  • It's is good to see that persons who know nothing about our public schools and the public school employees are the first to begin talking!

Hang it up. Oh, yes, why is it that you choose not to do this in person/on camera? Fear?

  • HILLS: Tell me, how have federal dollars on education increased against the rate of inflation? watch?v=39I6XyzsyFE How have test scores fared since 1970? How much have the # of public-sector union members increased in the same time frame? You'll answer those questions in your next comment.

Fear has nothing to do with why I don't show my face, read the Second Amendment son. Private gun sales are legal in Iowa. ;)

  • Lay them off, let them draw unemployment for the allotted time. At the end of that you get a job. This is exactly what I had to do.

  • BUD: I agree, but public sector unions are literally bankrupting states. Many times these guys don't even contribute fo their pensions. I have to contribute to mine and I assume you have to contribute to yours, they want the taxpayers to fund theirs. If the Fed. Dept. of Ed. was shut down and each state had autonomy to expand school choice not only would taxpayers be off the hook, but kids would probably get a better education.

  • This still doesn't address why on so many issues Bush and GOP chose the FEDS to step on states rights.

  • Robert, are you now admitting that you were wrong on:

Democrat support for NCLB, the fact that entitlements eat up more of the budget than defense spending and... states are free to legalize marijuna. NV has tried it a few times.

I think you're reaching for some more generalized talking points in your latest rant.

  • Lets remember there has to be some account for the Bush mess, 72 percent of his time in office with a GOP Congress. What a mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • See my videos on the Mortgage Meltdown, I've already addressed the central players behind the housing market meltdown--Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Democrats had a slim advantage for most of Bush's first two years, the first 6 months it was 50-50. Democrats controlled Congress his last two years.

Where are you getting this 72% figure? Your post above has nothing to do with this video anyways.

  • Obama is more conservative than Bush on some issues, Take for example, allowing states to legalize medical marijuana,In addition lets remember No Chile Left Behind, Bush v Gore, Terri Schaivo sitation, Medical Marijuana, national building done wrecklessly, doubling of the national debt, not paying for the wars, or Massive Medicare bill COME ON, Atleast Obama respects the Fourth Amendment and has a way to pay for some of his spending,Bush didn't pay for any of his spending.

  • Actually, Obama's flip-flopped on the legalization of marijuana. That's more of a libertarian issue (10th Amend.) and should be left ot the states.

NCLB was supported by more than 3/4 of House and Senate Democrats. Ted Kennedy practially wrote it. Did you not know this?

Bush's avg. deficit as a % of GDP was 4.3%, Obama's running one north of 7% this fiscal year.

The rest of your post (actually all of it) is generalized nonsense.

  • The fault of bad teachers is with the administrators, not the union. There is usually a three year period before any teacher gets tenure. In those three years a teacher can be let go without any reason given. If administration cannot figure out in those three years that a particular teacher is bad, then they are the ones who are not doing their job.

  • yeah, funny how tenure insulates teachers from being canned. Yes, that 3-year cushion gets rid of some of these bad teachers, but now we're seeing what happens when a union contract and teacher tenure get in the way.

What about a teacher who follows orders like a good boy until he gets tenure and then starts sluffing off?

  • First of all, people don't change. If there is a bad teacher, he/she was like that from day one.

Second, tenure protects good teachers because it's good teachers who question administration decisions, and it's those people who would get canned.

Third, if there were no tenure, all those teaching positions would be patronage jobs. If you think there's government abuse now, it's nothing compared to what a no-tenure situation would be.

  • "First of all, people don't change"

    That's your pitch, seriously?

" If you think there's government abuse now"

We're all aware of how easy it is for the public brainwashers to do their duty when education is controlled by a Federal entity.

  • Every comment I have made is from 12 years experience working in the public schools. I see how things work. Instead of demonizing a group of working Americans, criticize the people who bankrupted this country. Teachers never have and would never be able to bring down this economy the way the big banks have. Try getting a teaching job for a year and then you'll see that we're not sitting around planning a socialist revolution. We're just trying to get the kids to learn.

  • You must be getting uncomfortable SFL, you're slowly trying to change the subject.

The NEA was given loads of stimulus money to save orchestras. They're a group of partisan political hacks.

This video is simply about those teachers sitting around wasting millions and millions of dolars to do nothing.

  • All I can say in response to that is teachers should be able to be let go despite their number of years, if they aren't doing their job.

It shouldn't matter how long a teacher has been there, if they're bad, get rid of them.

Secondly, the Constitution says nothing about education, this is something left to the states, there should be no Federal Dept. of Education.

  • no capitaism works evertime.its government contolled capitalism thats just as bad as socialism.government is controling to much.Liberalism is destroying America.and the world!! it will not last..Never Has...

  • You're onto something Angel. Your comment reminds me of liberals railing about our health care system as if it's a free market system when it is not even close to being a free market.

The gov't has slowly been taking over health care for decades

  • I don't know what happened at the start of the vid, but it was only momentary.
