I never considered myself a good drummer in the first place but i do have a heart for people and maybe thats why God allowed me to be able to play for such a great band like Pillar. @taylorguapo Hey man it's not that you're a bad drummer at all, its just that you had HUGE shoes to fill by replacing Lester..which is why I stand by what I said. Lester was one of the biggest if not the only reason myself and many others got into Pillar, which would explain the hate on you, but that's Lester's fault and not your's. I thought I remembered reading an article after you joined recently kind of arrogantly downplaying Lesters skills but I could be wrong and I apologize if I am.rockon
You know, I would say some comment about Taylor sucking compared to Lester but everyone else has done that so I don't really think my opinion matters. And I think this guy can definitely do the job if not as well as Lester.
All I can say is I would hate to be the new guy in a band and getting haters :P.
This is the 1st time I have ever got to watch Taylor play. I have never seen the new lineup live. Taylor is sick. His Risen kit looks and sounds amazing. Joe Rickard the 2nd and current drummer for the band Red did all the drum work for Pillars confessions album. I think .Lester estelle style is a little smoother then Taylors, but Taylor is a best. Dude looks and sounds very gifted and talented.
wow i really came off as a hater earlier, sorry about that. props to taylor, he seems like a solid drummer, and i'm sure he's a cool dude, but his drumming is very one-dimensional compared to lester's, that's a fact, this stuff is child's play for lester.. he simply lacks the finesse/swag/creativity/diversity lester brings to the set, i loved and miss how lester was able to incorporate his heavy gospel/funk/jazz influences into heavy rock music much like longineu parsons and thomas pridgen.
Ok, to all the trolls saying how terrible Taylor is and all this other crap, you don't know what you are talking about. And to @jutuz, every drummer has his own "style", there is a BIG difference between style and genre. Lester has a very different style than Taylor, and you can hear that listening to Pillar's old albums compared to Confessions. I've never heard Taylor brag about being better than Lester or an amazing drummer. He is one of the nicest/coolest guys I've met so lay off.
this guy has nothing on lester... even worse, instead of humbly admitting it like a man, i remember this guy saying some bs like "we have different styles"... truth is lester excels at all styles and is levels above this guy. i really hate to come off as an internet keyboard warrior... but if this is all the talent required to play in pillar they should have chosen me instead. best of luck to pillar, but i quit pillar when lester quit.
@richierichdrums88 Lester was amazing yes, but guess what he isn't coming back hes now the drummer for Stars Go Dim. Taylor has a different style of drumming, but still very very very good. I'm a big fan of Pillar and see that having Taylor has given Pillar a new edge to their style helping them to grow more as a band.
