Well I have answered this before but here goes again.

It is a 100mw NOVA X-Series

It has a duty cycly of 100sec on and 10sec off however I never go above 60secs and always wait at least 30secs minimum for cool down.

I have a NOVA X series and it is only 55 mw MAX. That is turned all the way up, and the limiting resistor completly removed, how did you get 100 mw? and did you use instrumentation to actually measure the output? Just curious how you got so much from a 50 to 60 mw MAX diode?

You need to research more before you reply. They are not 55mw max. You can purchase X Series ranging from 15mw to 150mw. This is a stock X-85 with a rating of 100mw peak and 91mw average.

not to be rude, but I had access to equipment that measures the power output of the laser, it was at max, and only 55 mw...BUT, it was the only one tested, so it could have been a fluke or a bad diode? I believe you, I know others that have got much more power out of their laser pointers. So I will agree, it is possible, it is just my luck to always end up with the "runt" of the bunch ;-)

I may have gave you the wrong impression. I was just saying that 55mw max does not apply to all x series. Do you know what model you have? You could have a X-50.

yes, you were right, it is the 55 watt version. I have 2 of the 100 mw laser in transit at this time, should have one by Friday and the other by next Thursday, can't wait to get them. I am going to "co-phase them in a singe package with an adjustment screw to be able to focue both beams on the same point, I should get a bit of heat from that. Also, these make a great camping tool for starting fires.

Yes at that rating it will cause damage before you can blink. I would recommend getting the saftey goggles for those or anything over 5mw.

Well they can make the beam thicker. Just no point for it at this power rating. Would be useless as a burner then.

Well I did not mod this laser. I posted this as a reply. Those videos you see with folks turning the pot are mostly fake. You will gain some power from them but I really doubt you will take a 5mw laser pen and turn it into a burning monster like the videos show.
