Government should fund the production and research of steel. It is a crime to humanity not to, don't you think? Something this revolutionary needs government support, so why is our government just sitting around?
The heat from the fire on the top floors weakened the structure of the WTC greatly - it became an inferno up there. Steel is not some magical alloy, it's made with, wait for it, FIRE. Once the top floors failed due to the heat and began collapsing down, it caused the next floors to collapse, they weren't built to support several floors worth of weight and failed. With each floor that collapses, more weight is added and a total collapse = common sense.
@BigT27295 Is this a sentence? I have no idea what you're getting at.
The estimated temperatures in towers with all the flammable materials AND JET FUEL is widely estimated to be around 1,000 degrees Celsius. Steel, melts at 1300 degrees C.
You don't need to liquify the steel into it's molten to get it to fail with all the extra weight of the plans/debris already in the towers.
Steel loses half of it's strength at 600 degrees C.
Jet fuel burns at a maximum of 989~C. We know exactly where the planes departed from, distance traveled, fuel capacity of the planes, therefore we have a very good idea of how much fuel was inside the towers at the time. It also burns out quickly, Popular Mechanics quoted an engineer in saying it would have burned no longer than 10 mins, indeed, nothing close to melting temps of steel.
But steel loses HALF of it's strength at 600C. That's the point, not melted steel.
@BigT27295 "NIST reports that pockets of fire hit 1832°F"
Well over half of what was needed to severely compromise an already distressed and overweight floor of the building. 900,000 pounds PER plane to be exact, when fully loaded. At 1800 degrees, it has 10% of it's strength.
Pockets of the fire hit that temp, and you know what they say about weak links do you not?
Metallurgy is not forensics. Nor have you ever dealt with anything remotely close to these circumstances to be any the wiser.
@carbusstop111 actually, some steel+ alloy are much stronger than titanium, titanium is consider strong:weight ratio..By the way Steel are way cheaper to make.
@dan32749 No one ever claimed that the steel turned into molten metal you fucking retard. It doesn't have to be liquid for the steel to flex too far and cause a building to collapse.
@tjv323 Really i heard the firefighters from new york say and i quote " There was molten metal under ground that was running through like lava it was like a foundry"
@dan32749 molten METAL. Not STEEL. Metal does not mean STEEL. Besides, a firefighter saying "I dun saw molten steel" doesn't actually mean that he saw LIQUID steel, or even steel at all. Could have just been HOT steel, glowing red etc.
@AccessDenied55 Really? So building 7 had molten aluminum in it that caused the steel to weaken and made the block long building collapse oh ok wow thank's for clearing that up.
@dan32749 What are you talking about? What buildings? I just said hypothetically, the temperature at which aluminum melts is around the temperature at which steel loses quite a lot of its integrity. There wasn't a real building or occurrence I was talking about. I just said hypothetically, 2 planes could "take out" 3 small buildings made out of steel.

Darva glass is fragile BECAUSE of the mixed structure.
There is no pattern for the alloy to form to. Therefore, where there is no iron touching iron, it will fracture.
If you are determined to keep this structure, my instinct tells me to try adding Fluorine and Calcium compounds.

Two planes can impact multiple buildings in such a way so that three buildings can be destroyed. It's not that hard to imagine.
