  • I eat steel for breakfast

  • National Geographic is fuckin awesome

  • Excellent program! I learned much and I enjoyed doing so, a seemingly endangered combination these days.

  • @Gibranmacias911 Containers are made out of stone

  • thanks prox tube.

  • I enjoy these videos, thank you.

  • thank youuu!

  • Awesome, learned a good amount of stuff. Like these longer videos Nat Geo uploads.

  • Government should fund the production and research of steel. It is a crime to humanity not to, don't you think? Something this revolutionary needs government support, so why is our government just sitting around?

  • 45 freaking minutes. Needs to be edited.

  • 39:45 200,000 tons of steel... is not there.

  • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

i freakin LOVE having full episodes...

i wish i knew another language

This is what you do all night long: Play Blackops. Fuck no lifer.

    Get a blow job.

  • @CrashRSPS5 Are you high or just dumb?

  • @VirtRampage buzz off Nazi

  • 30 second advert -.-

  • Holy crap, a Nat geo upload that isn't 240p O-O

  • @thiennguyenX2 wow you need to wake up. youtube search the youtube user: "ae911" youll find out the truth behind WTC1 WTC2 and WTC7

  • Duh...Bessemer enabled the industrial revolution.....

  • Darva glass is fragile BECAUSE of the mixed structure.

There is no pattern for the alloy to form to. Therefore, where there is no iron touching iron, it will fracture.

If you are determined to keep this structure, my instinct tells me to try adding Fluorine and Calcium compounds.

  • didnt pbs nova make a video similar to this?

  • Cool

  • someone activated a mcom at 2:39

  • cincinnati was actually the first place where the suspension was made. looks very similar but is just smaller. was also designed by robling

  • BUILDING 7 DERP! 9/11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB! DERP DI DERP! WAKE UP SHEEPLE! DERP A DERP!

  • @sketchbookessay It's hard to watch this and still believe those building just crashed at free fall speed in New York.

  • @strategicatch sigh~

The heat from the fire on the top floors weakened the structure of the WTC greatly - it became an inferno up there. Steel is not some magical alloy, it's made with, wait for it, FIRE. Once the top floors failed due to the heat and began collapsing down, it caused the next floors to collapse, they weren't built to support several floors worth of weight and failed. With each floor that collapses, more weight is added and a total collapse = common sense.

  • @thiennguyenX2 Yea all three the first time in the history of the world. RIIIIGHT.

  • @BigT27295 Is this a sentence? I have no idea what you're getting at.

The estimated temperatures in towers with all the flammable materials AND JET FUEL is widely estimated to be around 1,000 degrees Celsius. Steel, melts at 1300 degrees C.

You don't need to liquify the steel into it's molten to get it to fail with all the extra weight of the plans/debris already in the towers.

Steel loses half of it's strength at 600 degrees C.

  • @thiennguyenX2 The temp of fuel didnt get any where near that.

  • @BigT27295

Jet fuel burns at a maximum of 989~C. We know exactly where the planes departed from, distance traveled, fuel capacity of the planes, therefore we have a very good idea of how much fuel was inside the towers at the time. It also burns out quickly, Popular Mechanics quoted an engineer in saying it would have burned no longer than 10 mins, indeed, nothing close to melting temps of steel.

But steel loses HALF of it's strength at 600C. That's the point, not melted steel.

  • @BigT27295 "NIST reports that pockets of fire hit 1832°F"

Well over half of what was needed to severely compromise an already distressed and overweight floor of the building. 900,000 pounds PER plane to be exact, when fully loaded. At 1800 degrees, it has 10% of it's strength.

Pockets of the fire hit that temp, and you know what they say about weak links do you not?

Metallurgy is not forensics. Nor have you ever dealt with anything remotely close to these circumstances to be any the wiser.

  • @thiennguyenX2 Oh ok.

  • @thiennguyenX2 Yea and i guess WTC building #7 just imploded in on itself from some office fires.

  • @BigT27295 "Just some office fires"

    Way to understate.

If no other reason other than an inside job will satisfy you then believe what you will.

  • @thiennguyenX2 just saying some things dont add up.

  • @thiennguyenX2 BEST 9/11 DOCUMENTARY EVER!(FULL MOVIE)

  • @thiennguyenX2 Did you not do any research?

  • @thiennguyenX2 Ive worked in metallurgy for many years son that shit didnt happen that way.

  • @sketchbookessay go away, reddit. fuckin candy ass phags. go fuck ur dad with an upvote

  • Pittsburgh isn't Manhattan…It just built it.

  • NatGeo is the only real educational channel. Please don't ever resort to reality TV!

  • Thanks a lot National Geographic, you are the best.

  • Seems pretty cool.

  • Dear NationalGeographics, Thank you so very much for uploading this to youtube.

    - New #1 fan

  • awesome video

  • i touch metal every day my 45 gun

  • amazing!

  • titanium is stronger

  • @carbusstop111 the ores its extracted from are also rarer than iron

  • @carbusstop111 actually, some steel+ alloy are much stronger than titanium, titanium is consider strong:weight ratio..By the way Steel are way cheaper to make.

  • Wow NG got one right!!!

  • penis

  • It can turn to dust like on 9//11 so it isn't that strong.

  • Cool b**d

  • the brooklyn bridge, the gateway arch, my penis

  • @DawnOfThaDusk my balls :D

  • as a civil engineer in training, I found this very interesting

  • I love these videos NatGeo! Keep it up!

  • Minecraft

  • TOP COMMENT!!!!

  • 167th viewer

  • I've got balls of steel

  • Oh. I just love the word Steel. Just the way it rolls off the tongue......STEEEEL.

  • @fakemadereal STEEEEEEEEEEEL!

  • ﴾͡๏̯͡๏﴿ O'RLY?

  • Two planes can turn steel into molten metal and cause three buildings to collapse right?

  • @dan32749 Molten? No.

Could it cause it to lose quite a lot of its structural integrity? Yes.

  • @Nukefuzion 2 planes - - 3 buildings HELLO ARE THE LIGHT'S ON ANYONE HOME?

  • @dan32749 No one ever claimed that the steel turned into molten metal you fucking retard. It doesn't have to be liquid for the steel to flex too far and cause a building to collapse.

  • @tjv323 Really i heard the firefighters from new york say and i quote " There was molten metal under ground that was running through like lava it was like a foundry"

  • @dan32749 Could be aluminum.

  • @dan32749 molten METAL. Not STEEL. Metal does not mean STEEL. Besides, a firefighter saying "I dun saw molten steel" doesn't actually mean that he saw LIQUID steel, or even steel at all. Could have just been HOT steel, glowing red etc.

  • @tjv323 Ya ok you wanna buy a bridge?

  • @dan32749 The only molten metal in the WTC was Molten Aluminum..The fires in WTC were enough to melt aluminum, and enough to weaken steel.

  • @AccessDenied55 Really? So building 7 had molten aluminum in it that caused the steel to weaken and made the block long building collapse oh ok wow thank's for clearing that up.

  • @Nukefuzion Your statement is incoheriant, multiple buildings? Research building 7 it fell straight down in seconds.

  • @dan32749 What are you talking about? What buildings? I just said hypothetically, the temperature at which aluminum melts is around the temperature at which steel loses quite a lot of its integrity. There wasn't a real building or occurrence I was talking about. I just said hypothetically, 2 planes could "take out" 3 small buildings made out of steel.

  • Wow, what a long video

  • @kevinsinger2 bitch please there are evern longer videos like 2hrs

  • @capitanatair Like i care?

  • love them!

  • @caleb3351 oh really did you get speonsored by astro gaming last year?

  • @capitanatair what? Your comment doesnt make sense

  • Second!

    :)

I love these full episodes. Thanks to all who work at NatGeo!!

  • @qbgeekjtw bitch please seattle the fuck down piece of shit

  • first!
