  • Ive seen way bigger than that when i was 4 years old there was a big ass one crawling out of my dads truck

  • That's a pretty normal sized one.

  • Theres a daddy long legs in my room and i was spraying my room with perfume because my room smelt like poo, and i saw the daddy long legs falling down the curtain

and i ran and got my hand and caught it and it was having a baby on my hand!!! I WAS GROSSED OUT! Even though! that was the first time i had seen a new baby spider!

I DIDNT REALIZE MY HAND WAS LABOR FOR A SPIDER!

  • I thoroughly enjoy having the daddy longleg spiders in my house

my house is an infestation haven for spiders these are by far the least worst spiders of all the possible ones in my area, period

they stick near the walls if they go on the ceiling at all, they stick to corners, they don't drop down on you, they don't bite you, they don't go exploring open areas at night, they aren't big and hairy

and they kill off/compete against those that are all those things

    they're protecting my house :D

  • @noobler9 same with me i have wolf spiders, brown recluse's, brown widows, black widows and the regular gaint house spiders, but the daddy long legs are my bodyguards

  • You dont need to see a fuckin video to know this spider isnt shit compared to other spiders. Its just a regular house spider!!

  • i have a pet grandpa long leg

  • @lavender365 what do they eat?

  • its a female misquito

  • sorry but that is tiny compared to the ones we have here.

  • ur a fackin retard that shiet is just normal size

    idiot

wasted 41 seconds of my life

  • @gpants1990 hes more than a retard

  • I gota say I have 1 bigger in my bathroom rofl

  • Pfft. My grandma has Longlegs that big in her house.

  • ive seen bigger spiders than that in my tent when we go camping...lol....biggest ever BS!

  • that isn't a daddy long leg. they are arachnids. but sometimes they're legs fall off. they aren't even spiders. that one has two parts of its body and daddy long legs only have one piece of they're body.

  • That's odd... I live in Michigan and the only "daddy longlegs" I know of is a HUGE mite, but it doesn't look like a mite as it has very long legs. Strange looking bugs, but they are not spiders.

  • seen way bigger we have noes that have their legs i guess 12-17 inches that is only 6-8 inches LOL

  • thosed legs are more like 2 inches not 6-8

  • ive seen bigger ones :)

  • The name daddylonglegs was given to three different creatures. Two of which are arachnids, but one is a true spider and the other an insect.

Pholcus phalangioides which is called the daddylonglegs or cellar spider does have venom but it has weak effect on humans.

The second is called the harvestman, also called daddylonglegs. It is an arachnid but not a true spider. It is neither venomous nor poisonous.

The third is called a crane fly. It has no venom.

  • Many spiders only have 2 eyes but each eye has many small ones on it. and i have seen much bigger ones in chicago.

    scared my girlfriend to deathj.

  • ya ive seen way ass bigger

  • ive seen others that could drop a fucking elk

  • i see em much larger at a lake in Arizona. i called em tank spiders

  • you should see the ones in bogalusa, louisiana. they are maby twice as big.

  • ive seen MUCH bigger

  • ive seen sum as big as a small baby

  • lol

    :D

  • same

  • There are two daddy longlegs. The daddy longlegs spider, also known as a cellar spider, and the daddy longlegs that are also known as harvestmen. The one in the video looks like a cellar spider.

Harvestmen are arachnids (8-legged arthropods) but NOT spiders. Spiders have two body parts (fused head-thorax and abdomen), two fangs, and produce silk. Harvestmen do not produce silk, have no fangs, and have one body part, not two as in spiders, nor three as in insects.

  • that thing is so small.

  • daddy longlegs arent a spider

  • then what are they?

  • they belong to the family oppilones or smth. I probably got it wrong ^^

they only belong to the arachnids, but they arent reallll spiders.

they only have 2 eyes for example

scorpions and ticks are also in the arachnids but still no spiders

  • they are an incect the arent poisiness(probly spelled that wrong)

and the only have 3 legs their front to "legs" are antenna

  • that is correct, Krazi Kittens. However I would not call a crane fly a daddy long legs. When I think of daddy long legs, I think of the harvestman. I think of the untrue spider.

  • They are arachnids. Trust me. Do u no how many books on spiders ive read???

  • whats an arachnid?

  • its a group of animals. Then u have the subdivisions. Oppilones (daddy long legs) and the scorpions and so on. Including the "real spiders"

  • ok ty :P

  • daddy long legs dont have wings, thats a crane fly

  • I've had bigger in my basement.

  • same ^^

  • I see bigger daddy longlegs everyday I walk outside.

  • Never happened till I see a video

  • I won't be making a video for 3 reasons. 1. I don't have a video camera. 2.I'm more mature than that. 3.I'mpretty sure they get bigger than the ones on my porch.

  • just found one bigger. about 5 inches wide when it spreads its legs more. ill post a video tomorrow.

  • @SauronsEye You're a fag.

  • @SauronsEye dyde there's some in virginia "presidential resort wilderness" tthat are on avg. 6 times bigger than that. no lie. the one in this video could be crapped out by the ones in virginia.

  • I have a bigger one in my room fast little guy but its butt is bigger them my finger when I get a cam I will post a video

  • Never happened till I see a video

  • @SauronsEye where do u live that is a tiny daddy long leg do u know anything about spiders? thats a baby pair to other daddy long legs and if u need to see a vid before u believe it then ur retarded

  • They get waaay bigger

  • thats not big... we have larger spieders all over our house almost every day

  • please focus on the creature, thank you

  • It was just videoed (is that a word?) with my mobile phone and I couldn't be bothered editing it.

    I lazy like that.

  • Recorded* =)

  • Right, My mistake. I don`t really study arachnids. Mostly it was an assumption, Because harvestmen lack qualities that are diagnostic in spiders and seemed to more closely resemble mites, Clearly though it would seem they lack qualities diagnostic of mites as well given the taxonomic placement your showing.

. In any case i`m glad someone is studying this. Thanks.

  • Longlegs are called Harvestmen, and there Mites technically not spiders.

  • aren't mites arachnids?

  • yeah,

  • daddy long legs is not a spider look him up

  • daddy long legs technically are not spiders = )

  • Why Not?

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.... sorry i just read that "daddy long legs with 3 foot legs comment" and couldn't help it, the largest spider in the world has only up to about an 8 inch leg span when fully extended

  • yeah daddy longlegs aren't spiders, and the goliath tarantula can reach up to a foot in length, although stull much smaller than 3 feet.

  • Tiny...

  • KILL IT! KILL IT! *runs for cover*

  • that is a tiny spider when i did plumbing i saw massive daddy long legs like four times bigger then that

  • boring when i was like 5 playing with my cousins i found a much larger dadd y long leg spider. the legs were like 2 rulers long with is 24 inches

  • No because you just changed your original statement, so it's obvious that you are totally lying.

  • Your good at interigating lol

  • Look up the longest Daddy Long Legs, no where near a metre, stop lying.

  • No, you're most likely lying.

  • daddy longlegs aint shit its da fucking abo's you gotta watch out for.

  • p.s. that was taken from a source i found on google. xx

  • 3feet long? thats a metre nearly .... >.> fail.

  • dude thats tiny

  • Most venomous of INSECTS. Not spiders. Everything else in that fact is true, though. They can't pierce your skin because it's too thick.

Don't go eating them, though. I'm pretty sure that's common sense, but yeah.

  • theryre harmless i saw them in my bathroom all the time

  • GAH i have thoe fuckers near my house...this vid is making me jittery...im an aracniophobe >.>

  • @R37nuh9 they cant harm humans and they protect u from other spiders

  • checkmetryme your wrong on mythbusters they proved that daddylong legs bite can peirce your skin but its not poisonis

  • one: this not a daddy long legs

two: i have seen one that could span a swimming pool no lie

  • That is a daddy long legs, i have one in my room. But that is quite interesting that it could span a swimming pool, but i find it hard to believe.

  • daddy long legs don't have eight legs.

  • You're right, people say that tthese things are spiders, they are not arachnids, really, they are an insect i think they have 6 legs, not too sure, maybe i should count the ones in my room

  • The name 'daddy-long-legs spider' is a bit confusing. These spiders look a bit like daddy-long-legs, i.e. the Crane-flyTipula, but these have wings. They also resemble the long-legged harvestmen of the family Phalangiidae(!) (also often called daddy-long-legs) but if you watch these closely you can see that the head, thorax and abdomen is fused. In spiders there is a clear distinction between the head/thorax region and the abdomen.

  • thats an urban legend.

  • looked like that person was hesitant.. like wtf is it gonna do.. lol.. and it's not very big at all.. That's pretty average looking to me. Sorry but you must only see small ones usually.

  • Eww, if that thing jumped into his mouth that would be disgusting but hilarious. :S

  • same i've seen bigger

  • that's not a daddy long legs

  • Is it not? From about the 4000 I've seen it looked pretty familiar.

Oh and I've seen bigger than that.

  • well then you should realize that a daddy long legs has a circular body and not a long almost oval one.

  • lol he is jumping all over

  • psh... thats nothing... you should see the ones in texas...

  • no it's not

  • gawd i've seen bigger on my bed! anyways that's a cranefly.

  • That is actually pretty big.

  • what a shit name for a bug like other bugs get names like "black widow" but this bug get the name daddy longlegs

  • Probably a shit docile name cause they're harmless to us.

  • Mythbusters proved that the venom that daddy long legs produce won't kill you.

  • i have ants bigger than tht

  • DUDE THAT IS JUST A MYTH!!!

  • gawd this is not an example of big harvestmans ive seen bigger

  • That's an old wives tale.

  • i dno wot that is but daddy long legs can fly

  • "Daddy long legs" refers to multiple species. What you're thinking of is the crane fly.

  • the cranefly is the flying daddylonglegs and the spider daddylonglegs is called a harvestman

  • In Alaska we get harvestmen even bigger than that. They grow enormous with few predators and lots of stuff to eat.

  • thats tiny compared to the ones which swarm around where i live in september and i live near Manchester!!! and OH SHIT....ITS ALMOST SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!!!!

  • Actually a "daddy long legs" refers to a Harvestman in the US. It is an arachnid but not even remotely lethal or even a spider for that matter. Over time people mistakenly called the Celler or skull spider by the same name. None of the "daddy long legs" arthropods are known to cause harm in humans, so keep on dreaming.

  • WHAT THE FUCK !

    THATS A SPIDER !

    NOT A CRANEFLY !

    nobs

  • no it's a cranefly that's why it was flying.nob.

  • sorry my mistake no it's not a cranefly.

  • I know daddy long legs help the environment by eating bugs and blah blah, but... it can't stay in my house. nope nope, got to go.

  • That's a cellar spider, not a daddy long legs.

The are commonly confused with daddy long legs because their legs are skinny.

Not only do daddy long legs not have fangs, they do not have venom either.

  • they are as big as a palm in arkansas -_-

  • Yes... They are highly venomous, the highest throughout spiders infact.

They are not able to pierce the human skin so it doesnt matter.

  • You must have missed that episode of Mythbusters. ;)

They are venomous (just like all spiders, but only for tiny things. FAR from deadly to anything as large as us. They can pierce human skin if they're big enough, but if they do it's not dangerous.

9Dane3 is right. The "most poisonous spider ever" thing is just an urban myth.

  • well... i havent seen the mythbusters episode, and i love that show, but theyre wrong on that one. NO known venomous species of harvestmen. and they dont have fangs, either, just chelicera, so they couldnt really puncture anything even if they wanted to.

  • no, melikeKH2,

Their not the most venomous spider,

THEY CAN BIT IF THEIR BIG ENOUGH

They are venomous, but only to very small bugs.

  • You most be kidding me. That's just a little one. In the Netherlands there are twice or thirth much bigger.

  • i saw some suckers like that in my tent when i caamped at letchworth

  • pfffft thats nothin i live in australia and we got some daddy long legs almost twice the size.

  • it's a tiny one... even in HOLLAND we have bigger spiders... [for yer information,, holland is in europe.. europe= not that big spiders at all!]

  • That's tiny.

  • at my old elementary school there used to be daddy long legs all around the playground. the pre-kers never went underneath it anymore.

  • Wow...When I saw that I seriously thought "That's a little daddy long leg o.o" Here in Missouri they are WAAAY bigger than that xD. Like...you have no idea unless you were here.

  • daddy long legs are highly venomous but their fang are too small to bite humans i heard is that true?

  • yes, that is true:)

  • the flying variety have strong poison but have

    no fangs that is true.

  • It's weird how a Daddy Longlegs is an entirely different creature in the UK.

I wonder how different creatures ended up with such a unique name.

  • That's a Spider.

  • Yeah, I live in Texas, and I remember them being EVERYWHERE when I went to Girl Scout camp. I hated using the latrines, because you would step inside, and the walls would be covered in daddy long legs. Harmless, cute little creatures, but a complete nuisance.

  • Same with my old school loos! In autumn it was like daddy long legs season.. they'd be EVERYWHERE.

  • Dude, move to Arizona, or anywhere in the South Western United States, the daddy long legs here are pretty massive compared to that.

  • Are you serious, Nason? I hate those ()*&*()Y^&*T things! BLAGH, this one looked pretty big to me!

  • Daddy long legs are retarded.

  • lol....

  • Oh, I see, the Grasshopper is deaf and the spider is doing sign language. Slowly guiding him through how He will be eaten. The Grasshopper obviously has no clue what is going on and would kindly like to go past the spider and go about his day. We all know that will not happen, but don't tell him because you will just make the Grasshopper feel bad and possibly commit suicide. It would also take a long time to explian that to him because he is deaf. Ahhh well, I'm sure he will be just fine now! :D

  • wtf????? lol

  • deff not big...

  • dude i've seen way bigger at camp and they were crawling around my tent everywhere

  • Mythbusters rule i watch it every day ^^

  • check out mythbusters sometime, they catch loads of daddy long legs and extract the venom and its hardly vemomous at all and one of them even gets bitten by one and it has minimal effect

  • ur right that is not a daddy long legs but i think they are actually the most venoumous spider of them all

  • that is a cellar spider. when threatened they shake in their web, and their venom is quiet potent. but there fangs are so small, they cannot peirce the human skin. there commun to find in a house, basement, or a garage. they make large tangled webs.

  • That isn't a daddy long legs.

daddy long legs have a small body the size and shape of a pea or corn cernal. Daddy long legs also have bent legs.

  • Sorry that's just not big at all.

  • holy shit thats SMALL!!!! fuckin hell man that tiny i see bigger ones every day

  • bigger ones in my garage

  • That's about average. :/

  • thats not realy big when he puts his hand next to it its like a quarter of the size of his hand

on the discovery channel last night they had this guy hunting spiders and he found a daddy long legs that was nearly as big as his hand the camera guy was funny though he dropped the camera as soon as they guy picked it up and ran off lol

  • I've got bigger in my back yard. I hate to think about it though.

  • wtf!
