Cheers for this post. I remember them from back then. Went to the same school (Holyrood Secondary) as JK and CB. I was 3 years below them and the year above half of what became Altered Images and then Texas. Good times!!
great single....'dead vandals' has always been my favourite track! i had a tape of johnny and the self-abusers demos years ago but sadly the tape sound quality was atrocious! the half dozen trax were magic though and it's sad they didn't get an official release. another case of great band/1 single/no album:(
I bought the single back in 77 and still have it in perfect condition with picture sleeve if anyones interested in it....Make me an offer...All the same brill band they were.
In Italy is impossible to find those songs!!! As old fan of Simple Minds (I grew with them) where did You find those songs!!!! Great I always dreamed to hear someday a Johnny & the S. A. song!!! You're a great!!!! Thanks a lot for let me hear for the first time J. & the S. A.!!! Grazie.
i was in a punk band called the gogo frogs! we supported them in 77 in a bar called the "marsbar" they went away for about a year because they were embarressed by this song! thats when they changed their name to simple minds! i think they should be proud of this!! sound more like the velvets...
Thanks for these very early tracks from Johnny And The Self Abusers, later known as Simple Minds. I'd never hear these songs before! Thank you very much! And merry x-mas....

Have the single somewhere. Given to me by one of would be music magnates who financed it. George Langley.

Wow, this song is awesome! So punk, and so 1977! I love it! A great, gritty, early sound by SM. Jim Rocks!
