I was disappointed by Wrath in the beginning and I still don't think it's as inventive as their first few albums, but I've come to like it. From a drummer's perspective it's lacking some creativity, but the breakdowns and transitions throughout Wrath are fucking sick. It's a little more playable for me, so I've been rockin out to it almost daily. I can't even touch As The Palaces Burn...it catches my calves on fire.

yea man. i don't typically like breakdowns, especially with bands such as Attack Attack! (Stick Stickly...look up that song) overusing them, but LoG utilizes them in an awesome way. from a guitarist's perspective, Wrath had some more unique riffs. LoG has a tendency to write completely in harmonic minor and all modes associated, and wrath is more about feel (like in dead seeds and in your words) rather than "lemme play this scale really fast and in a badass way"

I think I puked in my mouth a little for the last 45 sec of that song. What is it with these pseudo emotional pieces thrown in the middle of heavy metal all of a sudden? Even the intro of Wrath and the beginning of Grace got me down a little. I sure as hell hope they don't venture into that too much. It's terrible and it all feels so fake/forced. Pantera nailed it best with Suicide Note Pt. 1, and I can't imagine a band with a more authentic display of emotion. Otherwise, it isn't working.

when i heard The Passing i immediately thought Metallica hahaha. i dunno though man. i think they're alright, not terrible. i've always felt that there's an emotional aspect to heavy metal though. except for thrash/death metal. that stuff is made to be raw. but int eh DVDs and stuff, Mark Morton has been described as "soulful" and probably wrote the emotional pieces. Willie's straight up metal as shit like Chris Adler and writes all the super complicated rhythmic stuff. blame Mark? and Randy too
