  • alright folks ..her name is Karen Lunel , she now lives in New Zealand with her family ,happy and healthy i hope ,God bless her. Please read this article to know more about her...please google the following to find the article .... economic times koffee with karen original liril girl

  • She looks a lot like the British pop star Lolly

  • when this video was broadcast i would be scared to see it in front of parents.innocent days and now thanks to bollywood our kids follow emran hashmi gettin women naked. wish could rewind everything to 20 years back rather seen our fellow indians trying to act either Americans or europeons.lol peace guys..

  • wow! ru kidding me! a chick in a 2 piece is scandalous to this day! Infact this 85 ad somehow evaded the moral police's radar am guessing. Preity Zinta wasn't in a two piece either.

  • what is her name?

  • This add provides a quick check.

During my childhood I use to move away towards the TV during this add.... but the same is not true today .. kids stay in the drawing room when a Bikini add comes.. :-) Generation is changing

  • she died after the ad in dat falls while climbing down..

  • @jayeetroy: That is a myth, a story.

  • She is very much alive and lives in Mumbai suburbs with her hubby and son :-)

  • Wasn't even born then! :)

  • I had a crush on her when I was a child!

  • Man this is old!!!!

  • THERE MAY BE UPTEEN LIRIL LAA LA GIRLS, PREITY ,SONALI ,ANISHA ,POOJA,AND RUCHI MALHOTRA,BUT FOR ME THE FIRST LIRIL GIRL(1985)KAREN LUNEL,WHOSE VEDIO THEN IN 1980S,AND EVEN NOW ENCHANTS ME WITH ITS FRESHNESS,AND THE GIRL"S INNOCENT BUBBLY FACE,AND HER EXPRESSION DOING HER AEROBICS STANDING UNDER THE WATER FALLS.....ONE OF THE FINEST ADS OF ALYQUE PADAMSEE/THE AD GURU,I HAVE EVER SEEN....FOR WHICH HE SAYS THE IDEA HE GOT FROM WATCHING INDIAN HOUSEWIVES.

    Elpuli balki subramniam

  • @MrDgdog man she died soon after the ad :( i came to know abt this wen i went on a tour to kodaikanal

  • Kinda dumb

don't quite know what happens at 0.07-0.09. is that a subliminal message?

  • they shoot it decently..

  • its sensual nt vulgar...

  • rightly said @monkeymind09 the dress has been the same.. but the minds that look at it are getting corrupted as hell!

  • i was not even born then

  • @13rupanwita Likewise! :)

  • I was not even born then... :)

  • I used to watch this ad with my parents and felt nothing about it. I think, wearing a bikini is not necessarily vulgar.

In the original ad, the woman actually goes to the bathroom to have a bath and suddenly this fantasy appears where she gets under a waterfall. Remember that its a woman of the home who decides which soap to buy, and so this combi of fantasy, freedom, freshness is an appeal to her.

Aleque Padamsee says it was like shooting a movie. Very creative and decent !

  • @tiraandaz yes..same hia..I too was watchin this add before any serial or movie starts..I am totally agree wid whatever ur sayin...

  • boy,i was not even born when this ad was broadcast for the first time and i don't even remember seeing it later....its almost 3 am in the morning now and i don't know why i am still up and looking for these old doordarshan commercials of late 80's and 90's....

  • as a kid i never looked at it as a girl in a bikini. It was just another ad for me.But now I see it different. LOL

  • she's wearing a bikini on indian TV and it's the mid 80's. It could mean 2 things,

people were broad minded then or it was part of the golden age of porn mindset.

  • I was 4 or 5 years old back then and used to get so turned on by this!

  • BTW, i think out of all liril ads, this girl was wearing smallest bikini... wht do u think?

  • the location was:- Icy cold waterfalls near the Guna caves in Kodaikanal, Tamil nadu

    director:-alyqe padamsee

a rumor spread that karen has died due to pneumonia bcoz of this shoot :-)

formerly, she was an air-hostess with air india

  • Comment removed

  • that was 10 seconds of porn movie back then

  • @snickhill she must be a big ass slut from a town in those days.

  • The greatest ad in the history. People still love it and want to know the name of the model. Me too! 25 yrs and it still sounds great. Hats off

  • @bandhurey model's name is karen lunel.she was the 1st liril brand amsdr in india

  • I know some model died shooting for a ad as the water was very cold under a waterfall around 1980's....I am not sure if it was her or someone else.

  • laaaa la la laaaa,la la la laaa........ Damn

  • hey guys watch out .08 .09 surprise surprise

  • @oleohh1 oh man... what eye sight you've got...lol..!!

  • @jakal1591 i do don't i .lol !!!!!!!!!

  • @oleohh1

    ha ha ha ha

  • What's the name of this model?

  • Who is the girl? Anyone knows her name?

  • @karand87 Nope :(. What is her name? Anyone?

  • maybe because she is wearing a bikini near water body. Now days Bikinis are being worn in desert and stuff ( especially in Item numbers)

Hell, i dont mind it but I knw the masses do :D

  • I would do her in this day and age, I do not care about her droopy tits. I will just play this ad in the background and get on the job :)

    Whose with me??

  • girls hostel me phone aya: rekha hai kya?”

warden ne pooncha aage kya lagati hai,

jawaab aaya abhi to pata nahi pehle stayfree lagati thi.

  • Now-a-days TV serials are so stupid that a mature person cannot bear to watch even for 5 mins.Currently, its only for the kids and lunatic people who love to watch anything.

  • 0.35 funny expressions

  • hhahaha that old liril tune :)

  • Does anyone else think that today's TV is far too stressful than the 80s Dhoordarshan? No doubt its more entertaining but Life was more planned back then, Cartoons at 8AM in Sunday, evening serials and you where not flooded you had time to do other stuff and keep TV in your life. Now TV is life for a lot of people.

  • @KarthikSoun yea.. Now watching TV makes stressful.

  • @KarthikSoun TV is horrible nowadays especially those reality music programs and other copied reality stuff. No useful and educational programs these days. Serials are the worst of all especially balaji telifilms. Atleast some regional programs are good if you live in south but the hindi ones these days are nothing like old national program. I always watched hindi when it was national. Nowadays english or my regional programs.

  • this ad is older than me

  • Karen Lunel now lives in Darjeeling, India.

  • This was the one that launched all em' liril gerls... Lunel was the first.. Gr8 of ET to do a feature on her... Althou wat is liril doin with its Liril 2000 campaign?!! Its lost tht lovely lil niche it had carved out for itself...

  • the jingle was the key... Liril was always my fave !

  • 1985 hmm? I stepped on mother earth after 5 years on 1990 ! Fabulous technology ")

  • nostalgic trip to my childhood.A very glamorous add during those days.

  • @ Scotty, thank you for your comment. I guess this helped ET to bring out her interview :)

  • i still rememeber liril

once when was 12 i washed my hair with liril soap and to my wonder i got a silky hair of it lol

  • i remeber that music

  • wow didnt know Liril was so old, this was of 1985 the year i was born

  • why do all these old indian ads r in english i wonder !!

  • That is bcos, these Ads were telecasted from DD Delhi to audiance all over India. Even Regional Transmitters used to transmit DD National for major time. Also those time TV sets were luxury and were owned by middle class and above who were english literate working in govt jobs.

  • @g8india They were made for a national niche audience of DD. So it had to be made in English. Things changed later on with the advent of regional channels.

  • Liril's ad was always very glamorous...it was the costly soap among all of its time. Since they were spending much on adds, thats why the soap was so costly..LOL

  • over acting expression... in this add but wat ever those days were really awsome i wish we all cud have them back : )

  • no man she is fine, n also gave an interview to ET Brand Equity in August.

  • wow... I love the 80's

  • Good god they had hot bikini ads like this back in 1985 too.........

  • i was 3 yrs old.... !!!!

  • Good to know that. It was a great ad. That's all. We were kids back then. Those old days watching Doordarshan were great.

    Far better then todays television.

  • Sure in those days watching Doordarshan was great experience with some great ads and people were more liberal and tolerant in those days like this ads in bikinis ..lol,,

And today`s television is full of Junkies,,

(thanks god that i don`t have any tv set in my house)

  • @Bad0Boy0Speaks

    so watching on internet

  • wasnt this one d gurl who died while shooting ?

  • yes this was the BIG rumor doing the rounds those days... that the girl died while shooting. dunno if its true or not!

  • Paayal Rohatgi must have been 3 or 5 years old then..............she is not Paayal Rohatgi at al!!!!

  • She is Karen Lunel....and she is very much alive, married to a Tibetan, and has an 18 year old son...........

  • i was just born!!!

  • I think the original Liril girl was Lisa Ray!

  • Cannot be... Lisa is as old as me... and we were schoolkids when this ad used to come on doordarshan.

Come to think of it.. today is the first time I saw this ad in colour at home!

  • one of the Liril girls died in the ad...drowed; i wonder if this was the one or an earlier one?

  • I think this was the one who died.

  • This is Karen Lunel; she is alive. I think, the drowning death story is an Urban Legend.

  • Ya things were much cooler than... I was a 13....

  • wow..in those days only, she wore a bikini, Nowadays ppl r making so much fuss abt bikini...that kareena wore etc etc I think ppl were more broadminded then, than now. I think we r losing mnds day by day

  • we r more open now. But these media people don't want us to be open. makes controversy for anything..bullshit journalism

  • ban ZOOM

  • @monkeymind09

People had no other option to watch.. Now if one channels shows something.. there is dirty politics. We watch all what we show... Something is better than nothing.. Options provoke demand and demand provokes wants

  • @monkeymind09 You are right about losing minds day by day but the fashion and bollywood movies were always influenced by english movies. The high robe hairstyles, mini dresses, bikinis of ladies, cabaret dance, disco dance, the hippi culture etc in bollywood movies were direct influence of western. Look at the time those started in west and within few years it had come in Indian movies. Nowadays you can see rap songs, bolly ppl appearing on red carpet with west dress. Total copy no originality.

  • @monkeymind09 Also look at the reality TV shows. Totally copy it all started with that idiot bacchans kaun banega karorpati and from then no control at all. My god now a days serials are the worst. All the ladies are of same color with the dirty make up in star plus and with heavy sadis and jewellry even at home scenes no character at all. Ugly to watch their behavior also.

I was surprised to know that many hindi movies are also copied even my old fav bazigar.

  • @monkeymind09 Ban balaji telifilms they are destroying indian television.

  • @monkeymind09 :its not people making a fuss these days, but media making hype. Thats what they are paid for and if you dont treat them properly you will be doomed!!!!

  • @monkeymind09 :its the media you hear as 'people' and also marketing, eg kareena and her movie, so much hype for 'kurbaan' how was the movie? the more the hype the bigger the flop!! as more hype required to get people to theatre. now if my statement gets to media and few comments about it then it would look like people are saying!!

  • @monkeymind09 It is simple... People watched the ad then.... Now .... I dont have to say what people are watching :o)

  • @monkeymind09 true sayin..

  • the girl is wearin bikney nd this is old 80s add..there isn't anything cheap..now a days heroins r exposing their body in cheap way...that's the difference of todays adds nd older adds

  • @monkeymind09 Its because of so many channels, they don't have anything to feed our minds on, so they make up stories like this, and cause a big scene. Back then it was only DD1, so we had some peace of mind.

  • I WAS NOT BORN THAT TIME HAHA

  • I was 4 years old by that time...
