Last week in NYC, we had our first heat wave of the year. Many of these tips came in handy. We had no AC so we just took cold showers all day. We do have fans so that works most of the time. I can always go to a library or if its the Weekend, the beach or a movie theater. We do have fun eventually. Good thing the subways have AC, just ride that all day. Plus water is a must. Many have died due to dehydration. Stay cool everyone!

I made a "Homemade A/C" unit out of a fan, 20' copper a/c tubing coiled, an ice chest full of ice water and a small pond submersible pump which attaches to the copper with black rubber hoses with paper/cloth towels to catch condensation.

Great thing is, once it is built, all you need to do is exchange the warm water with ice water.

A 5 minute shower indoors works very well at transferring the heat off of you and into the water. Beaches/pools are out in the hot sun, and you may get a sunburn.
