  • The Notwist is such a great band, and such a great influence, they are magnific!!!

  • im from the US and have never heard of this band, could someone tell me where they are from and if there are any good modern grunge/alternative bands from wherever these guys are from?

  • @jonas6minor6threat6 Those guys are from Germany, I just watched yesterday; in Guadalajara. They gave a great concert...Is like you were hearing Radiohead, the Residents, Franz Ferdinand and Interpol together, they play terrific!!!

  • epileptic attack, anyone?

  • I don't really get why people say the vocalist in this band sounds like Thom Yorke. Thom doesn't usually stick with small notes, he likes to extend his voice and make it apart of the beat. His lyrics become less of words, and more of a tune.

The singer in this stands to make his lyrics more evident in the song, so that you're more to likely chain your emotions to them. Both are respectively good, but also very different. That background beat is also more similar to Postal service than Radiohead.

  • i think postal service sounds like the notwist, not the other way round

  • i think i just had a seizure

  • siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii grandiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • Oh. My bad. You said "the Notwist sound like the Notwist." And I replied... "

    and Postal Service. "

  • @Corpsealanche

    Just check dates ok?

  • You can rip the audio-mp3 of this clip at greatgrabber doht cohm.

  • Such a great band.

    Notwist for life <3.

  • Germany's Radiohead! =)

  • @losemynumber Indeed! :))

  • yeh this vid is pretty cool..

  • gayyyy

  • @apocalypso420 Its not gay, you just don't have the intelligence to realize the music's beauty

  • What's the title of that movie?

    Great song btw.

  • GRACIAS THOM YORKE

  • amazing

  • what an awesome video

  • Yorke is spelled with an e. he does sounds a little like Thom, just a tad...

  • actually thom york sounds alot like rufus wainright as for notwist i can kind of see a radiohead comparison but i think the vocals are way less afeccted (as in hes not holding a dying baby in his arms on every song)

  • Sounds a lot like Tom York and Radiohead but I love the Notwist......I've been waiting for this new album since 04......love the new album!

  • @dss99001 thom yorke is from radiohead thats why it sounds so thats why he sounds like radiohead =P

  • J'aime, mon Dieu c'est foutrement beau !

  • let her construct the plane!

  • @Erkki21 it´s not about gender studies...

  • omg while i was watching this band aôn a festival i was so drunk and it was the happiest moment that i remember having on this festival.

  • oui avec sarkozy la france est plus sûre qu'avant...XD

geniale band, geniale stimme, geniales lied^^

  • Cet endrois ... l'amerique c'est dangereu. Peut etre plus que le Danemark. Un accident est si vite arrivé. Mais pas chez nous. Nous on a notre roi et seigneur Sarkozy 1er.

  • Sounds a bit like Thom York.

  • you mean Thom York sounds a little like the Notwist. ;)

  • Thats Sandra Hüller in this Video.Known from that fantastic Film "Requiem". Are that also scenes from a movie? Or is that an extra filmed video for the Notwist?

  • filmed only for the notwist

  • nice song, beautiful video

  • It's a nice melancholy song and has a really haunting tone. I gave it 5 stars.

  • You'll get my opinion whether you want it not.

  • The Notwist sound like The Notwist.

  • @byuzgen and Postal Service. Sorry... Fucking with you.

  • @Corpsealanche Received an e-mail about your response. Not sure what you mean, but my comment was a response to the guy who wrote "The Notwist are German Radiohead." Then he deleted his comment.

  • lol that mindfucked me

  • how?

i hear no resemblance to the killers

  • I just had a seizure haha

  • go away trolls, geeze... just let us enjoy the music pahleeeze!

  • Comment removed

  • When did Stuart Murdoch (Belle and Sebastian) start recording with Radiohead?

  • i know someone, whose paintings are same like the pictures in the first six seconds, but he didn´t know that before.

  • groooßartiges lied und ich mag das video sehr!!!

  • love them.

  • well its no twist. meaning, its no comparision to the far superior song/dance craze "the twist". seriously i cant even gyrate to this stuff!

  • wicked vid

  • The man in this Video.. Is that August Diehl?

  • wow the notwist are signed by domino records :O noiiice i have always loved that song called consequence and eugene mcguinness from domino :) great song!

  • I thought the video was more interesting than the song itself and the voices were very soft. Too soft to the point that I could hardly hear what they were saying. Not my favorite. 2/5.

  • get some new speakers

i can hear it perfect with my 5.1 HD surround sound headset

  • You got me thinking, how would a 5.1 headset look like?

    lol

  • that was so dope cant believe ive never heard of these guys

  • This band has such a unique way about their beats. It captures you.

  • stop this spam mail shit. this video is awesome!

  • ...glad ...german music can be awesome ...

  • i read in an interview from around kid a or ok computer where radiohead said one of the reasons they started to get into electronics is they heard the first lali puna album. (lali puna contains a member of the notwist.)

so it's all connected - it's a small world - everything influences everything else.

  • @mattak I was sure that yorke was influenced by "shrink" when I heard kid a an amnesiac. I would agree. The fragility in Archers voice stunning.

  • great sound...

  • Hi ! Dark, but rendered sweet ! That'S what The LOSJs ( London Olympic SkyJays ) think. Thanx 4 the music !

We welcome U 2 Mannheim ( 4th April ) with The Mannheim Song and Ballad !

  • wonderful music

  • como se llama esta cancion de radio head ,,,,some body knows

  • hot chip????

  • shit.. feel like a new velvet underground

  • bea

    utiful i love it.

  • stop tearing my soul appart. the soundtrack of my life. the twist is not ~!)

  • great song, so melancolic but so true, especially when we wonder what to do.

  • the video was made by some guys that studied in weimar, guess where i'm hanging around ;D

  • this song is glorious

  • i recommend harting the notwist its good for you

  • whoa

  • AUGUSTUS DIEHL!!!!i love this guy, he is the coolest german actor! you guys check the movie "23"

  • "(Was Nützt die) Liebe in Gedanken" aka"Love in Thoughts" is even better, and so is August in it! I went and watched this vid for August and as I've already said, he's genious even in a 4' vid... especially that part where he's alone at night in the bed, watching that thing wheeling, rolling you know and then drawing it... Even the girl's with him, on his side, you get such a sense of loneliness, it's incredibly well acted. HS but cant wait to see him in Inglorious Basterds!

  • oh augustus in Inglorious Basterds? i might become a tarantino fan after all!

  • great song:-)

  • oh so very underworld!! I like though...soooo tomato!

  • i agree, gorgeous poo!

not as good as neon golden stuff tho

  • haha

  • beautiful dung

  • i hope that was a typo!

  • now what I want to see is a small indoor gig featuring the notwist to start with, followed by Thom Yorke who goes on to do some of his own stuff - and then is joined by radiohead for some of their stuff and then they all get together and do some completely new stuff at the end....or am I just asking too much!!!

  • yeah im with you first thing i thought when i heard this was "how radioheady". its good though

  • "how radioheady"

radiohead ripped off and reffered to lali puna when they came out with kid a. marcus archer of lali puna is in the notwist. ergo it would be more appropriate to go to a radiohead video and say "how notwisty"

  • Radiohead isn't bad. They're good. You're bad.

  • I gave your comment a thumbs down but i feel a bit bad...even though the general population thinks that radiohead is good, you ARE titled to your own opinion and its not like you bashed radiohead...so sorry

    i respect your opinion.

  • thats dumb.

if someone recognizes a band as an influence in their music, it wouldn't make sense to say that another band that one of the members is in was also an influence. they could be two totally different sounds.

  • Jesus fuck, I hate YouTube comments. Kid A (along with Amnesiac) was influenced by tons of electronic music - old Autechre especially - as well as Can and Charles Mingus and Brian Eno. Breaking news: bands have influences! You can even like two bands at the same time! You don't even have to say that one PWNS the other.

  • WINNER!

  • @misterbizzones finally someone speaking sense (I know it's an old comment, but well done sir)

  • @misterbizzones Exatcly

  • sorry if this gets double posted.

it would be more appropriate to go to a radiohead video and say "how notwisty". check yer facts.

  • come on man. quit hatin on the newbs.

  • ok, for one thing, im just agreeing with the guy who said it was like thom yorke and you bring up a good point but how am i supposed to "check my facts" on a band that i'd never heard of.

  • fair enough. sorry i was just being cranky. i could have said it better.

  • oooh august diehl!!!i love this man!!

great music great band great actor

  • this is incredible

  • dammit it sounded so goood thennn it turnedd germann

    Still sounded really goood

    Grrrr i wann englishh!

  • I really like this... but does anyone else here hear Moby in this? The two voices sound so similar.

  • just wonderful...

  • Chh I love these guys :] Who cares if they are German, haha. :p

  • I still dont get it - german band sings in English - its quite sureal, being from northern denmark were all turist speaks german and dont have a clue 'bout the language of english - but great great band though..

  • i don´t get this - please help me: Why shouldn´t german people be able to sing or speak in english? it´s a world language - but ok: older people perhaps didn´t learn it at school. Try to forgive them!

  • Because the - like frenchmen - resists to learn/speak english.. The germans after synchronize all movies into german ;) I forgive them though, as already written in past comment

  • wow, you are the best example for retard youtube persons who building their statements on shitty cliches without dubing any real arguments .

    what a pitty.

greetz from the (english-speaking,anti-nazi non-leather-trousers-wearer)-country germany

  • do you really think you watch movies in english because you're so smart?

it's just not worth it to do the danish dubbing...

but anyway, i think it's quite ok not to speak english!

  • pretty awesome.

    actually, more than that.

    quite amazing.

i am in love with this video.

if you bought the cd before watching this like i did, it gives you a really different perspective on the song, and possibly the entire album.

    impressive.

  • giovanni ribisi ;)

  • The ending is just like (well, not so much) the ending of "Heaven" movie, with Cate Blanchet and Giovanni Ribicci (i think their names are these...)

  • it's like scrapheap challenge, but that's a milktops programme. bit too clever for me this one. Keep it simple

  • *Thom...arg name typo.

  • what a sad loser u are. and go back to school moron, learn to spell.

  • loved it..

  • @DR:

    it's august. yes... :)

  • Is that German actor August Diehl? I swear to god it is...

  • glaub schon

aber neon golden können sie eh nicht toppen ;D

  • yes, it's him

  • thomz voice is more awesomeeeeeee

  • the real man chupa capitan corneto

  • video like 'arizona dream'

  • yep, exactly what I said first time I saw it (on another upload I guess)

  • best vid i've seen in a while

  • kid A

  • Very mellow song with a good vid. I like it! Check out my notwist covers if you get a minute.

  • Cant you read? Notwist came out with SHRINK in 1998. By the way, Great Video and song

  • Notwist exist since 1990. the self-titled album sounds great even today, but its more hardcore.

i once saw one great concert of them in 1995 when the fantastic "12" Album came out... that was in Vienna then...yeah!

  • :| I love it.

  • great!

  • sheer brilliance..The Notwist always delivers the goods..

  • bought the album yesterday. it's brilliant. a great follower to "neon golden".

  • please tell me your are takin the micky? sorry chaps but im doin a music tech course at the moment n youve done that with reason n cubase etc? lol. sorry for seeming nasty, im really not, but come on. who you tryin to fool?

  • that song is feel like a heart beating sound in a cool breeze. just think.

  • leaves a sad feeling

  • different but gud

  • Um. Hello. Does anybody hear Thom Yorke or Radiohead?

  • Have you heard The Notwist before?

  • No. I just randomly came across the video. Sorry if I seem to jump to conclusions. But that's the sound I heard in this song.

  • totally!

  • The sound that Radiohead got famous for is a sound that Notwist predated them by at least 2 or 3 years.

  • Kinda makes you wonder why everyone found rock going electronic so controversial.

  • Actually, Radiohead's first "electronic" album was made between 1998-2000, and was released in 2000. The Notwist's came out in 2002. How does that predate them?

  • SHRINK was released in 1998...

  • fuck radiohead.corporate crap.

  • lol...... suuuuuuuuuuuuure they are. Keep sayin it and maybe it'll become true.

  • i do believe that radiohead removed the corporate crap when they cancelled their contract with their label and started their own...so fuck you

  • fine ,they are underground now.you win.

  • this isn't radiohead. radiohead is much worse. go watch their new video if you want crappy. notwist is alright.

  • bullshit. both radiohead and notwist are some of the greatest bands ever, their music is wonderful.

  • notwist are indy radiohead capitalists....

  • sounds more Hood than radiohead... either way it's good stuff... better than anything barry manilo ever did

  • i've never and listened to Notwist until now (i liked this song) and when i first heard the vocals, they did remind me of Tom Yorke..

  • hmm tacky

  • thanx for posting that answer before me. you took the words out of my mouth.
