  • I agreed with truthslayer, Roh should put more content on youtube, and spread disturbtion of their DVDs. I live in miami and my local FYE really only sells FIP dvds.

  • we only wanna hear about WWE and TNA

  • if YOU only wanna hear about wwe and tna then i suggest you stop watching truthslayers videos.

  • I'm glad ROH is making cutbacks, at least it shows they're being very careful with their money so they don't go the way of ECW.

In the words of Terry Funk: As long as you make a profit you are a successful wrestling promoter. ROH has made a profit, how many millions of dollars are TNA down again?

  • TNA!

  • sucks

  • How?

  • ...and try to come up with something original and not the typical "They stole WWE wrestlers" or "They keep pushing the wrong guys."

  • How about those PPV buys? =D Yea there. Seriously how can you support them when the WWE has like 3 times more than TNA? 38,000 for BFG? That's what you called a company? Hell UFC gets 1 million buys every single PPV. Please tell us why TNA is so great.

  • I like WWE (not a lot), ROH, UFC, New Japan, and pretty much any other promotion. I'm not saying TNA is the best (although it look like I did) I'm just saying that most of the show is worth watching and for people who say it's ALL bad, are just biased against Bill and Doug and transfer it to TNA.

I don't care about buyrates or ratings which is the same crap I hear people say over and over again on here because they have nothing else to say. Can you honestly say that TNA is completely bad?

  • Since I watch TNA for Joe, and TNA doesn't use Joe properly and TNA has Angle who acts just like HHH burying people left and right. How can I watch TNA? It's really not that well right now. 2005 TNA is awesome, this TNA is so-so. Shark Boy is terrible, the X-division is being crushed. The booking is not so good. The PPV's last year have been either good to eh to shite.

Is TNA that terrible? Not really, however it's not growing that much.

  • How is Angle burying people like HHH? HHH is completely horrible when it comes to putting guys over, Angle has put over Kaz and Lethal, guys that everyone wanted to see go over.

It's true, the X Division isn't as good as it used to be, but you think WWE is any better? The entire roster is not being used right because Vince wants it all to be about Cena and HHH and it's been like that for years.

Don't get me wrong I think ROH is the best, but TNA isn't as bad as people say it is.

  • WWE really has only two saving graces. Smackdown and ECW. Otherwise it's sort of the same old stuff that they had before. Well Angle completely buried Joes, then Abyss, now even Cage.

Lethal got over because he was already over and Jarret probably likes him. Kaz, he is home-grown talent that people just like. Unlike Shelton, Jarret is using him for the right reasons. Unlike Vince with Shelton. I really can find only a couple situations where Angle buried people. Otherwise my point is moot.

  • Thats why I've been saying that it is not TNA that is making itself look bad, it's the TNA fanboys that inadvertently make TNA look like shit.

  • na na na na na na na eh eh eh good bye

na na na na na na na eh eh eh good bye

  • Your talking about TNA right?

  • LOL @ internet wrestling WARZ!!! I like TNA and ROH, although it is hard to follow it.

I'd like ROH it improve their DVD turnarounds simply because it will decrease the release times of SHIMMER DVDs, where they are WAY behind (Kong got a SHIMMER title shot the same weekend as her TNA debut, yet the only people who've seen it are the 200 or so in the Eagle's Club that night).

  • instantclassic7 (2 hours ago) Show Hide Marked as spam 0 Reply | Spam also, you have to take into account how many ROH fans got paid.

    I haven't gotten paid yet...

  • 'ROH fans get paid'? What the hell? I think someone has ROH confused with TNA.

  • No, unlike in ROH, people willing pay their hard earned $30 to watch quality wrestling in TNA.

  • quality wrestling in TNA, that is funny

  • LOL, yeah, those quality main events with Kevin Nash and three minute ladder matches.

  • It's funny how many people think that TNA is putting on an awful wrestling product.

Some of the booking decisions may be ridiculous, but I find it funny how many people question the wrestling product in TNA.

  • also, you have to take into account how many ROH fans got paid.

  • Is Kota Ibushi still coming in?

  • TheBuck26-Yup, yup.

  • yes

  • that kid is amazing... is he seriously leaving DDT? (about time if he is)

sorry to doubt, but is there a source for this? how long is he going to work ROH shows for?

  • we want danzig!

  • WCW does?

  • I hope ROH sticks to their success formula and stays a 'fiercely independent' promotion. I don't think the industry as a whole is growing, so it's not realistic for ROH to have agressive growth goals.

However, cost cutting is a red flag to trouble in the promotion.

  • I'm sure it's not a big thing. If it got a TV deal then all of a sudden this happened I'd be worried, but I'm almost sure this happened before and they're still around.

  • FullmetalNinja25-This is what I'm talking about. You know nothing about the original ECW. ECW never really focused on hardcore wrestling. ECW like other companies let their wrestlers do what ever they wanted. That's how it had so many hardcore matches. CZW on the other hand from its inception has focused on ultra violent "wrestling". However, they have toned it down.

  • Cmike-

After the first major talent raid by WWF/WCW, after the 1st PPV, most of the guys that were left in ECW were "hardcore guys". So, in a way, ECW, post 1st PPV, the first time when the general audience was exposed to the product, was focused on hardcore because that's what a lot of the guys that were left were good at.

  • Good video. I agree with a lot of your points. The website could be better, they should do more on youtube etc. But I think it's very hard to get into ROH, with the 6 week turnaround on releasing DVDs. They should make that time quicker for sure.

  • ROH will never make it big on television. I don't like saying that, but if they get on telvision nationally or internationally, they'll have to do what TNA did and ECW failed to do and that's change to meet the demand.

It's sad that Bret Hart/Chris Benoit (which took up half of a 2-hour episode of NITRO) only pulled in a 2.5, whereas Mankind/Rock "This is your life" pulled in like 8.0, the highest rating WWE has ever had.

  • i don't think this news will seriously affect the quality of ROH shows.

  • nice video, but I really, reaaallyy, hate that music you have in the end, blow my speakers up.

  • your right i think all the companies should put up daily or weekly you tube only matches

  • Im the opposite, I was definitely shocked to hear this news. I thought ROH would be ROLLING in money from a boost in DVD sales and interest in the product... I hope they can make it as big as TNA, hopefully bigger. 2hr TV, video game, monthly PPVs etc... I guess it'll take a lot of time now. C'mon ROH! We need you lol! They should open their forums to more people and fans!!

How much did Misawa cost?? 5 digits I guess... Im assuming a Kobashi return is out of the question for a long while now.

  • Quick question, TSlay,

I was reading some stuff on 411mania, and one of the columnist's wrote an excellent piece, making

an interesting analysis of the situation that ROH is in.

To sum things up, he made the example of comparing ROH to Smokey Mountain Wrestling; too big of a promotion to be an indies, but too small a promotion to be major.

    Thoughts?

  • "Roh doesn't have financial backing like TNA does, like WCW does."

What? lol. I hope that was an accident.

  • Should have been did

  • ROH buy rates are awful

And this guy actually attacked TNA buy rates

    lmao

  • ROH doesn't have a television deal, and doesn't have enough exposure on network television; nor are they doing a strong enough job exposing themselves on the internet, especially here on YouTube.

TNA has a major, nationally syndicated television show on cable television - their buyrates should be stronger.

    Suck on the facts, bitch.

  • Is there need to insult people after you have made a good point?

  • yes; people are dumbasses, and only get the point when they've been insulted into submission.

  • No that is a assumtion when you insult you only lower th value of your point no matter how vaild. If someone made a valid point to me and then insulted me I would remember the insult more its just natural for humans. And if you have a good enough point you don't need to resort to insutls

  • No. That point is only in regard for two intelligent people holding a worthwhile conversation where both people contribute; in this case, it was a moron who didn't even know the buyrates of TNA or ROH but still felt the need to comment negatively towards ROH like it was the most natural thing in the world and how dare anyone be a moron for disagreeing (hence lmao).

In other words, the exact opposite of what this has been.

  • TNA only has better more exposure since they have good wrestlers. And their buyrates are "bigger" because they have had alot of PPV's before. If ROH had a TV deal, they would become Sports Entertainment. Granted, I agree with you on the internet part.

  • I think until they can get a TV deal they like ROH should try and make a deal with Real Networks to do a weekly show on their website like TNA did after they lost FSN.

  • For the most part I think that ROH should stick to its own roster instead of bringing in guys from other companies.

With that said I think that they should do a ROH vs PWG fued on the West Coast to help them out like the ROH vs CZW fued did.

  • ... i'm not so sure of that.

What would the basis of a PWG/ROH feud be? With CZW, it was a major clash over, essentially, which style of wrestling was truly wrestling. it was Western Strong Style vs. Deathmatch Hardcore, and both audiences ate it up.

    What would PWG bring in?

  • I am sure that they could think of something that would have both companies expand from coast to coast.

  • If they come up with something, good.

It'd be good for guys like Tornado, Joey Ryan and others to get some big time indy exposure on the East Coast.

And, just to be a bit selfish, let Chuck Taylor get in on the feud too.

    The guy's gimmick is hilarious!

  • Truthslayer have you watched the

Vince McMahon, A Genius! videos from Bill and Doug and I think you should make Dixie Carter, A Genius!

  • lol

What accomplishments has Dixie Carter lauded about that weren't earned. Granted, Panda is providing the money to keep them afloat. Still, in the 5 years of existence, what can you honestly say that Dixie and TNA achieved that they didn't earn?

If you really look at, World Wrestling Entertainment WAS and IS built off the hard work of a lot of other people that are never recognized.

C'mon, the biggest star that WWE ever had, Hogan, was built for years in the AWA.

  • That's a very good point Hogan was indeed built by Verne Gagne in the AWA, Vince just showcased him to the best of his abilities

  • scipio2009-You believe that fucking propaganda that TNA puts out don't you? Jerry and Jeff Jarret where the ones who got TNA that T.V deal, and even some investors. They have been involved in this business for decades, hell; they even ran their own promotion. Not only that but TNA is highly dependant on financial backing and Dixie's parents have enough money (Billionaires) to hand her tons of money when she ask. And have you not been noticing TNA ripping off the E?

  • ROH has been ripping off WWE and TNA alot lately. Daniel Puder's submission challenge is a copy of the Masterlock challenge, for example. Chris Hero and Castagnoli's (sp?) is very similar to HHH and Orton's feud when Orton was removed from Evolution.

    Get your facts straight, son.

  • DynamicSphinx-You're a dick. Hero and Castagnoli were a tag team. They were never in a stable simultaneously. The only time they were involved in a faction was when they took CZW's side against ROH. Get your facts straight.

  • So what they were a tag team? They collaborated with each other just like HHH and Orton. Not only that, it's a copy of James Storm and Chris Harris's split as well.

Follow your own advice and get your facts straight. Hit me up when ROH gets a storyline that doesnt make people sleep.

  • ROH/CZW was a pretty interesting angle.

  • 1) The Jarrett's were responsible for getting TNA on TV.

    2) Already said in the prior comment, but Panda Energy is financially keeping TNA afloat.

3)Vince Russo, the lead writer for WWF's second boom, is the TV writer for TNA and is trying to use a lot of those old ideas.

    Three points.

How is that enough for a satire of Dixie Carter?

  • I'd hardly call that lame reverse battle royal a great idea, and the blindfold match. Please, the BF match was one of the worst concepts in wrestling history, watch the Jake Roberts vs. Martel match from a few years back to find out why. Plus I feel that TNA overdoes gimmick matches. It's way too gimmicky. It's one thing to have a gimmick match once and a while, but not like three or four gimmick matches on every PPV. It's just way too much.

  • What does any of that have to do with Dixie Carter?

  • to:scipio2009 I disagree with your third point because russo isnt the lead writer in creative that would be dutch mantell who by the way has final say before it goes up for approval by jarret.

  • First off, why is everyone now trying to avoid the direct response. All that says is that you don't have the confidence in your opinion holding up to being questioned, and that's a little embarrassing.

Second, creatively, Jarrett and Mantel are responsible for creatively putting together the wrestling product, however, Russo is the one most often responsible in taking Jarrett and Mantel's creative ideas and putting them together into a TV show, ie he WRITES the TV.

  • I dont care about your debate i was just trying to inform you that Russo isnt the lead creative that would be Mantel and Jarret NOT RUSSO! How is it going to be his fault when he dosent have the final say in creative cause you seemingly make it sound like its all russo's fault. Just cause he may write mantel's ideas into tv dosent mean its his fault. who is the one with the final say for the tv russo writes? THE HEAD CREATIVE AND JARRET!

  • RUSSO WRITES THE TV!!!!

let it sink in a bit.

Mantel and Jarrett maybe the main guys booking the actual product, but RUSSO IS THE ONE WRITING THE FUCKING TELEVISION!!!

The lead writer for RAW is Brian Gerwitz, but I can bet that he isn't the one making the decisions of what angles to go with.

It's not that hard to see.

Next time, don't waste my time.

  • yes but some people who cant watch G4(likeme) cant see the business, let it come on on FX late nights and FX will let it do whatever it wants to do

  • G4 is the shit

  • I just started really getting into Ring of Honor because of the new ppv. Before that I tried, but i just couldn't. There wasn't enough online content to get me interested. I feel that ROH should put maybe more matches from house shows, they arent putting on PPV...another thing that bothers me about ROH..is with the ppv's not being up to date with current ROH. I mean if it was maybe a week before it aired, but the two months is too much..it loses some value with that...like the surprise value.

  • DVD's are released about 6 weeks after they are filmed. Takes a few days to get the DVDs in the mail. They are about up to date with what anybody would have seen, without giving anything away.

  • LOL they cant even pay there expenses they make such little money. what a profit there making. go ahead put thumbs down on this ROH fanboys. youve got the best wrestling but the worst of everything else

  • arhymemaster-At least ROH still pays for wrestler's flights and hotels unlike that company. That company has another company backing them up financially when ROH is independent. Burnt! Let's not forgot that some guys in (Guess) are getting paid only $500/w. In closing, think and know before you post.

  • make some damn videos instead of making comments, I wanna see another crazymike vid, not read his damn comments, where da vids at, pwn some people on what they think they know

  • What is the difference? It is still crazymike. Is reading too cerebral for you?

  • yomommabeezy246-(Lol)No problem.

  • yeah no problem, you better because the last video you made about the roh elitist was tight

  • Just a heads up Cmike, but it's actually $500/appearance. If you're able to get on TV for one segment, a bottom guy would get $500.

And, for the record, most TNA regulars are making $700 per appearance.

Let's make an example. A couple weeks ago was Sharkboy Impact, in which Sharky was in, if I remember correctly, 4 segments. For that one taping, Sharkboy, a TNA regular, probably made a bit under $3000 for that taping.

For 2 days of work, most TNA regulars make $1500.

    That's not bad.

  • scipio2009-Legitamite source please. Yeah TNA is really going to pay Shark boy $3000 in one T.V taping. HAHAHAHA-Are you out of your mind? Everyone's contract is not the same.

  • CMike- No for sure date off the top of my head, but I remember WON, around last february, starting to bring up appearance fees for TNA talent.

Newbie/Squash guys would make $500 per appearance, TNA regulars would make $700 per appearance, and the older established guys, Sting, Angle, Cage etc., would make more than that.

Now, is an appearance just being booked for the show or being booked for a segement, who knows.

Point is, in that one taping Sharkboy made anywhere from $1500-$3000.

  • TNA guys make more than ROH guys. In addition, TNA guys get national and international exposure.

    You lose.

  • DynamicSphinx-Everyone has a different salary moron. Not only that but TNA guys are SUPPOSE to get paid more than ROH guys. Typical TNA mark! Every little thing has to be blown out of proportion.

  • Putting your childish remarks aside (characteristic of intellectually checkmated twats), it seems that you DO agree with me.

  • Exposure is a given, they're on TV you dumbass.

  • When the ignorant WWE fans trashed on TNA for failing to pay for expenses for their workers, I jumped in and defended TNA - what makes you think I'll allow idiotic TNA fans to trash ROH for this decision?

Better start thinking before you post.

  • First thing I got to say is this is somewhat bad news but God knows that TNA fanboys will spin this around to. I agree the west coast tour probably hurt them a allot and the cost of going to Japan & U.K. People that buy the ppv's aren't going out their way to buy the dvd online but maybe the two dvds coming in stores in April will help them. Those ppl on the rohmessage board are mostly idiots anyway.

  • People who bought the ROH PPV didn't go out of their way to get DVDs because, for the most part, they already bought the DVDs that they've wanted to see.

I've seen one commercial for the ROH PPVs, in total. How are you supposed to draw in the new fans to this product if people, who aren't already fans of ROH, don't know that anything is going on?

  • "TNA fanboys" you have a problem, This video is about ROH and how them making cuts in not the end of the world.

  • lol.

What does that have to do with anything?

  • It has to do with you not taking out the dick of TNA to pay attention to anything you just go with what you want to think in not the facts. God you are worst then Bill & Doug hell at least they make vids to dickride TNA and not spam ppl vids with a million fuckin comments to try to get TNA name out.

  • lol

The most respected wrestling publication on the net, Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writes an article about how ROH is cutting costs and isn't making the "profits" that you've been harping on, and now your panties are in a bunch.

    lol.

All I put in my comment is that ROH fans bought ROH's PPV, and from the number of PPV buys and the lack of impact on the ROH's DVD market, that's a pretty fair assessment to make.

If I've brought up any point that's completely wrong, say it.

    lol.

  • I like ROH. I would admit the ROH has been better than TNA the last 2 years. But you have a problem sir. TNA(and their "fanboys") have nothing to do with the points brought up in tslay video.

Whats Has Bill and Doug got to do with anything ? This is my second comment replying to you in this video so I not spamming.

  • that comment I put wasn't directed at you it was directed to scipio2009

  • And it looks like I'm right, AGAIN!

Stick to posting DVDs, you can't fail at that.

  • just wonderin, do you think this will effect the 6th anniversery show?

  • So much for ROH is making a "profit." ROH will be weeded out within 2 years. TNA will dominate forever.

  • Dominating who?

  • ROH and PWG

  • Go ahead dumbass (dynamic bullshitter), spread the word of your favorite bullshit promotion.

  • Yes, please go ahead making a fool of yourself (again).

  • i think with the two dvds being in retails will get more ppl into roh product and i do agree more video wires like twice or three times a month.

  • The only thing with just having the two DVDs in a big retail store, without much advertisement or promotion, is that you're expecting and hoping for general wrestling fans to walk in and commit their money to a "new" wrestling product with a bunch of names that they probably haven't heard of.

In my opinion, it's going to end up the same way the PPV deal did; old ROH fans with access to the retail DVDs will buy them while most general fans won't want to commit their money to an unknown product.

  • My only gripe with ROH is their awful use of the internet. There should be MUCH more shit on YouTube. Their forums don't even let you join. And they don't update their site enough. Other than that, I'm happy with the product.

  • If they did what TNA does then it would be kinda boring. Look at just how many tna vids there are, somethings that they show also last up to only three minutes. It's just a waste for a company to produce that much in a single day.

  • lol

TNA, for the most part, uses the internet to show recap clips of Impact and TNA Today, mainly used to help hype ShopTNA, the live events and some of the international syndicate matches that they produce for Xplosion.

How is that a waste of time?

TNA Today usually get's 100,000 views an episode, at least. That pretty much comes out to 70,000-80,000 people seeing a commercial for the TNA product, with TNA not having to pay for it.

Just imagine if ROH utilized the internet like that.

  • Why should ROH have to? Have you seen the jimmy rave video just released? It was a waste of time. It was thirty seconds max. I'd rather watch a long video that actually has value to it. The value of that Jimmy Rave video didn't have much of a highlight to his career at all. It certainly didn't make me want to continue watching TNA because it was nonsense.

  • TNA just put up 4 videos.

The first one is to help introduce Peyton Banks, Roode's new valet.

The second one is a clip, introducing and putting over the new look, RR Infection.

The third one is to give people a slight taste of some of Jimmy Rave's in ring ability, with him hitting a nice spot.

And the last one is TNA Today, which I haven't watched yet.

Every vid that they put up today had very basic goals and accomplished the goal in the shortest time possible.

    lol

  • And they need to do all that small showcasing withing 4 different videos uploaded in one day...when roh kills time with around 9 min. and 59 seconds max.

  • lol

and you still seem to miss the point.

Until you can get the actual point through your head, this is a waste of time, primarily on your part.

  • That tna sucks at delivering videos, yeah ok I get it now...

  • You still fail to realize that TNA accomplished just as much as a 10 minute video would've had in 2 minutes.

getting the point of the video across in the shortest time possible, without having to pay to air your video, to more than 20,000 prospective people.

    lol

  • Just because a video is named something doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be getting it's point across. Would you think that curry man and tiger mask vid was worth watching? Because I thought it was just a waste of my time. lol they should air a whole episode of impact then through 90 vids a day.

  • Peyton Banks video: 15,243 views

    (~13000 people)

Jimmy Rave video #1: 9886 views (~8000 people)

Jimmy Rave video #2: 7526 views (~6000 people)

Curry Man/Tiger Mask video: 40,738 views

    (~38000 people)

Each video was just for a quick intro of the talent, no more no less. Best of all they picked up a bit of exposure for the talent without paying for anything.

    lol

  • eh good enough, but their vids should be longer for their world wide audience.

  • when r u goin to do another Q and A

  • My first time ever encountering ROH was through the ppv man up. I liked man up so much that I started to learn more about ROH and I purchased four dvds. Since then I have watched those four dvds and I am hooked ROH is by far my favorite wrestling promotion, and I cannot wait to buy more dvds.

  • As of right now, the first NWA Showcase on the NWA website has had just under 2,000 hits. The second edition only has 705 hits. That is pretty disappointing, as I thought both were quite solid.

And great video, I was hoping you would address this topic.

  • hey truthskayer is there any indys, in washington state

  • They are just not going to have all the guys on all the shows which they do alot of the times anyway.

  • wwe not wcw
