@kemposoefi In the description, I put the names of Tom Brechtlein (drums) and Roscoe Beck (bass). This was Robben's greatest group. I don't know why Robben doesn't hire them for more gigs/recordings.
Excellent vid, thanks for posting! Regarding the comments, I believe that the blues is perfect to make it 'your own'. By the way, who are the other band memebers? Both drummer and bass player are really great! Peace to you all, Fred.
No one plays with more soul than Robben. Snooks is (was) great, certainly more grit, but Robben has quite obviously studied this music and made it his own.
right on man. i can understand why some people who are into the more "pure" blues, this can be a little less accesible to them. ( i used to be that way.) but once you develop the taste for this, you start to see the way he is both tipping his hat to the classics, while he is bringing the music to today. too many new players get stuck in a rut, and just cop the same old licks over the same changes with same arrangements.
@weirdotis - true. I do love Robben Ford and Robert Cray's playing though - Mr Cray has certanly got the better voice, more suited to a slick style I think (don't cut me down, only an opinion!!) :o)
As you get closer the perfection, theres more to critisize. And the ones that critisism are mostly the ones being jealous.
Well played, well done.

Where's the rest of it? You can tell that Roscoe was about to get into a really bone-chilling solo right there. Is there any more, do you know?

I appreciate the Purist v. Progressive opinions on this old chestnut; I like 'em both. Remember, ya gotta grow the branches to keep the roots alive!

Brilliant - but too slick. Listen to Snooks Eaglin or Sean Costello for a more griity vibe and tons more soul...

Well, would have to disagree with you there. I do like Robben's style though, he does have a great feel..
