i meant current tuned up models that are made with the economy in mind. you're right, though it's about 35-40 mpg on the highway at the most for a new floor model. But i can't help but agree, they're destroying what could be one of the cheapest, most fuel efficient cars out there

I despise people that do this to PERFECTLY GOOD, cheap, reliable, fuel efficient cars. This car could easily get 65MPG if cared for properly, and costed you what? $500.00? I have a 1989 Festiva L 3-speed, it gets 30+ mpg city and 35+ on the highway. Festivas with the 5-speed manual can get up to and in some cases over 50 mpg on the highway.

Just want to put my 2 cents in, I have a 1989 Ford Festiva L model all original 114000 miles. Carb. no fuel injection bull. I hate to admit it but i drive mine like i stole it from the second its warm to the time it gets shut off and i've been getting 48mpg

I do that with my daily driver. It's a purple 97 Dodge Intrepid Sport. It is COVERED in mud. People always yell at me to wash my car. I would but mud hides the scratches and it shows that its a tough bitch. Also, I'm lazy, and I like her dirty.

I have an 89 with carb and 4 speed, gets 33 mpg as-is, working to supplement with HHO soon, should get Prius level MPG or better. Dont kill it, that Mazda engine is a workhorse that will go 200K+ mileage if taken care of. People that do things like this with cars will end up driving their mom's 82 Cutlass that gets mpg and wish they hadnt killed the ugly(they think) little car that got them around cheap.
