Wrestling, Judo, Jujitsu, BJJ and all other ground/grappling should just unite because learning any one of these styles can increase your chance of survival on the ground. I just wish that there were two UFCs. One that lets you grapple and the other is all about flashy standing moves.
@GreenSpirit3 Two UFCs? That wouldn't make sense. There are two separate sports that represent those two styles of fighting. If you want pure grappling then watch Submission Grappling, like Abu Dhabi or NAGA tournaments. Or if you want to watch flashy and technical standup watch K-1 or other kickboxing videos. But both make the great sport of MMA together.
I do brazilian Jujitsu, and wrestling is awesome! There's kind of a battle going on between Jujitsu and wrestling which is better? BOTH are better. I have never been official trained in wrestling, but I've applied some techniques I learned here on youtube to my Jujitsu, I used the cradel on someone in Jujitsu to gain a better position, it was effective! Wrestling has much to offer, I WISH I had wrestled in High school now. I like it, it's not just brute force like I thought, it's nice.
@ChamorruWarrior Well look at GSP. Never wrestled in High School or College and hes considered one of the best wrestlers in his weight class. He loves wrestling and trains with the Canadian wrestling team. His single and double is amazing and he use his wrestling for control effectively. Im a black belt in Judo and drill the single, double, half, quarter, and 3-4 nelson...bodylock, armdrag, and hand fighting...and thats all you really need.from wrestling.Everything is hybrid anyway at this point
Thanks for making this video, I am in my schools wrestleling team and I have missed a lot of things since I cant go to the whole practice, now I can see things I have missed
@thebthull lol not necessarily. have you ever known what its like to be underneath the dominant pressure of a wrestler and having their shoulder or elbow driven straight down into your face? not fun. wrestling is an essential tool to any mma gameplan. no one knew chuck liddel was a wrestler in college for a while but you could tell when he rarely got taken down. a wrestler can put the fight where he wants it. if he wants to stand he wont go down, and vice versa
i do mma now and i didn't wrestle in high school, and to anyone who wants to do mma and is in high school DO WRESTLING WHILE YOU STILL CAN! IT IS THE BEST PART OF MMA AND IT WILL MAKE YOU A TANK WHEN YOU GO TO SPAR OR GRAPPLE WITH BJJ GUYS! WRESTLING IS THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL PART OF MMA IT WILL ALWAYS COME IN HANDY AND MAKE YOU MORE LIKELY TO COME OUT ON TOP (NO PUN INTENDED)
@MoPPsychotik im from uk wrestling not 2 good here but im good for some one in uk i find wrestling to be gr8 do wrestling then add judo then add jiujitsu that is the best way to go im a striker im more boxing mauy that some karate and teakwondo and 2ba i think ground game is much better my girlfirend is sick at jiujitsu and judo and good wrestling she schools me all the time lol
@eljaytomas123 No, if you do tkd chances are you'll try to axe or tornado kick them right before they o goshi you straight into the ground. The only people that can hope to defend against a wrestler's takedowns are 1.) judokas or 2.) another wrestler. No exceptions.
@TribalStudios1 not realy depends how hard and how high u got crushed into the mat but im just sayin u really want to be the guy with the first takedown because if you dont usaully u lose unless u meant for him to cause ur a good defensive wrestler
@DontMessWithTexas12 Yea man, im looking into clubs. I'll probably end up waiting for the summer when i head to university to find a place to compete.
Hey, im 17, 135lbs, 5'10, and i'm thinking about getting in to wrestling. Ive been playing football and rugby for a few years, and have no problem competing with guys much heavier than me. Do i still have a chance at competing in wrestling at this age?
@bjapan96 When u go for the take down keep ur back straight i.e don't bull rush. Once you take the leg or get close to the body plant your head in the mid section or leg to use it to push to the side you're going.
Keep everything tight and close and you they won't be able to get an arm in to guillotine you. Good luck.
@bjapan96 Just remembered another way, instead of following with an outside foot like the video at 0:45, wrap it around the other guy's lead leg and keep going forward basically tripping him onto his back, from there go to side control and work your game.
@baconat3r dude i bet ur a bitch in person and cant fight for shit. yea their are some wannabes for attention BUT not in my case. been training for 6 years and aint stoppin anytime soon.

Wrestling takedowns work in MMA, they must be modified to avoid knees, but wrestling takedowns work. Pretty much everything from anything must be modified because there's all this new stuff to deal with. Like Muaythai, in MMA you probably will need to change your distance to avoid takedowns and boxing, distance and stance change to avoid kicks etc. Wrestling is a great sport, and will help you alot in a fight. im thinking of wrestling this year in highschool ill be a freshman and have never wrestled before. im 95lbs and 5 foot so other sports got tougher as everyone else got bigger haha. all of my uncles wrestled and i have a friend who is 110 and we wrestle eachother and i always pin him. i just need advice and what should i expect? please help
o ur good then, junior and senior lightweights are pretty rare, just get ur ass in technique, lift a bit, and be way more aggressive and u'll do fine, chances are ur gonna go up against other inexperienced kids
ha, they dont even have a 95 weight class at my school, im a freshman too, im 121, im gonna try and get to 115 or maybe even 110, but after practice and what not, you and a friend take what you learned from the coach and practice it on each other, thats how i got the moves right
yea ill be in the 96 lbs weight class im doing p90x right now and am going to start rrunning more for endurance and start learning th eropes from a friend of mine's dad. (not the one i wrestled a different kid)
I already know all of this but its good to refresh your memory

o ur good then, junior and senior lightweights are pretty rare, just get ur ass in technique, lift a bit, and be way more aggressive and u'll do fine, chances are ur gonna go up against other inexperienced kids

ha, they dont even have a 95 weight class at my school, im a freshman too, im 121, im gonna try and get to 115 or maybe even 110, but after practice and what not, you and a friend take what you learned from the coach and practice it on each other, thats how i got the moves right
