  • I've owned the Pitch Black Mastersound HH, Crash and 22" ride. I'd have to say the HiHat is my favorite part of this grouping. It's very crisp, but has a good midrange to it. In recordings it sounds great.

However, what I have learned about the crash is you need to hit is harder than your typical crash to get the sound you are looking for.

The Ride is warm and sounds like a Ride should sound.

  • gross

  • black alphas and pitch blacks sucks balls and their a huge waste of money

  • pitch black china sounds like ASS

  • overall if you like the sound of the cymbals go ahead and buy them:/ nut they are actually low quality cymbals. the first cymbal i ever did buy was the 20" ride and i honestly think it sounds relly good but the rest i could live without. now i use meinl as all of my cymbals except for the ride/ i think unless the pitch black ride breaks or i get a meinl mb20 20" ride or the signature ride that chris adler made cuz its awesomeeeeeeee. but the ride is a pretty good sound, the rest? ehhh.. have fun

  • @kittyman2224 i meant to say unless i get those rides i dont think im going to change any time soon:p forgot lol

  • with the exception of the china, there not that bad.

  • @antonioaquila wow somebody else sees my point too

  • @slaughteredband i actually like the hats, i just like the AAXcelerator and happen to own a pair

  • @antonioaquila Those are aewsome hats. My cousin owns a pair and they are VERY crisp. Alot more than any Zildjian Mastersound hats that I've played.

  • @Suiax You may want to have your ears checked. These are horrible.

  • fuck zildijan

  • @dHANNESd fuck the cymbal brand that u use

  • @slaughteredband no, why? my friend, on the one hand, ive got an endorsement and YOU not. But ok, its your own "taste" if you like zildian.

  • I have Zildjian Custom A's, and they're uber shiny and sound great. Those are real cymbals baby.

  • @dustobusto Excuse me, A Custom not "Custom A"

  • these don't sound that bad. Certainly different, but when you're a musician whose trying to do original music, different is good. And when your songs become popular OTHER PEOPLE will be trying to get your tone, and maybe these cymbals will be big when that happens.

  • these dont sound that bad tbh

  • i dont get everyones deal these cymbals sound sexyy

  • them cymals are crap

  • man i think black cymbals would be sweet

i just want them to not sound like shit

  • time to get a watch

  • These cymbals are terrible, especially for the price. The black lacquer KILLS the natural resonance of the cymbal. They are just ZBT's with black finish on them so they have that gongy cheap B8 sheet cymbal sound. There is much better out there for your money. If you want them solely because they are black and "look cool"... well then you are playing drums for the wrong reason. Get some real cymbals with your money. These are a joke.

  • i dont know dude my zbt's sound wayyy different

  • Yea i did a little research and the only difference between these and ZBT's is the lathing technique and the black coating, thus creating a different sound. Same quality metal and craftsmanship though.

  • cuz the black paint changes the sound

  • @guitardude1230 This cymbals sound fucking awesome. I know that lots of people dont like them(including you) but you cant say there terrible cos they arnt all that bad. Ive got them and they are the best cymbals ive eva had.

  • @devildrummerjack

That is cool man....to each their own. But I have played the pitch blacks aswell and personally I think they are terrible BECAUSE of the black coating. But before I said they were b8 and I was wrong, they are b12 cymbals, but still sheet stamped and coated thus making them sound so cheap. But what is important is that you found the sound YOU like so that is good. Keep playin brotha.

  • @guitardude1230 i like the hi hats and the ride becouse i like the sound no other reson the coat makes some of the sound die so thay have a fast sound and thats what i look for in hi hats and rides ..but i dislike the china alot the crashes are ok

  • @guitardude1230 stfu

these are great its the fucking china that sucks dick not the crash, ride or hi hats

  • @guitardude1230 these cymbals are better for metal drumming i used to have them but i had to move so i sold them...

  • @silverstonedwolf1 I disagree they aren't better for any drumming because they sound like shit. You are talking to a metal drummer here.

  • @guitardude1230 ummmm..... then why is your name guitar dude. and the metal im talking about is much different then METAL. i mean like hardcore drumming as in august burns red stuff like that.

  • @silverstonedwolf1 Haha because I made this account many years ago before I played drums. And genre aside, the Pitch Black cymbals are cheap, bad sounding cymbals whose only marketing ploy was being black. They barely sound like cymbals. B8s sound much better than these do. Id even say these are the worst for hardcore because there is no expression in their sound. Its important to have a nice brash, lively cymbal for any breakdown and these don't cut it.

  • @guitardude1230 thats your opinion. i think they sound different but still good. i used to have them and they stood out fine for my blast beats and breakdowns. i have used these they seem just fine for me. so how are you going to argue with someones opinion

  • @silverstonedwolf1 Haha thats fine my friend. Do what you like and I do what I like. Not arguing with you, just stating my opinion as you did too. Have a good one and always keep drumming.

  • i love how trolls wo dont have these cymbals say there shit.

  • Comment removed

  • thats what stores advertise, lol theres no difference in price either

  • retarded cymbals for posers and wannabe metal head. Fuck PBs

  • Wannabe?

  • awesome cymbals

  • uhm im lloking to buy new cymbols im leaning towrds these or the paiste pst 5 .... can someone give me their opinion

  • pst5 or stagg dh , cant go wrong

  • don'tttt get pitch blacks. they sound pitiful.

  • thanks i aprecialte the comments

  • airn't they made from the same materialas the zbt zht and zxt's but just black?

  • basically yeah. just painted

  • PITCH BLACK ARE THE BEST

  • yeah there good (i don't have them) but they are a good to other people i know

  • If those are your only options, then definitely the PST 5s.

  • pst 5

  • i am puzzled by the splash...does anyone else feel this way? its really odd sounding. it dont hv tht sound of a reg. 8'' splash...u know like when u come off the snare+HIT the splash+it kinda sounds like a quick quacking duck? these dont sound like tht. its gong-y +if u hit it lighter its like a v. weak 14''crash? anybody wanna comment? by the waY TO THT OTHER GUY try turning the china upside down+fuckin nail it. it sounds ok to me.

  • i lk em too bt they scratch easy. testers model airplane paint helps if its just a tiny scratch.

  • i like everything except the china.

  • Sound awful and it should too... They 're made with a really cheap alloy metal.

  • I have the ride and hi-hats, they sound good and 15" hats are the shit!

  • is paiste alpha better? like the joey jordison ones?

  • i think so very much

  • people who hate on these should go die in a hole, they sound so much better then people give them credit for, they are made for loud hard rock and metal, they sound fuckin sexalicous, and yes, i do own them...

  • Haha, oh man that was a good joke.

  • no joke sir...

  • hell yeah! thats right these are amazing cymbals and they dont get enough credit, i own em all and they are honestly the best to me.

  • they discontinued these already lol

  • I swear the friggin ZBT's sound better than those.

  • well the ride istn that bad

  • The sound is dull cuz of the paint maybe if u break em in they might be better but new i know they sound terrible

  • yeah, they sound alright but probably with a bit of use they'll sound better

  • I hate pitch blacks

  • It's not because there black that they suck it's because they use the same materials as ZHT's

  • I hope my 18inch crash gets better as it gets played more.

  • NICE

  • Eww, I'm so glad Sabian doesn't make a colour coated cymbal like this... and i pray they never do.

  • Ok Pitch Black cymbals Suck!!!!I would recomend dont buy them!!waist of money!!!

  • wat good does the coating make? doesnt it eventually wear off making it bad for ur kit, the cymbal itself, ur playing, and ur sticks?

  • yes, coating takes away the tone of the cymbal. the coating on these will eventually wear off and get all over your sticks and heads.

  • They're better than i thought they were...

  • no dude stay away from pitch blacks. the coating will wear away in a few months and then they will sound like tin. they are really crappy. if you are looking in that range check out paiste pst5 or meinl mb10, they will rock your world.

  • alright thanks dude

  • quackbeef:

I'm glad you mentioned the Paiste PST5s. I've been using them exclusively for a while now, and they sound great and are pretty cheap. A basic setup of these Pitch Blacks was around $500. A basic setup of the PST5s was around $350.

  • i just got the big set...22'' 18'' 16'' 13''splash...15''hats...18''china....dont be a retard. you know these are only for looking at. they dont sound gd... so just do like me+invite ur pothead retard friends over+hv $35 bag a weed ready+jack...then watch them beg to play back in black...dude...they fuckin ROCK>..

  • and by the way...paiste anything gives me a rippin headache...i knw thts like saying u fall asleep after screwing a pretty gal...bt its true when ur my age...paiste tone is squeekie high+interferes with my hearing aid. remember...jack+weed...22'' left...splash 11 o"clock...

  • Yes, Paistes have a higher pitch. To me, that makes them more versatile. Sabians are nice, but they're too dark. You can only use them in certain applications. And your hearing problems are natural. If you don't use ear plugs, your ears will be fucked forever.

  • They promoted them as great cymbals. And with a price tag like that, they had better sound good. If I wanted looks, I would paint up some cheap ass cymbals, not pay $500+.

  • I only like the ride personally...

  • no one should ever buy mid range cymbals. if ur not looking for a very specific sound, dnt go beyond beginner. spend less money, then figure out what sound u want.

  • personally i dont like them but what ever.

  • i only have da china and i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ya man i got it to its awesome!!

  • the Pitch Black Series are painting black below the cymbals too??

  • Comment removed

  • hey people :)

These cymbals are pretty fucking good i have the whole series , with out the 14 hi - hat. and it rocks.

  • i personally dont like them, but not cause they suck or anything. they are just simply zbt's..? for $500!!! just for the black coat personally i wouldnt pay the extra 200 bucks. but w/e. i have straight A customs! i love them. very very good.

  • Comment removed

  • hehe, the black coating acts like a protection to

  • no the coating wears off very quickly and get all over your sticks and drumheads. they will also begin to sound tinny.

  • Are you at Guitar Center?

  • i only really like the china i like its sound

  • what is china means in this case??

  • i dont get what your asking

  • Comment removed

  • another bad thing is the fact that they are more of an aesthetic cymbal, means that if you are gonna buy them you have to buy the whole package... or else your kit will look funny.

  • i think that the only reason zildjian made this line was to match the sabian APX line, and as far as i know they did a terrible job.

  • hahaha lets paint a zbt black and sell it to 13 year old kids who want to be brutal

  • @nickmeadrums i did that already

his mom kicked my ass cuz they later found out that i was cracked

  • saw the china at gutair center for $111!!!

  • the black shit on them comes off they are not worth the money

  • these r cool

  • they kinda suck

    a lot

  • that ride and china or not bright at all and very dry

  • Some kid at guitar center was asking his dad to buy him these cymbals because Travis Barker uses them. lol unbelievable.

  • HEY! THAT WAS ME! jk

  • i might buy the ride but other than that fuck it

  • they only sound crap because the microphone is crap they are really f*** awsome

  • BHAHAHAHAHAHA. shittest cymbals ever

  • they sound worse than the zbts...

  • is that at PAS?

  • cheap cymbals

  • no they're not

  • i heard they are horrible.

  • u heard right

  • sweat cymbals on a sweat kit, (PDP X7)

  • i have it :)

  • this makes them sound good, which they dont

  • the othe good thing about these cymbals are u wash them with mild soap not cymbal cleaner

  • the bad thing is that they sound like crap lol but i like zildjian but these suck the paint comes off after a while

  • i got the 18" china, it sounds amazing dude...

  • tomfrommyspace if u want loud cymbals check out A custom projections and Z customs

  • those

    look sic.

  • the last cymbal sounds exactly the same as a £20 Magic 20" ride that i got as a present lol!

  • i played em a few times on my friend kevins n i think theyre horrible not worth the money

  • yah the tone is awful! really dull.

  • Not the best video quality, equals not good sound.

Posting cymbal videos isn't the best idea when looking for sound.

Best advice, go check them out yourself.

I've played all of them, and I find them quite impressive.

  • actually i tried them and i didnt like em still the color is cool!

  • do you think the money is still worth it ?

  • are they really?

i was thinking aobut buying some. musicians friend has pro pack thing for about $500.

it has an 18", a "20, and 15" hi hats. and i wanted to get some input on people who have actually played them.

  • To tell you the truth I think they are.

But it's all based on user preference, music type you play, etc.

I play in an alternative/post hardcore band, and if you need the firepower to play over three guitar amps, these are considerably loud.

And I do think the pro-pack is worth it,

I own four Pitch Blacks currently and I'm greatly impressed,

the Pro Pack is the way to go if you're maybe upgrading from ZBT'S & whatnot or even adding on. Those three cymbals are absolutely incredible.

    Go for it man

  • thanks for the posting
