I had layover in DTW coming from Los Angeles. I was astonished at the terminal. The light tunnel was really neat, the tram was kinda cool, and that weird fountain was equally as awesome.
That tunnel is cool, but the real sense of satisfaction comes from the fact that you are about to get on a turbine aircraft to fly away from detroit at hundreds of miles per hour.
I missed a flight trying to get this same video, but lost the file. This is a much better job than my attempt could have ever been.
Long story short, got a free direct flight upgrade (overbookings had my seat taken to a less desirable location) + 24$ in terminal cash to booze up for the easy ride back to see my new love.
3 years later = great lover, one baby(!), great job, great home, awesome city (not Detroit, sorry..)

just went through this tunnel a couple of weeks ago. was late for a connecting flight and going as fast as i could on the moving sidewalk. i guess with all the strobing lights, colors and movement, i lost my bearings and FELL flat as i stepped off the moving sidewalk. surely i can't be the first one to fall in that thing!

Most cities I visit I just go to the airport, if I could I would live at the airport , the way the economy I just may have to, Detroit looks like a good option , music new restaurants and security, better than the ghetto..

I had heard about this ambience experience before, i just thought it was seasonal, and did not happen to often... great video though.

our flight gate kept changing so we went through it 10 times in one day. the first time (ever) we were like AWESOME!!! the second time we were still thinking it was cool and then on we were running through it like NO!!!
It was for me. I only had a 25 minute window between my flights, (it was supposed to be an hour window, but stupid late flights...) I had to run from Gate A76 to Gate C36. Took me a good 20 minutes to RUN from one gate to another. However, I have to say the tunnel was awesome.
O'Hare is a POS airport that is old and overcrowded. There is nothing great about it unless you have a thing for narrow concourses and sitting on the floor at your gate due to lack of chairs. People in here were saying that O'Hare has a "better" tunnel than this; so I youtubed it. All I got to say to you all is: "Quit lying to yourself". Those stupid lights on the ceiling are nothing compared to this.

i'd say british airports are probably the worst for narrowness for wide luggage. England in general seem full of stupid people who think you are invisible and dont move out of the way. This seems very noticable in the uk. ALot of british people don't seem very nice

I've been through O'Hare and Detroit and Detroit is just a crappy rip off of O'Hare. The place is a pain in the ass to navigate and you can tell that it was built with a bloated budget or overspending contractor looking to complicate things to get more work.
there should be a sign at the entrance saying, warning do not enter if you suffer from seizures, migranes, or if you are a hippie (warning hippies may think they are high if they enter the walkway, you could be high or not, we dont care jus dont blame us when your hgihness doesnt stop)

The Detroit Airport is the nicest in the world. It'll be the newest in the US after the North Terminal is complete. I love DTW.

The entire airport is very nice...the monorail/train through the terminal is a great idea.
But oh my God the McDonald's I ate at in the airport was PACKED.

O'Hare is a POS airport that is old and overcrowded. There is nothing great about it unless you have a thing for narrow concourses and sitting on the floor at your gate due to lack of chairs. People in here were saying that O'Hare has a "better" tunnel than this; so I youtubed it. All I got to say to you all is: "Quit lying to yourself". Those stupid lights on the ceiling are nothing compared to this.

i went thru o hre a logn time ago, enjoyed the advanced stuff....restraunts..playground...i didnt see the light tunnel, th :(''' but, i saw this one, and WOW......THo, ppl tell me that some futuristic irport, charles de gaulle, is the coolest, with the exception of a tunnel like this... i went thru this tunnel, and wow.... to think, that they could do this, and that the tec his being improved...soon, we won't just walk thru a jungle tube, it WILL b a jungle, Artic , city, ETC

What a great way to spend the tax payers subsidy for air travel. Drove on any Detroit roads lately? Any luck with the sold out Detroit Amtrak trains??

I really like the airport in Detroit. The couple times I went there I never had a chance to see the city, though.

i'd say british airports are probably the worst for narrowness for wide luggage. England in general seem full of stupid people who think you are invisible and dont move out of the way. This seems very noticable in the uk. ALot of british people don't seem very nice

Don't hate. The city is doing a lot to change its image. A lot of it might still be a ghetto, but don't denigrate a great city like Detroit.

I've been through this tunnel a few times and it's a really cool experience. If you're ever in this airport and you have time, make sure to check it out.

where is this tunnel? I know its in Detroit airport but what terminals does it connect? In flying through here in Apirl in Going Boston-Detroit-Tokyo. Do you think I will have to go through this tunnel? I hope.

navymmw, the tunnel connects concourses B/C to A of the McNamara Terminal. ;)

i go to lebanon every year and i live in dearborn so i have been into this airport many of times the tunnal is that a big deal i think it blows

really? I disagree I love Detroit's airport and think this light tunnel is much more impressive and modern.

Yeah it looks modern, but its design is extremely poor with long separated narrow walk ways making it extremely difficult to traverse.

I've been through O'Hare and Detroit and Detroit is just a crappy rip off of O'Hare. The place is a pain in the ass to navigate and you can tell that it was built with a bloated budget or overspending contractor looking to complicate things to get more work.

there should be a sign at the entrance saying, warning do not enter if you suffer from seizures, migranes, or if you are a hippie (warning hippies may think they are high if they enter the walkway, you could be high or not, we dont care jus dont blame us when your hgihness doesnt stop)
