To all those who were professor Edward Alvarado' fans, I have the duty to tell you that my father just passed away today 02/26/2011 at 5:30 P.M. He was in a critical medical condition, that is way we stop the show. To all those who can provide us your support, please call me: 646-479-5162. The family would appreciate it. Rest in peace my beloved father. (Luis Alvarado)
i live not country but i would never pass uom y grampa, you dam new yorkers walk to fast and onlt love youeselves, no worries gramps i lovey a i think ur great!!! screw u stingy ppl
he transformed himself as if the music was flowing out of his fingertips, what he plays now is nothing compared to what he used to. I just wish I could see him again.
I am afraid nobody or very few people really appreciated what we had among us. I can say I had the honor to have met the Professor, it has been kind of a shock to see him so old, (the last time I saw him was in the early 70's) but I am glad to see there are people out there who still appreciate good things. It is a pity though that nobody can see him playing in a grand piano, one of his famous pieces like Rachmaninoff or even Tchaikovsky,
he decided to bring "the music out" for everyone to enjoy it, so he took the symphonic orchestra to the parks. At the beginning they would only play some of the most renowned pieces and then little by little he would introduce more serious music and opera pieces as well. He was a very humble person, a great "maestro" who never forgot his roots and had a deep passion for music and for sharing it with his countrymen. As the saying goes "nobody is a preacher in its own land"
You talk about him like he's dead. LOL. I saw the guy the other day and said hi. THanks for the history, though. I had no idea. He sits down now but he's still a fighter coming back day in and day out despite his health. I have a new respect for him now that you said all that stuff. Go Professor!
I met Prof. Alvarado around the 60's when he had just arrived in Guayaquil, Ecuador after studying conducting in Moscow, at that time, The Soviet Union. There he won the Tchaikovsky price of excellence, I beleive was one of the highest in those days. As it happens in under developed countries, there were very few people who knew about classical music, I would say only the upper classes did, so that being the case that most people could not afford paying for a theater ticket
I always thought he was in the mob, and he snitched or something and now he has to pay off his debt to the boss by playing enchanting mafia tunes for the rest of his life. There's always this intimidating guy lurking around him >_>.
I saw him two weeks ago and cooperated. He can't stand now though. He is always sitting. The only person I give money whenever I see him. It makes my day.
I remember this performer from my trip to NYC during the summer of 2004.....but he had way more dancing dolls than that. Which subway station is recorded in?
The problem with New Yorkers is that a large majority of them are ignorant European people with a peasant attitude gained from ignorance and a strong familial bond to mom which enables them to live life as sheltered individuals. That is in itself a crime because New Yorkers tend to justify crimes and faulty decision making based on bing shelterd as a child. Are you from NY G702TT?
Holy crap, this guy used to direct orchestras and he's been reduced to performing circus music on the 42nd Street Subway Station....atleast the dolls look happy.
