer vara. Sen är människorna fan så tråkiga med. Förutom jag då... som insett detta Ha!

    Translation..

Fack no! Sweden is cold, boring and that's how it is and always will be. The people living there is damn boring to. Except me who realized this!

If your a swede, Immigrate to Stralia!!!

they aint no bush wankas :D

  • nice view...and was that a wild (forget the name so i will use roo) roo? i never seen one before besides in a zoo...

  • Wild Wallaby, yeah.

  • w0w dude your kidna lucky only tiem i see thoese things wild is on tv or just in a zoo... >.>

  • Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind.

And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry.

  • Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so.

How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar.

  • I used to go skydiving and I love that beautiful view! Was that you, Blunty? You're usually pretty good about explaining all that in your description area, but I don't see any claims in there this time out ;-]

  • first shot=scary!!!

  • i was hoping to go sight seeing and australia was one of the places on my list to go see

  • Again i agree with you and have been saying this same thing for a while. Here in america many people think that if you question your government (which mind you isn't even your country) then you aren't a patriot. I love america, i am not crazy about my government, and wasn't it one of the people that helped sparked our independence that said "Any true patriot will protect his country from his government"? Saddest thing is some of the smartest people i know have fallen to this manipulation.

  • in war, people talk of killing the bad guys, there are no "bad guys" the term is relative

  • MINDLESS PATRIOT

  • well said.

    spider

  • ive learned more about wallabies than patriotism on this vid :P (i already knew 8)

  • Now Now, no need to argue. We may have to blow up Russia soon. And we all need to try and be together on this one lol.

But seriously, I would love to just go to Australia, its Fing gorgeous. The States get boring, but then again, its all I know. Well at least intill late next year. And they sound cooler then us when they talk :P

  • "And they sound cooler then us when they talk :P"

Now, go tell the rest of your country this. <3

  • im not that proud to britsh as are etnich goverment have no backe bone and are most likly to not have red arows in the opening olyimpics dysplay as it is to military and shaping are culture to not affend pelpe that move to this country you cant ever go through life not affending any one

  • Great vid.

  • YEh Blunty....too true...gimme another beer ya bastard!!!...lol

  • I asked first :P

  • Yeah Aussie all the way!!!!

AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!! OI OI OI!!

  • I love how Aussies are not blindly patriotic to their contrymen in any events.

    Oh wait yes they are:

Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!!!!

Maybe thats why it irks blunty, having to hear that all the time.

  • The way you feel about Australia, is the was I feel about Canada

    Gotta love our countries :D

  • neurotoxic shock :)

  • Ah. Aussies.

Makes me wonder how much of the world is still convinced that New Zealand is part of Australia. I swear I'll hit someone who says we are. xD

New Zealand and Australia have a relationship like Canada and America, except more chummy.

    I guess..

  • Perfectly put :D

  • really, i didn't know that. i learned 1 modicum of info today. hooray for learning!

  • Anyone remember Charlie's patriotic song from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia?

    I'm gonna rise up/ I'm gonna kick a little ass/ I'm gonna kick some ass in the U.S.A./ I'm gonna climb a mountain/ I'm gonna sew a flag/ I'm gonna fly on an eagle/ I'm gonna kick some butt/ I'm gonna drive big trucks/ I'm gonna rule this world/ I'm gonna kick some ass/ I'm gonna rise up/ Gonna kick a little ass/ Rock on flyin' eagle!

  • AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!! LOL.. forgive me Blunty I HAD to say that. You know what mate, as much as you might hate politicians... I reckon you'd be a kick arse tourism minister for this fine country :)

  • k so if this isnt patriotism what would be an example of being a hugely patriotic australian?

  • Oz definitely is an amazing country.

This is one of your very best in a very long time. Thanks!

  • so very true.

  • Yeah, you can see the chair lift in front of him in the last few seconds of the video.

  • A good exaqmple of mindless patriotism is that song. "I am, you are, we are.... better than them!"

  • It's a chair lift idiot.

  • hmmm... only one letter separates E and T and it's R. Have you ever seen a typo?

  • No, I'm just pointing out how, you're calling someone an idiot yet you misspell lift.

    It's quite funny!

  • A chair life, you dumb ass.

  • I love being American as much as I love communism: It's a good idea, and systematically would be the best possible way to run things; but it doesn't work when put in to practice. I don't blame all the people of this country for the bad things that America is known for; I blame those who would take advantage of the tolerance and respect many of us have for each other. I'm American. And to me, that means I'm tolerant of other people, other nations, and anybody who's not a jerk to others.

  • But "tolerant" doesn't mean or sound to me like you enjoy meeting people from other cultures and that you learn from them you're just putting up with them,

that's how ingrained nationalism/racism is we've been taught "toleration" instead of actual acceptance and understanding.I not judging you or anything I'm just saying think about the word tolerant it's really a bad word to choose for acceptance and we all say it. LoL

  • You have a very good point, and I agree. the only thing I can say for myself is: there are some cultures that conflict with each other, and in america, rather than warring within, we tolerate and stare, and equal treatment laws prevent some people from getting away with unjust deeds. I believe world peace is impossible, but toleration in place of peace could be done. From there; acceptance could be taught to the children.

  • Agreed

  • I like my country and going around it's well worth the risk, but I have aracna phobia, which puts me down a bit XD!

  • nice shoes.

    no joke.

  • 3 places I LOVE is CANADA, AUSTRALIA, ENGLAND

  • agreed.

  • and you're a prison colony with an a weird slight antisocial tendency

  • Gay

  • I cringe whenever i hear someone being overly-patriotic here in the states...

as if waving a flag and putting a ribbon magnet on your car makes everything alright. I love where i was born, but i've lost my faith in this country.

Hell, maybe i'll hop on down there..Australia doesn't seem to bother anyone...

  • people say the whant to die for there country so far no one whants to kill for there country

  • more like they want to protect their country and ideals, or die trying

  • ok now i love liveing here and i know some of the shit we do is fucked up.i love that we have freedoms others dont i hate that people take those for granted

  • Patriotism is just a new form of tribalisim. Call it Neo-tribalisim. It's unique individual dissolved into a solution of Nationalistic Identity. People who claim themselves as patriots are actually Nationalist. Give up yourself for the "good" of the state, as oppose to the people.

Once an individual assumes to label them self in such narrow ideology it creates mental barriers to freedom; they conform their thoughts and actions to a definition that can be contained within a dictionary entry.

  • I think the term is called Communism

  • I love where live also I have been up and down the east coast as well as far west as northen territory and I have seen alot of bad as well as good.

But I am still glad I am here.

Despite what is said about howard the mintune we had a gun crisis we delt with the problem.

We live in a place were free thought is accually expressed not idolized and never accually put into action.

We are so multiculteral that melbourne has the second largest population of greeks next to athens. I being an aussie.

  • Gimmi a nother bear ya bastard! That sounds very canadian. Only change bastard with EH.

And blunty, I am Patriot two. Oh Canada!

  • I second that motion and will take a beer as well.

  • Patriotism kills.

  • I agree Psyprox, people do not equal their government and often times peoplel confuse the two. As an American, I don't approve of a lot of facets of my country, yet, I still feel lucky to have been born here as well as this era. Blunty nails that extent of patriotism on the head and is able to put words to a rather ambiguous feeling of both pride and skepticism.

  • To be a Patriot hero in one country is to be oft a terrorist to everyone else, lest there's enough propaganda covering your ass.

Example:9/11,when the USA bombed it's Twin Towers.

If you don't do this your country is going to come off as an asshole, but someone finding out that you did promotes you to dickhead.

So far the only real joy I could figure would come from 'patriotism' is being overly proud of your country, and willing to fight for it. Oh, but who represents your country? Government.

  • I'm a patriot. But i think you've interpreted patriotism wrongly, the first time i've had to...disagree with you blunt.

  • Wow, either I'm really sheltered or it's rare where I live to see such beautiful land. All the same, I envy you, and well said about patriotism, dude.

  • Not to do with the vid but-the meatspace site isn't working. When I go onto it I get an error message and then it aborts it.

  • Why'd you make a video about Australia in the Socialist Republic of Tasmainia? ;)

  • Look who's been to Launceston! To be patriotic doesn't mean you have to like everything about where you live, the idea is to try and improve it! Lol!

  • I live in the UK, there are some truly great people here, but I'm not proud of a landmass or what the majority of people seem to stand for in this country.

  • Good point and nicly spoken.

  • I really cannot blame you. I also live in the UK and to be honest, I'm more proud of my Polish roots than my British ones, for the primary reason that the majority of Brits are stupid fat lazy arseholes. There are things I love about this country, but there are too many idiots that do nothing for our international image.

  • well said - i'll agree to that.

  • I did that chairlift when I went to Tassie a few years back. It's good, isn't it?

  • i like that wallaby

  • I'm from the US and i don't like our gov. but i think im a very patriotic person towards my country

  • u think ur view is gud look at the blue mountain in katoomba

  • this better not be dammed flagged

  • like the end

screw the hangover give me another beer you barstard

  • Some countries I would find hard to be patriotic about... like Niger for example. No offence to Nigerians, but really?

I'm from England and there's quite a lot I can be proud of about this country. Apart from the weather...

  • Damn, I wish I could do that. =(

  • Super Blunty?

  • Love your view of patriotism Blunty, and you captured Australia beautifully for the overseas persons. Maybe you should work for Tourism Tasmania?

The Gorge is ... gorgeous... bad pun... havent been there in about 10 years, will do it next time I am in Launnie.

  • Didn't know you could fly...

  • blunty can do anything...

  • this vid doe nt suck compare to olymipcs one

  • I DO love it here,

but i hate it when adds say things like 'IM EXCITED' to get us to buy auzzie made stuff

  • Luke,it was Big Kev who used to say"I'm Excited!".He's been dead since 2005.

  • that was the one.

    He died? that's a shame :(

  • haha i ve been there there were peacoks everywhere

  • + aussies can fly as demonstrated by the video

  • yay blunty!

  • I agree with you. I don't like to be a blind patriot, but...what's wrong with being proud of your country?!!!!

And that photography was just awesome...Australia really does seem like a badass place for a vacation XD

  • see the problem is u cant really say 'god bless America' without implying that he not bless everywhere else. As the video says the purpose of patriotism is to unify for a cause. and that cause is dictated by those in power(government).

  • Yes, I know...I'm not found of it myself. The whole concepts seems like another excuse for mind-control.

But come on, man, I want to be proud of the land I come from! Not blindly worship it, but...you get where I'm coming from, right? Just like Blunty did in this video!

  • Ever since i was little ive always wanted to live in australia and with enough luck i will in a few years.

  • want to swap passports?

  • Cool scenery there, Nate!

    o(^-^)o

  • Mindless Patriotism is a way to lead to cloudless judgement. Patriotism is good but comes in many different forms, not just following the politicians or government officials on what they say.

Nice video Blunty, looking forward to see where else you're going to take us.

  • MIKMA WAS HERE

  • Great pov! Panoramicly (is that a word?) and logically speaking.

  • Come to Australia. You might accidently get killed. :P

    I love Aussie Land.

Except I am still afraid of Kangaroos after I saw one maul a girl I knew in primary school.

  • I like the new slogan: "screw the hangover, give me another beer you bastard" lol Awesome

  • everyone should be proud of their nationality. every single one of the 120+ countries is unique, and it's good to be unique. of course, blind patriotism is never a good thing. take pride in your country, but also take time to appreciate the nationality of those around you

  • I have to disagree. Mindless patriotism was the reason I joined the military. I had no cruel intentions only the wish to serve my country well, as "a foot soldier" (Not literally think of me as a pawn) Not always are the politicians wrong when they claim a task to be worthy of natural interest to go send soldiers to fight for it. Because of our military the rest of our country can more easily do their everyday task knowing that our government with the help of such soldiers is looking for harm.

  • I hear what your saying, but I still think this ere's on the side of too idealistic. Glad that you serve your country but I like to think it more in terms as you serve your people.

  • You should be the president of the planet.

  • I find it ironic that the ad on your video is about cheering for the Olympics considering your last video LOL

  • EVERYBODY should visit Australia, i love this country :) to go without Australia is just silly. visit the Great Barrier Reef, Ayers Rock (if it's still called that this week, god knows it changes so much) and yeah.. Did i mention i Love this country in which i am a part of!

  • I think it's very true what you say here Mr. Blunt. You can have problems with your government, but still love your homeland. I had a friend from Venezuela who felt the same way, she disagreed with her governemnt but loved her nation and people with a passion. She eventually left for Spain for school. Last I spoke to her, she was very homesick.

Nice video post, keep the great vids coming!

  • Your cynism could power a starship. I like that...

  • cynism is not a word

  • Well, Excuuuuuuussse me!!. If my spelling offends you, dial 1800-eat-shit!

  • "Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind."

    Albert Einstein

  • I would love to visit Australia. I'm from Argentina, so it's not that far.

  • I do agree that mindless patriotism is always a bad thing, and I agree that having pride in one's country is not a bad thing. If it was, we'd still be British colonies.

  • Loved that vid :) Peacefull

  • Its kinda interesting that Australia has most of the worlds deadliest creatures yet the least amount of deaths by wildlife

  • Top notch vid as usual Blunty. Actually, it's those poisonous crawlies that are one of the biggest reasons why I am moving Down Under once I graduate and get my degree...and dammit I can't wait. Oz=Epic Win...period.

  • My god, an american who's heard of australia. Shock Horror!!!

  • yeah i think aussie is great... i hate living in britain its a shit hole.... one great thing about you guys is the accent... its class lol

  • im also proud of living in Denmark.

    maybe i shouldt see Australia...?

  • the first 15 seconds are full of win, the rest is to, but those 15 seconds top them all

  • I agree 100% I've been to Australia twice. The 2nd time for 6 months and I love your country. Probably as much as my own. A beautiful place, dangerous critters not withstanding.

  • Looked like a nice place, my brother's friend has moved to Austrailia now apparantly O_o

  • Also, I'm a fan of the background music.

  • Why the hell is there a chair lift going over that terrain? lol. I typically see those at amusements parks and ski resorts :p

  • Because aussies aren't pussies ;P

  • Patriotism = Nationalism nowadays.

  • where'd you get the fairy dust? so sad... I'll never fly.
