I'm 13, and my friends always find me weird for liking this kind of music. They're all over pop and such, and don't get me wrong, I have nothing against pop, listen to it occasionally, but I really just enjoy 70s - 80s music a lot more. Especially Pat, she's one of my favorites. :) Makes me kind of wish I was born back then, y'know? So I was able to grow up in such a seemingly awesome time period. Not just for music, but all around! :D
This song would do well in an anime or in an action movie. Legend of Billie Jean just didn't do this song credit in my opinion. Pat Benatar is a superb artist.
@op10004 I dont aggree that people today dont appreciate the classics.I started an artist support effort on youtube a few months back an although its centered around newer current rock & metal, its the oldschool stuff that gets the most attention. All the 80s playlists there: Ballads, Classics, Fem Rock/metal Origins, MTV, and Video 1 &2 are all the rage with the college and HS crowd and I was amazed at that. Its also amazing the so many older folks are getting into NIGHTWISH and similar bands.
no wonder so many guys had a crush on her back then. Not only was she GORGEOUS...she also had a beautiful voice. Talent, beauty, brains....no wonder MTV doesn't show her videos anymore. They'd (her videos) be put up against what they are showing and let everyone know they're showing crap now.
I miss the days when you'd hear songs like this playing at the beach on people's radios or people's car radios driving by in the summer. Music now just doesn't have that buzzy, great feeling to me. Can't stand all that dance/hiphop/r&b shit. Bring back POP ROCK!!
She's pregnant here. Her record label were fucking assholes; didn't want her to even SPEAK about her pregnancy; let no one take photos of her pregnant. That's why she had to wear that get up to cover up her pregnancy. I'm just glad she didn't lose her baby with all of the bullshit the pricks as Chrysalis Records put her through. Made her perform when she was sick; non stop, while touring pressuring her to cut another record...BUT SHE'S FUCKING TOURING ASSHOLES! All in her Memoir.
Read Pat Benatar's Memoir: Between A Heart And A Rock Place. She tells about her mom calling her on 9/11 to turn on the tv. She saw the planes hitting; and she is from and had family living a couple of miles from the WTC. She didn't want to perform. She wanted to cancel the show; the agent was pissed threatening to sue; she was like how can we perform when our nation is being attacked. The promoter called her and said ppl were calling in; wanting to still go to the show cause they needed to be
@ivegottaheadache (cont'd) with other Americans. She said she just began to pray. "God how can I go on; what can I do what can I say, I am shaking inside"...etc. She said well, "the terrorists can kiss my ass and kiss all of our asses!; She did the show; people were carrying the American Flag. She opened up with THIS SONG "INVINCIBLE"; she was crying, the crowd was crying, she sang, prayed, and talked w/the crowd. It was a shared experience.
@ivegottaheadache Read my earlier comment (few months); it would relate to that old 80's (God Bless Reagan) show "Supercarrier". Though it was cheesier than say, Top Gun, I seem to remember this song on the soundtrack. A plane (with a cute blond lady fighter pilot) had been shot down, and this song seems to correlate with that scene when the F14's were being scrambled to look for her.
Never mind the haters!!! Without a shadow of a doubt she has the perfect blend of grit and beauty in her voice. That voice is invincible.I have nothing but respect for Janis, but anyone can see that there is no comparison skill-wise.
Gee, 12 woman hating assholes. They must hate thier mothers.Pat is one of the coolest rock diva gals of all time.Thats saying alot. You guys probably dont know about the likes of: Tarja Tarunen, Annette Olzon,Simone Simons, Charlotte Wessels,or Liv Kristin. They're the new divas, and good too. If you like fem rockers, YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT MY FEM ROCK/METAL PLAYLIST SERIES. 4 Parts, 70 artists, 4 decades, and almost 400 videos.Lots of great Benatar stuff in that!
Last I remember this song was from the series "Supercarrier" (used to be on ABC I think). Though the series was essentially a small screen version of Top Gun, I loved it. I wanted to be a fighter pilot back then...Anyway this scene was when one of the F14's were getting scrambled because a maritime patrol (P-3) plane had gone down..If anyone else remembers this series message me!
@jonbodin I assume you mean for women rockers, since she didn't pave the way for rock in general. Even then, Heart paved the way for all female rockers (besides Janis, who I don't really take seriously), and Heart isn't in the hall of fame either. Neither is Moody Blues, Journey, Supertramp, Yes, any other prog rock band (includng Rush), and quite a few others. The hall of fame is a joke. They must be sponsored by MTV.
@GAThrawnIGF - Opinion only. Heart helped paved the way as did Benatar. Janis was more Blues, but she was the first female to pave the wave for future female rockers. Only my opinion, but to me, it's the only one that matters!
awesome.i grew up on this, cause my mom is an 80's chick,so i just love this.^-^ if only musicians these days could be this good...they just don't make 'em like this anymore.
I grew up with this and I still love it very much, not many people my age drive around with this playing cranked up in their truck lol, Go ahead and make fun, I also just downloaded tarzan boy lol. May no-1 ever forgt your ROOTS.
Way back in 85' when I as a kid I always knew this songs lyrics had a lot of meaning but it was hard to really "feel" that meaning. I just put the song in the context of it's either about events of the long gone past or far away future. Turns out that 'future' wasn't too far away after all. EVERY WORD OF THIS SONG HAS DEEP MEANING FOR EVERYTHING THAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW.
If DC Comics would go ahead with a animated Crisis On Infinite Earths movie(I'd sit thru' 2-1/2 hrs of quality action packed story-telling!), THIS SONG would be perfect for the 'final battle' (before Spector show-up) between Earth's Heroes and the Anti-Monitor!
To me, Pat Benatar and Shania Twain are the all-time sexist women of music, period! Pat has that come-and-get-me face and that powerful voice. Shania has every beautiful quality that any woman could have and the grind-me spunk. I love these women!
I might be a youth of the 90's and early 20's. Stuck hearing the main stream shit with no emotion or meaning. I listen to this because this does have real feeling and its a kick ass song that is better than any crap they have now.

@FairyFlawCT Yeah, pretty soon they'll just hook up a helium tank to a machine, grab a hooker off the street for the video, and voila! instant hit. Pop tarts produced by the thousands.

Pat Benetar seems to be surrounded by her own kind of unearthly light wherever she is. I mean it, Darkness can't touch her.
Drop her in the middle of the Gulf oil spill and leave her there for several hours and when the robotic camera swims in there to find her surrounded by a heavenly glow, pure white skin and a leather trench coat singing like an angel.
I saw Pat last night in my home town of good old Boston last night along with REO.What a night to see 2 great groups under the stars in one great city.Pat was awsome and she put on one great show and she now has long hair.God Bless Pat Benator and keep rocking r
Cool! Helen and Christian Slater. I loved that movie and actually still have it. yet another great movie from the 80's and I not only loved this song but the DiVynals and Billy Idols songs that were also in this film. I had to hunt them all down. ;)
@jmwingding this is one of my pat benatar favorites. been since i was in jr. high school, back in the early 1980's. glad you remebered after a while though.
her husbands guitar playing (neil giraldo) is what got me into listening to her... they come to Long Island every year and put on a show at an ampitheater thats practically in my back yard, my house is on a hill overlooking the ampitheater, so needless to say i see all the summers line up from my pool, we have friends over, BBQ and watch all the free concerts!!...lol.. she still sounds great and he still knows how to play that guitar!
We just saw Pat live three weeks ago. She is and always will be beautiful and simply amazing! She sang Invincible that night and her voice sounded incredible! My favorite PB song and will always make me think of my sister, Brenda and I when we were in our early teens. Gosh, we were alone and on our own at such a young age...funny how a song can take you right back to a time and place in an instant....
I'll tell ya what the 80s were for me....my fave bands overall were hard rock/metal bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Scorpions, Metallica, Aerosmith etc etc....but then I also enjoyed very much Pat Benatar, Heart(Ann and Nancy Wilson)...pop/rock bands like The Fixx, Simple Minds and The Outfield etc....
The 80s had so much variety it was mind blowing compared to nowadays. Damn...hot summer nights, hot girls, good laughs!!!
GREAT SONG AND LOVE THE MOVIE!!!

I remember back in high school and a bit of college some of the girls would dress like her. She's a true hottie and the music out of this world.

The bass sounds sick on this one. Nothing like a Fender Precision played with a pick.

Cool! Helen and Christian Slater. I loved that movie and actually still have it. yet another great movie from the 80's and I not only loved this song but the DiVynals and Billy Idols songs that were also in this film. I had to hunt them all down. ;)

Billie Jean is one of those weird flicks: The writing is bad and the acting is bad but you like it anyway. . .it just has something.

She's an awesome female singer and my favorite as well. Keep going Pat and I hope you get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because you deserve it.

her husbands guitar playing (neil giraldo) is what got me into listening to her... they come to Long Island every year and put on a show at an ampitheater thats practically in my back yard, my house is on a hill overlooking the ampitheater, so needless to say i see all the summers line up from my pool, we have friends over, BBQ and watch all the free concerts!!...lol.. she still sounds great and he still knows how to play that guitar!

Pat was SEXY and she ROCKED!! She didn't need to sell sex, like today's trashy, whore looking, female artists, who's music is, absolute, trash.
Pat was incredibly talented and a true LEGEND! She still kicks ass!
