  • God DAMN! I LOVE CORSAIR! This case has a lot class.

  • Make that Silver section BLACK and then...and ONLY THEN would i recommend this case.

  • Anyone know roughly how much this final build out would cost? just looking for a ballpark figure, thanks

  • @infin8vibrations 150$ on new egg

  • R3

  • When is this going to be available? If not soon, what alternatives are you guys going to buy?

  • @dxwoodwardx you can get it on newegg right now :D

  • Just noticed around 0:40 the push-button for the side panels, while a nice idea, does mean that -by the looks of it - there are no screw holes at the back edges of the panels. Why is this a problem? For most people it won't be, however I am looking for a silent build case that I could install LOCKABLE screws on. Unfortunately, that means this case isn't suitable, it seems. Shame, it looks great otherwise.

  • first case that given me upgrade fever since I bought my antec p182 four years ago.... :)

  • this was suppose to be available on the beginning of feb, i wanted it but I'm so glad I didnt wait and just bought an antec p280 instead. Now I find out that it has been pout back until mid april, lol.

  • The R3 killer

  • Shut up and take my money!

  • Will it have a windowed version ?

  • hurrrrrry corsair, i've put my PC build on standby because of this case x_x!

  • Take my fucking money now Corsair.

  • I'm still waiting for this to come out...

  • An upmarket R3?... exactly what I'm looking for!

  • Make it in white and ill buy it.

  • Seems like the perfect case for me. Doesn't look too flashy and is highly functional at the same time.

  • What happens when i have say, an external hard drive plugged into the front USB and i want to open the door to use a disk drive?

Seems it could be a pretty major issue for some people.

Besides that i think it could be a good case, clean looks good airflow and most importanly importantly removable disk cages. Should be standard to include 5.25"-3.5"-2.5" brackets, how many people actually use more than 1 5.25" drive bay besides in water cooled systems?

  • @MonsterMoshi16 actually the front door is removable

  • Lol put the video on x2 speed and he looks like retarded!

  • @UltimateWindows1 yeah, and you look retarded at normal speed

  • @slipperydippery I just made a joke, you are not better, u know. I don't have nothing against him, but the video speedup in Youtube sucks!

I wish that silver section was black :/

  • @0oDarkLordRevano0 I kinda like the silver section, I think it gives it some much needed attitude like how the old PS3 used to have a silver lining. Then again...to each his own ;)

  • I was going to get an R3, but I guess I know where my tax return is going now!

  • I was happy with my brand new Define R3, but then came the Corsair 550D.

  • snap. i just bought the 500r. this looks better! i love the magnetic fan filters! :(

  • dear santa... hope you being saving money to buy me one of these XD.

  • Looks like a significant HDD cage and HDD/SSD tray design improvement over those available in the 650D. Can these fit, and are they available, for the 650D?

  • Corsair should sponsor my computer lol, I got Corsair 600T case, Asus Rog Maximus 4 Extreme, Intel 2600K Cpu (oced), Corsair Vengeance Black 16GB ram, Corsair H100, GTX 560ti Twin Frozr II Sli (oced), Corsair Force 3 v2 120GB SSD, 1TB WD Caviar Black (sata 3 version), Corsair AX850 and better wire management than the system in the vid XD oh and Corsair m60/k60 combo... what a fanboy...

  • Wow, looks really promising! If this gets good reviews I might just replace my R3 with this case (the R3 has rather disappointing build quality when coming from a P182).

  • Not even close to Mac Pro quality neither to Fractal Design!

btw, the foam in this case is just a dust cover! Should be using other great technology :)

  • Nice case and all, but in the real world putting two GPUs in there (without side ventilation or fans for that matter) will result in a very hot case. Put it's pretty for marketing I guess.

  • Looks like the H100 should be downward firing in this system as set up in the video so warm air is them vented out the back. Is that true?

  • Loving the cable management of the guy's mic.

And the case seems really well thought out too!

  • Looks like a lot of nice ideas. Looks like there are 2 sets of SSD mount holes on the drive trays so an SSD can be mounted on top and one on the bottom. Then maybe one could then mount an SSD on top below that tray and end up with 7 drives (3-SSDs and 4-3.5 inch HDDs).

Maybe wishful thinking on my part. I don't recall you mentioning what appeared to be an optional bottom mount for a 120mm/140mm fan.

  • Looks like a really well-built case. However:

    -$170

-Front airflow volume through those little cracks is questionable

-Side and top air vents are either sealed shut or wide open (can't vent just one fan; not good for sound isolation)

-Dust filter on top fan vents looks really nice but actually they're useless (bad, even) on exhaust vents

  • They learned from Fractal Design, which I guess is a good thing...but kinda feels like a sad attempt, probably a successful attempt but still sad. "The Corsair Obsidian 550D offers a revolutionizing combinations of cooling customization, noise reduction and builder friendly features." Not really revolutionizing though, the R3 and R2 has been around for years.

Also, those HDD wagons looked and sounded extremely plastic.

  • OMG I'M SO GETTING THIS! This totally meet my needs. I'm so buying this one! Finally I can replace my Antec 182 chassi with an even better one, and smaller, quieter. Loving the dust filters, the sound dampening materials and so on.

Finally a case I can recommend for those who want a quiet computer, but yet can have high end components! And it seems it cools the stuff inside it really good.

And it looks so good, that you can have it in the living room.

  • this thing looks so sexy!! im helping my friend build his pc! im so telling him to get this case!!! love cosair! i always try to get there stuff even if it might cost a little more

  • Wow, it's just screaming, BUY ME NOW! I'm currently using Fractal Design R2. Will probably buy the 550D sometime during the spring.

  • PC master race.

  • such a shame about corsairs cases, the usb ports and other junk on the front completely put me off, lian-li are the only cases i can stand. solid brushed aluminium is more functional and better looking. but whatever, its all opinions i guess.

  • Price??? That's kind of the make or break on this one... Nothing revolutionary about this case, but it seems to have all I want.

  • Give me a white one and i'll buy it in a rush xD

  • What is wrong with the front? Jeez it's clean as **** nothing wrong with that.

  • I called Corsair and talked to support and they said it wasn't coming out until March =(

  • @turok4n64 They already shipping them to the USA... Hopefully mid to late February.

  • It's worth bearing in mind that you can get aftermarket silencing kits for the 650d, because the 550d looks like a munter. lol.

  • drool..

  • I want 500r with noise dampening!

  • That aluminum thingy on the front ruins everything...

  • @TheHalfFinn It is detachable. You don't need it.

  • Was going to get a P280 but I think this is a better case for my needs. Qualtiy construction, quiet operation, flexibility with fan config, sleek understated industrial look and NO side panel window (why would you want one of those).

  • Please keep at least 50 meters away from the outer expansion slots, as this will emit fire.

  • Get a P280 instead...

  • This case looks ridiculous from the front...

Looks like some kind of shitty unknown brand name case..

But i'm confident with Corsair's designs and sound dampening materials

    Nice Product :)

  • I have been looking around for a new case for some time now, and haven't been able to find one to my liking. This case, the Obsidian 550D, is exactly what i have been looking for. The only thing i don't like about this case is that it doesn't come with a side panel window.

I like my cases to look simple and sleek with very minimal exterior IO options. This case ticks all the boxes for me and it has a very simple, clean and minimal design and look. Very well done Corsair.

  • @LordJummy They are competing with P280

  • @Sp33dJunki3 This seems to top the P280.

  • Looks very promising. I'd like to see if the sound dampening material is any good. There's so much feature-checkbox material out there in cases now that doesn't do much. Vents look impressive. Make us an all white version and loose the Al if it could bring the price down noticeably. ;)

  • Looks like a good quiet case. Is there a white edition like 600T?

  • it would look nicer if the front panel was all black

  • The left-most DIMM doesn't look to be clipped in properly. Or is it just me?

    It's a shame the 650D isn't terribly quiet, because it's the best-looking case, IMO.

  • @EthanWark The 650D needs to be updated with the USB3 headers.

  • @doomtomb3 I daresay it will, but it does have the feed-through USB3 headers for the time being.

  • The perfect case. Finally

  • Nice video Jeff But I am curious what the GPU temps were based on your configuration when under load conditions

  • why why why the ugly silver on the front

  • @gunnut1989 I know right,everything so perfect...And they f*ck it up with that ._.

  • when will this come on the market?

  • @LordJummy ye but the r3 is half the price... well atleast here in sweden it is.

  • why are you using the big bang x58 ??

  • Now if you can just make a MicroATX Obsidian series... That would be sweet.

  • It's the 400R but insulated and $60 more. Bit pricey.

  • @AndImObama WRONG

  • @LordJummy The inside layout is the exact same. I have a 400R.

The only change is the exterior.

  • @AndImObama no. it's the same as the 500R, the 400R doesn't come with irremovable HDD tray.

  • @Ruiso7 Point taken. Though I have no idea why you would ever need to take out the HDD tray, the 6990 fits with a fan on the hdd cage in a 400R.

  • @AndImObama i know but still what if in the future they make an 13.5" card XD

  • @Ruiso7 If I can afford it, I probably won't be using a 400R still.

  • Corsair makes the best cases!

  • I dont like the outside but inside it is okay

  • only if the front didnt have that nasty silver usb header,, could of made it black and i would of liked it more.

  • Corsair <3

  • Now that is one clean case. Nice massive cut out and the wire management holes are in the right place. Removable vent covers are neat. The hard drive trays are a no-brainer to use. A lot of pro-folks who don't like gamer looking cases will be wanting the 550D.

  • why no usb 2.0 on front panel?

  • @kevinsmammaxd USB 3.0 is backward compatible :)

  • Hmm. This or the Carbide 500R?

  • Finally Corsair has a sound dampening case worth purchasing!

  • Each iteration of case Corsair make gets better and better. Great work Corsair

  • The Define R3-killer?

  • @kassimma nah

  • @kassimma nope ;)

  • @kassimma

    ofc.

  • Probably just paint the front panel and add a window :D

  • Not sure that I like the silver front panel with the power & USB (would have been nicer to keep it similar to the 650D/800D in that respect) but that's my only nitpick. Seems like a great case.

  • not a real obsidian :( looks ugly next to a 650D and looks cheap

  • not bad

  • Such a sexy case!

Too bad the frontpanel is silver... :<
