I used to watch this ad with my parents and felt nothing about it. I think, wearing a bikini is not necessarily vulgar.

In the original ad, the woman actually goes to the bathroom to have a bath and suddenly this fantasy appears where she gets under a waterfall. Remember that its a woman of the home who decides which soap to buy, and so this combi of fantasy, freedom, freshness is an appeal to her.

Aleque Padamsee says it was like shooting a movie. Very creative and decent !

Serials are the worst of all especially balaji telifilms. Atleast some regional programs are good if you live in south but the hindi ones these days are nothing like old national program. That is bcos, these Ads were telecasted from DD Delhi to audiance all over India. Even Regional Transmitters used to transmit DD National for major time. Also those time TV sets were luxury and were owned by middle class and above who were english literate working in govt jobs.

The high robe hairstyles, mini dresses, bikinis of ladies, cabaret dance, disco dance, the hippi culture etc in bollywood movies were direct influence of western. Look at the time those started in west and within few years it had come in Indian movies. Nowadays you can see rap songs, bolly ppl appearing on red carpet with west dress. Total copy no originality.
