I don't know which frightens me more, the Bible thumpers or the Bible bashers.
However, the concept of the dignity of the individual, the fountain head of the concept of fundamental human rights, comes from Judeo-Christian doctrine.
Atheistic doctrines, such as Marxism Leninism, accept the notion of "surplus population." This is substantiated by Soviet and Chinese communist history.
Now, which of these two philosophies poses the greater danger? Hummm?
@Sigolet The Judeo-Christian doctrine is hardly a or the fountain head of fundamental human rights. The endorsement of slavery, bigotry, misogyny, etc. by these texts are in direct conflict of equality and civil rights. The U.S. was set up as a secular system, and is mutually exclusive from any particular religious doctrine. The spread of misinformation, and outright lies regarding the foundation of the U.S. gov't is the real problem. Equating Marxism to atheism is also willfully misleading.
Your grasping at straws young fellow. I have no more time for you. Too much juvenile schoolyard name calling. Better get the homework done before mommy comes home. lol
Hey babyou ,don't talk so silly. Most americans are Christian. Almost every funeral in America is a religious funeral. Most are christian. The laws are based on the ten Commandments. In God we trust is on the money. One nation under God. This is what made America a place where more people escaped poverty that any other nation that ever existed. The constitution is set up to stop Government from setting up one state church and outlawing all others. IE England,France Italy, Sweden, etc etc etc.
"Most americans are Christian." Does this mean all Americans are Christians? Were you born stupid or have you had to work at it real hard? "laws are based on the ten Commandments" Even IRS code? "One nation under God." A line that was ADDED to the Pledge of Allegiance in the 1920s that was not in the original. By the way, the Pledge of Allegiance was written by a SOCIALIST. Remember that the next time you recite it at one of your Christian fascist gatherings.
@bapyou Actually in the 1950s, not 20s, in response to Communist USSR, on the grounds that a Communist would not be able to say it (quite mistakenly, of course).
You are a stupid boy. Extremely brainwashed. History has been changed by the liberals for the past how many years. The textbooks are being corrected. The founding fathers were religious.
"History has been changed by the liberals." OK, conservative moron, tell us how "liberals" have "changed" history. America was NEVER a Christian country; America is blind to religion. Many groups immigrated from Europe to America BECAUSE they were persecuted in Europe due to their religion. Why don't you know this you uneducated hick? For this reason, THE CONSTITUTION of the UNTIED STATES SPECIFICALLY prohibits the establishment of a STATE RELIGION. Don't you get it, you fascist?
And further, public schools don't teach history, nor math nor science nor anything. This is especially true in Texas. This change in curriculum isn't going to impact anything. The many who don't want an education won't get one, and the few who do will get it themselves. (Kind of like what I've seen happening for years in America...)
Jefferson is only getting removed from the WORLD history curriculum. I can assure you that they will be regaled with glorious tales of Thomas Jefferson in American history class. Which, by the way, has always been filled with propaganda and mythology.
We evolve, we learn, people at some point do realize what is going on. Many will be comfortable living the legacy of their parents, others will not want anything to do with their heritage, specially with the system of believes. it is a matter of time. Some are brainwashed, but I do believe that at the end, spiritual , human ( Godly ) evolution will take its course. People are able to see errs in religious systems, but yeah, the ones who are ignorant will impose on others, we can not be like them
@AdautoMedeiros we have to show that we ar above the negativity and the pressure. You will do a good job, maybe fighting for the right that they have to be like that, but to never impose that on you, and you and them and all of us can live in Harmony. We have to fight for equality and not forget that even tho their opinion is hot homogeneous, they are still the majority and we have to try to find a balance, being different from them, but respecting them. That way we can reach equality.
But this is just another step to making it harder and harder to not be brainwashed, and to find trusted sources of information. It's something we have to stop.
I am sure that the parents that don't want to raise their kids Christians would not send them to schools that teach Christianity. There's Home Schooling, there are other options, there Public Schools. What is happening in Texas is a situation that people can protest by not sending their kids to schools that do so. There are options, but most parents in America are ok with that. Your opinion's being voiced and respected, but what I am saying is, anyone can choose to be under that or not.
I see what you say, but one thing we have to conform, it is their parents that want that way. Kids will have a chance later in life to choose what to believe, while they are under their parents' care, it s what it is. The United States actually is a very free country when it comes to what one wants to believe. Here we can accept any kind of faith or reject. If you get all the Catholics and Protestants altogether we have some 200 million Americans. More than 100 million Americans don't claim...
@AdautoMedeiros they don't claim the christian Faith. I understand, as I was raised in the Christian faith, what Catholic or Protestant Parents want to do to their kids, this is what they believe and whether we agree or not, we have to respect. Anyway, most americans when they reach Collge age they reject for a phase or for good their parents' faith. It is a matter of time and choices...at the end everybody can choose. I did choose not to believe as my parents anymore and I am thankful for a .
@AdautoMedeiros I am thankful for all te love and their pure, innocent ( what they know ) intentions. I don't live my life as they wish I did, but today they understand me more and accept me more. There's nothing that we can do if most parents are ok with their kids education being handled that way. What we can do is enjoying the freedom we have and at the due time sharing our opinions, NOT IMPOSING them on anyone, but letting them know what we think. This way everybody's rights are respected.
I'm a theist, but I do actually agree with what you say. I don't want school textbooks altered to fit in with any ideology. Here in England 'faith schools' are multiplying, encouraged by the government as part of its support for 'multiculturalism' so it looks as if we're going along a similar road to Texas, albeit for different reasons.
You go to a Catholic school? Ouch... I'm quite the online type person and I have a lot of friends in Texas most of them didn't know about this I told them most of them being in Sugarlane
