  • Sterile field was broken when she picked up the second glove!!! The ungloved hand should only touch the part of the paper where the folds are, which is considered your one inch border. When she picked up the second glove, she put her ungloved hand on the paper, breaking sterile field!!!!

  • @maverickcj I think she is right. The sterile field is not break coz inside the paper is still sterile field. She was already break the sterile field when she open up the paper for the first time when her hand touch the table.

  • Great video, i would like to invite you to view my video on you tube (weldbuilt corporation latex glove donning machine) it takes 3 seconds to put latex gloves on, i hold the US and Canadian patent.. Thank you, Kurwin Binder.

  • Thank you very much! I'm an Italian student in medicine and I'm having an exam the next week, I was searching exactly this!!! :)

  • I am confused, who is Don Gloves? Kidding, I wish they had you tube when I was going through nursing school. My advise is to find your gloves size and remeber it. Try to remeber the size of the Docs you work with too...they like it when you bring them the right size. I am an 8 1/2...yes, I am male :)

  • the first glove inserted is improper.. look!

  • @0206jhuna I think is doesnt matter the first is improper cos she can adjust it after insert the second glove. That what I think.

  • i like your rubber gloves.. i have a g tube and i change it with rubber gloves i live larde gloves........ what size do you like?

  • am i right it should be skin to skin glove to glove that is the principle we usu. use in our area.

  • oooo you are weeee bit british oooooo

  • where do you buy thoose packets `?

  • Thank you for posting this vid, I have a skills exam in front of my class next week and this video demonstrates sterile glove donning in a concise but thorough manner that I found very helpful!

  • how does she keep it from rolling? evry time i do that it rolls. and i have messed up fingers that lock. so how can i get them on that easy? someone email me. a message a video something. i need help.

  • @mirijuanicobanda

It is tricky and takes practice. Try this, rub the cuff of the first glove together between your fingers to loosen it up before putting your fingers in (this part will be next to your hand and non sterile so OK to touch it like this). Try to get your fingers in the right postion but don't panic if you don't, you can get them right once you have both gloves on.

  • @midteach

    @mirijuanicobanda

Now rub the second glove with the sterile thumb and fingers of the other hand to loosen it up before slipping your fingers under the cuff and inserting your other hand. Once you have repositioned the other cuff you can realign your fingers if necessary. I have been doing this for years and still sometimes it is tricky. When you are learning it is sometimes good to go with a slightly larger size. Keep practicing. all the best

  • her gloves don't fit on her hands lol!

  • hey those latex gloves are so gorgeous indeed

  • I remember when I volunteered at a hospital ICU and one of the patients coded and nurse screamed for someone to bring her sterile gloves, so I ran for some regular gloves that comes in the rectangular boxes. I was so embarrassed when she yelled and me and said "No! I need sterile gloves!!!"

  • (NOT MY REAL ACCOUNT): oh man,I'm ashamed at myself,I failed during my duty...

first off,I've had an error on putting my gloves on,next is putting a foley cath in the patient's penis when it's having a seizure..

it's a problem,I'm always having this "panic" thing..

but I must say, this video helped me,thank you midteach..

btw, reply on my account oyametalicus(MY ACCOUNT) if you want..thanks again

  • Some of you are being real jerks and are obviously not in the medical industry. She isn't trying to argue with you over the presence of microorganisms at all rather than showing nursing students a refresher on donning sterile gloves for activities such as dressing changes, drain care, etc.

Thank you midteach! This is a great alternative for me for nursing check-offs. Your technique is exactly how our nursing instructors show and like the CD ROM tutorials we have.

  • Sepisepsep is correct, sterility is a concept only. As soon as a sterile packet is opened it is contaminated no matter what you do. The goal is to minimise contamination.

  • whats

  • I did not forget about the ring I wore FlaShukuNing If you look you will see that the ring will not come off. It is my wedding band. I am very careful with hand washing and clean under and around the ring but other that chopping off my finger or having the ring cut off there is nothing else I can do about this. Having been a nurse and midwife for 35 years, it is permissible to wear a simple gold band, nothing else.

  • Could you be more specific Keshia017? Explain when and how this is a horrible technique and the gloves are contaminated?

  • Keisha, are you an idiot?

  • Horribe technique. Those gloves were contaminated.

  • Comment removed

  • Looks fine to me.

  • not that perfect!!!she forgot about the ring she wore..the ring cannot be sterile unless she bring it to the autoclave..

  • as students, we are permitted to wear a watch, small post earrings, and a single wedding band.

  • Protegrity/Triflex are the best gloves.

  • ur supposed to open the flap up top first.

  • i would prefer a drop technique at the beginning.

  • where can you buy sterile gloves from??

  • Excellent technique. Please be informed however that hand washing must be done first before gloving.....especially under examination conditions. Or at the very least, inform the examiner that I would like to wash my hands first BEFORE actually demonstrating your gloving technique!

  • you are so good thats the right way im in medical class and thats the way that i learn goood job !!!

  • You are right BeeABaw. Sterility is really a concept rather than a reality. As soon as they are exposed they are potentially contaminated, the idea is to keep contamination as low as possible.

  • how can they be still sterile when you open them dont the get contamated from the air born virus and bacteria.

  • When using sterile gloves it is presumed that you are in a sterile environment with a mask on. 99.99% sterility still applies, meaning that nothing can be sterile, and the purpose of practicing sterility is to MINIMIZE the risk of transferring pathogens to the environment, client, or to oneself.

  • but there is no such thing as FREE from micro organisms..

    it's like everything is contaminated..

just like what she said: "keep the contamination

    as low as possible"

  • Beautifully done!

  • Great! this is what I need for my return demonstration..... thanks!

  • Plain bands are allowed. Unfortunately my gold band will not come off.

  • nice video but you still have to put your jewelry away it might destroy the gloves. =)

    (ring finger)

  • doing a rotation at a hospital, needed to brush up on this technique

    thanks

  • Great video-cheers
