He was setting up the car for the 90-degree corner. It's called a "scandinavian flick". Sorry to say this was on purpose, and nowhere near a crash. :)
@DarthPhotek there is no scandinavian flick here, most top drivers dont even use it anymore, because there are better driving techniques what suit long suspension better. Here he just did a small mistake and he mangaged to get it where he wanted it, easly :) Mads is good driver!
@EstRallyVideos - nope, it's a scandinavian flick. People use the snowbanks all the time in snow rallies. I'm sure you'll find plenty of videos here on Youtube of drivers doing the very same thing. He set the car up to hit the snowbank, and to "bounce" it back for a perfect slide through the next corner. It's blatantly obvious.
@DarthPhotek i know very well what scandinavian flick is because i live in a place where we planty of snowrallys. In Sca... Flick u dont use handbrake, here Mads uses it and allso in Sca... flick front tyres dont loose grip, here they loose grip, so its not a scandinavian flick. so I think Mads just missed braking point and did this awesome move to save it from spinn or getting stuck. I allso know how snowbanks can be used because i do a lot of races on icetracks in winters.
@EstRallyVideos - well of course the front tyres loses grip - it's ice and snow. But the tactic remains the same. Flick the cars butt from one side to the other in order to get a better line through the next bend. It's how people corner for those kind of bends. Don't make me look for examples to link here. :p
@DarthPhotek well, all what u say is true, but this have nothing to do with this video.
I have started driving cars at age of 8 and i know what is good line and bad line, on gravel, snow, ice or tarmac. This here is not a good line, i think he lost atleast 1 sec there. Its not scandinavian, its just a driving mistake what looks similar, amature like u can mix things up here :P Peace
@EstRallyVideos - so I'm an amateur because I see the obvious? You're the amateur if you don't know what the WRC drivers does on snow and ice. There was no mistake here, He flicked the rear from one side to the other in order to get a good line, and it is obvious. I will have to block you now to shut you up. I've got better things to do than arguing with trolls. "Peace".
