Martha was wonderful. She has the distinction of being the first non-classical singer to perform in Carnegie Hall doesn't she, when she did it with Benny Goodman in what 1936 or 1938 or so? I love this music. I just got the double CD "Liltin' Martha Tilton". I hihly recommend it to anyone who is a fan.
What a swingin' performance. Her voice truely is lilting! Thanks for posting; more people will know her and how talented she really was. She deserves the exposure to a new generation.
I'd never heard of this lady before recently and now I cna't get nough of her. Thanks for posting these 'soundies' I love them Specially 'A Little Jive Is Good For You'
Wow, I just don't picture skirts like that in 1941! It's great we have video like this! She was a great singer and seems like a sweet girl. My best to her family.
Actually, the best version is by Martha and her 1936 RCA Victor record with the Goodman Orchestra. Not so fast as this but it swings with a better lilt and orchestration.
I know one thing for sure - it's a shame this is not the version she (the same Martha Tilton) did with Benny Goodman Orchestra (eh, a much better band) back in 1938 - that was the definitive version for Ms. Tilton, for sure. Also, not done too shabbily by Maxine Sullivan, who also had a hit with it.
Best female singer ever.

Boy, I'm with you on that ... just pure magical ..
I wish there were more (than the few there are) Martha Tilton clips on YT ...
I also wish someone could post anything with Helen Ward ... another of Benny Goodman's great lady vocalists. But I haven't found any.

She does a good job. The best version, by far, is done by a little girl on the Follies of 1938 episode of Our Gang. She's amazing!
