They never explained how he healed. Most likely since he had to climb and retrieve them (4 miles up a mountain), he placed the legs onto his torso. He heals, he cant regenerate apendages/parts like Victor Creed.
Okay so, Showtime437, since wolverine can grow his legs back. Isn't it true that if Logan sustained enough damage his old wounds would reopen and force him to heal again? He had to go get his legs, otherwise, no adamantium and they'd fall off if he had sustaind death dealing damage again.

No his bones are adamantium laced, meaning they are covered or imbued with it. But that doesn't mean his joints are, or his vertebrae.
If his joints and cartilage was made out of metal he wouldn't be able to move, he'd be rigid.
So it makes total sense that it's possible.
Also the reason why he can dislocate his shoulder, and why Gambit could pop his knee out in the ultimate x-men comics.
