  • this game was one of the best this gen and highly underrated

    can't wait for LOS 2

  • @AdeptSimpleton

Because SotN was babby's first Castlevania and they think that any game that doesn't copy it isn't Castlevania. Many people who DIDN'T ACTUALLY PLAY THIS also called it a God of War clone, even though the two play radically different. In my opinion, this is much closer to the 8 bit and 16 Castlevanias than any of the metroidvanias that have been getting released lately.

  • 0:20 when the violins comes in. Fucking brilliant. More epic soundtrack is hard to find. Hope for a sequel in the not too distant future. But for now; HAVE AT YOU!

  • @Speirs90

You saw the cutscene after the staff roll? The sequel - should there be actually one - will surely play in that (= our) time.

  • @Lenariet

No I meant we'll get it 2013-2014. I still want it to be in the medieval times, I DO NOT want it to be in present with cars and computers, IMO that's not Castlevania.

  • Castlevania is one of the greatest tremendous game ever on ps3 and xbox 360 i adore this game especially Gabriel Belmont the lord of shadow for me its the best castlevania ever and fuck the other people when they said this game is not good

  • Undoubtedly best Castlevania game yet, and the best music of the game.

  • Gabriel Belmont simply OWNS !

  • @AdeptSimpleton

Only Castlevania fans had reasons to do so, I suppose, because as I said before there really is nothing this game should be ashamed of in its own term.

  • Ahh...the song that plays during Necromancer's Abyss. You know, I really enjoyed this game. The difficulty and the story's conveyance were spot on.

But everything else remaining unsaid...Necromancer's Abyss is BRILLIANT. Easily the best level of the game and my favorite of this entire genre. It's absolutely captivating.

  • @Kujakuseki01

I agree, a gorgeous level, the music captured the pompous feeling of it very well.

  • @AdeptSimpleton cuz it doesnt have guns that aim down the sight, or killstreaks, or headshots, or multiplayer, or quickscoping.

basically, nobody likes it cuz its not Call of Duty

  • @LegendsNeverDie91 That's the dumbest reason I've ever heard. Why don't you people for once in your life try to not compare a game to Call of Duty.

Before you move on to Stage 2 of your generic, overused, cliched argument, no, I don't dislike Castlevania, and no, I don't adore Call of Duty. Try again.

  • @tinyraptor well what do you want me to do? FPS is the standard of the game industry now. the majority of the gaming community is made up of simple minded retards who find that repetitive shit amusing for hours. thats why great games like these are overlooked. because they dont involve shooting people.

  • @LegendsNeverDie91 Come up with an original argument. Yours doesn't even add up, because a TON of games that aren't FPS become popular and sell millions.

  • @tinyraptor then why have capcom and bioware ruined their games (dragon age 2, resident evil 6) by trying to capture the call of duty audience?

  • @LegendsNeverDie91 Have they? True or not, there are still games out there that aren't FPS, that don't try to cater to the Call of Duty crowd. Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, Demon's Souls, Portal, God of War...I will agree that there is a trend to make games more accessible to the mainstream though.

  • @tinyraptor thats my whole point. i applaud the guys behind those games who stay true to their fanbase. what i was saying is that these kind of games dont get the attention they deserve because theyre not what the main demographic of the gaming community want.

  • @LegendsNeverDie91 The games I mentioned sell a lot of copies, but Lords of Shadow doesn't. You can't attribute Lords of Shadow not selling well to it not being a Call of Duty clone, because other games sell well without being CoD-ified. There's something else about Lords of Shadow that makes people stay away.

  • @tinyraptor

It probably simply lacked marketing. There really is nothing about this game that would keep anyone away apart from those who don't like such fighting games, the Middle Ages setting or Castlevania fans that don't want to recognize this game as part of its universe. They probably thought having Kojima's name in it and some references to Metal Gear Solid would make the game sell, but obviously they were wrong. Still, I'm glad that they are apparently working on the sequel.

  • @Lenariet That's a very good point.

  • im not saying this game was good or bad all adventure games are the boss plus the charcters are amazing they all have diffrent backstorys and be some amazing crossovers like seeing a fallin knight with a greek god of war or to see a devil hunter meet a belmont well be awsome that can revoultionize games for co-op and who wouldnt want to the comander of the normandy help the chief in a battle to save all iner galatic races

  • @grimconan but without Xbox, Ninja Gaiden wouldn't have been as glorious as it was :( (either good graphics in exchange for content and framerate or vice versa since the game was originally a PS2 game). Not to mention it brought another type of action gameplay...

  • This is game will be forever in my mind !

  • They promised a continue :) It is a a question of honor and respect ! If the producers lied and fucked me up, i will fuck them twice :D My game 2010 !!!!

  • I thought this game was decent although I was more of a Castlevania Symphony of the night fan. If they want a Castlevania game with a classic RPG feel to it I think they should make it like Demon's Souls or Dark souls

  • @t0mmygun95 now that you mention it, A 3D castle explore with Demon Soul elements would be mindblowing to castlevania fans! even I am anticipating this even though It will never happen.

  • @trolltroop006

i forgot to tell death is in this game but you don't fight him (you fight a dragon instead :( )

to be honest the 2 vampire brothers were sorta like death throwing theyre weapons around

  • MOST EPIC GAME EVER

  • No Vampire Killer Whip/Song, no Lost Painting, No bloody tears, No Dracula, No Death... This is a sad castlevania. :(. How could anyone like it, really?

  • @TrollTroop006 they were all there, vampire killer was the best in this game, it playing during the musicbox level

  • @TrollTroop006 `well it's something different this story is kinda more darker then the normal castlevania

(the intro of super castlevania whas kinda darker tough)

this game is like an alternate dimension or something

  • @TrollTroop006 There is Vampire Killer song and whip, there is Dracula and there is Death. lol

  • Can't wait for Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 and the movie about Lords of Shadow 1!!!!!!!!!

  • one of the best games period completely rebooted a great game and dare i say made it better

  • Konami should just remaster every single Castlevania game they have made from the 1980s to 2000 and put it into on an Xbox or PS3 disk.

  • @spartan2222222222222 That's dumb. They would loose a lot of profit more than likely. You could probably only do that with a more famous title like Zelda, but I think Castlevania is much better than Zelda.

  • @TheMetal802 it's not dumb if it's good. besides it would be better than the new castlevania titles on nintendo handhelds.

  • @spartan2222222222222 Well I meant it would be dumb because they would loose a lot of money probably because the fact is, it isn't the most famous game franchise. Personally it's mine but more people like more conman games like Zelda.

  • Excelente juego, excelente musica, excelente historia, esto si es un juego de verdad ... solo con escuchar esto me dan ganar de volvermelo a pasar...

  • Its amazing that they not only paid for someone to write a full score but that so much pashion went into its creation. I think that from the beautiful detail of the characters to the absolutly enormous world they set the story in and the gourgeous music, how could someone not think this game was a treasure? Fun to play and amazing to look at, it was the first game I played in full HD and it was worth every second.

  • I like this game greatly... Until the VERY end. Then the whole story turned to shit for me :(

  • Hell I am fine with the soundtrack for Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 being a bit rougher but if that means that songs like this or Waterfalls of Agharta will not be in it, then I really have something against it.

  • when i first heard this song on the game my jaw just dropped..i was blown away..

  • @mabinogibelmont ya jaws dropped down and you where blown away ? what is it with music these days???

    i was stun,shocked,and blazzed away

  • @grimconan music theses days just give it to ya striaght up with the satisfied feeling to listen to it agian and agian...

  • Disappointed with LOS, but it's a great game even if I don't accept it as a CV. I really respect the effort put into it.

I just couldn't get past the melodrama, Character bio/weapon background/overall story (too much masonry & wtf w/ Agharta...), Dark Crystals (bondage porn much?), and the long arms/short legs(too primal/LOTR), all that and how they didn't include all the music on the OST.

  • This whole song is awesome but the beginning is just badass!

  • This score when listened to showed the depth of Gabriel's struggle to fight off evil and be redeemed for his sins.

  • This is the song of lords of shadow there is a reason why it's my most played song in my I-pod I have curse of darkness, circle of the moon, harmony of dissonance yet this one piece along with some of the others in this album like the waterfalls of agharta make me wish how classic cv music in a non rock way would sound with the los tone of music also it's just too good and not too loud for my ears. Yet as far as gameplay goes they have a bit of ways to go like the platforming but still so good.

  • Kratos sees under his bed looking for Dante.

Dante sees under his bed looking for Chuck Norris

Chuck Norris sees under his bed looking for Gabriel Belmont.

Gabriel doesn't need to do that.

  • I was expecting more when listening to this....

But this game was a disappointment in many ways.

    Too LOTR ish

Monsters were all extremely apelike and primal...(long arms short legs....)

Vampires reminded me of THE WIZARD OF OZ.

DARK CRYSTALS SUXORS! I mean seriously, mixing FF-VI w/ CV = BAD IDEA

Patrick Stuarts over-the-top melo-drama made me shake my head.

Overt Masonic overtones (kind-of got annoying for us conspiracy theorists)

Story wasn't very convincing...and tried to be too epic.

  • Comment removed

  • Dear dislikers. Look at the dislike bar. Now look at your penis. Now look back at the dislike bar. There's no difference!

  • AWESOME. MUSIC.

  • bah this game should' be considered a canon the story was amazing and I think gabriel was an amazing character with an interesting story (I know it sounds cruel since the character was suffering the entire game XD) but still I love this game and I can't wait for a second part

  • Great music

  • Most underrated game of 2010...and definitely one of the most underrated games of this decade....

  • @TheWitchking123 so true they defo dont know gameing who underrate this game its simply the most amazing and emotional game i hve played

  • @manuthekillers INDEED!!...This game brings back the goof-ol feel of playing games...a time when game was actually extremely fun at heart...games likes these are very rare these days.. :/

  • @TheWitchking123 When i played this game back in 2010 ... i surely thought that it was going to be game of the year .... 20 hours of beautiful , impressive landscape with interesting backstory to each environment ..... And they call themselves gamers ....

  • @kickassemperor Indeed!! 8D..plus the soundtrack was simply gorgeous..and it has that "warm" feel which games had long back!!...I thought such games were extinct...you know tbh..I just thought that gaming has all gone downhill and developers are becoming greedy pigs(*cough*COD*cough*)..until I played his game..this game made me think that there is still some hope for gaming...and that warm charm is not yet vanished...:')

  • @TheWitchking123 But i am still pissed off that this game didn't get the respect it deserved :(

  • @TheWitchking123 At first I was a little dissapointed at how drastic it was from other Castlevania games. But then, it just got so good that I forgot all about that.

  • @sworsmage There are some games which are good rite from the start and get a little boring afterwards and there are some games which you have to play for a little while before you get to know their true beauty.LOS falls in the latter category :)..but imho LOS was wonderful...from start to finish...its quite sad isn't how we don't get many games like this these days? ;)

  • @TheWitchking123 yeah, absolutely right! my top 10 games of all time: (i played over 500 videogames, so i know, what i say):

    Castlevania Lords of shadow

alan wake, gta 4, skyrim, fallout 3, the darkness (another superunderrated game), silent hill series, fable series, deus ex human revolution, force unleashed (superunderrated)

  • After a year gone, this game still manages to bring me back.

  • I took my time at the calendar just to hear this music.

  • I felt the game was better written than every other castlevaynia games Ive played. What people really need to focus on is that what people really have problems with. There are too many Bayonetta, DMC, GoW type games out there. Combo smash up gameplay gets old real fast imo. I can say I enjoy platforming more than sidescrolling though. Its really just a matter of opinion.

I think of Mystical Ninja 1&2. It went from 3D free world to sidescroll location and I loved both games.

  • I have to say that this game had great elements. Honestly though, it didn't feel like a Castlevania game, it felt more like Castlevania - Lords of the Ring -....

  • I'm sorry, but this game is by far superior to any of the God of War games.

  • @rebirthangel Yes but this is one of many games with great graphics and shitty history.

  • @YourTroubIe What is ment by shitty history? Is in crappy games in the series, or that this particular game had a bumpy history of development?

    Just curious.

  • @rebirthangel I was talking about this game. They made focus on the graphics and gameplay but the history itself is really poor. I love Castlevania series since I had my PlayStation 1. I was expecting an incredible game but I got this with one of the worst end ever.

  • @YourTroubIe OIC. Sorry the game had a crap ending. :(

  • @rebirthangel LoS was made as a "series reboot". It isn't following any cannon parts of the story at all. You could say that it is in the same "world" as the others, but in an alternate timeline where things have turned out differently. It makes mention of the Bernhard's from Lament of Innocence. But it's not necessarily tied in with the other games. That's why the story is odd for it. But I think it had an interesting one.

  • @rebirthangel u may as well say softn was superior to metroid. lol

  • @rebirthangel Oh i could not agree with you more

  • @rebirthangel

Yeah I'll agree but they did have a better score then this game.

  • @rebirthangel well what is so superior? the blocking system that sucks or the strange camera positions

god of war still the best my friend in graphics, movement ,fighting and bossbattles

but this is a good rip off just like dante inferno

  • @grimconan How come critics said that this was better then?

  • @spyro1132 lol did you ever read official psm :castlevania 8.7.........gow3 9.7..and thats the highest ever given 2 a game along with uncharted2

    but its a good game

  • @grimconan official playstation magazines OPENING paragraph for the review was

"I am only going to mention god of war once and that is to say that this is better. More suprises, greater variety, satisfying combat and the sense that it never stops trying to impress you. It`s the kind of experience where you look back on early levels and can`t belive they were in the same game because they feel like a lifetime ago. In terms of story, progression and changing settings, this is more on par with...

  • @grimconan ... Uncharted 2 than the efforts of the tall. bald and angry one."

(sorry I went over the comment type limt)

  • @grimconan there were 3D castlevania games before god of war. devil may cry is basically a better version of the early 3D castlevanias. god of war is a better version of devil may cry.

it's stupid when people call games rip offs because different games in a single genre are going to be alike in some way. castlevania LOS is the best 3D castlevania and is more similar to the early 3D versions. god of war is great but it isnt original.

  • @ArmorbyGod i know.... i have play al the hack and slash for more then a decade but when god of war was put out it was the ultimate hack and slash for me

also liked primal very much and soulreaver and legacy of kain was very good to

lets just be happy we did not have the x box

  • @rebirthangel F yea it is.

  • @rebirthangel Not to mention that it's SOOOOOOOO underrated

  • @rebirthangel God of War is more brutal, and violent, speaks about vengeance, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, is agressive, and more poetic, and speaks more about love, and i like the two, for me, these are the best of this generation

  • @Tercinho14 This is perhaps, one of the best comments I have gotten towards my original comment. You sir have not only taken up for both games, but also layed out good reasons as to why.

You are a winner in my book. :)

  • @rebirthangel I couldn't agree more with you =D

  • @rebirthangel but it's almost kinda the same...

WTF AM I SAIYING THIS IS BETTER I LOVED THIS MUTCH MORE THEN GOD OF WAR

  • @rebirthangel I can think of many aspects to which LOS surpasses GOW

  • Dont you think all the music sounds the same? I just downloaded the OST and it got... boring real quick, not like C:SOTN's music that was pretty diverse. This music is cool, but all songs sound like they were only one song, and reminded me of GoW. It was a little disappointing.

  • @JewelOfSoul I´m sorry to tell you this, but you are ralley an ignorant of music...i study composition and i can tell you that the music of this game if far superior to any Castlevania game and to almost every game out there...it´s harmony, it´s way to make the different voices of the instruments merged with a variety of rythms and tempos, the scales they use, the cords...everything in this music is what you should call "music"...i accept that SotN had good music, but nothing compared to this..

  • Awesome Theme....

  • This and Waterfalls of Agharta were pretty much the only Castlevaniaish tracks of the game.

  • @TheXell being in the game industry myself, I definitely see where you are coming from. LoS did nothing particularly original, but it did it all very well which is what made the difference for me. Additionally, all the art (music included) was beautiful and the story was interesting and lovingly detailed (tons of lore).

  • @Britishdude42 HI. I'm 15 and REALLY THINK I HAVE SOME SERIOUS IDEAS FOR GAMING. IF I WANT TO MAKE MASTERPIECE GAMES WHEN I GROW UP, WHAT DO I DO?

  • @videogameviolin honestly man, get into the business learn graphic design, story boarding or some sort of game oriented skill and try and engage yourself in the business..I'm where i'm at because of my lack of effort don't be like that go all the way read the stories of greats like Hideo Kojima you can do it just don't slow down ever completely immerse yourself in your passion. Never quit.

  • @jubbelz Thanks man. I'll keep going for it.

  • @Britishdude42

yeah the story kept me griped and the voice acting was god amazing, but the combat was nothing special but the story kept me going on.

  • The game was okay, the problem was that pretty much nothing was original about it and it had nothing to offer to fans of the genre besides the setting. Pretty much everything in LoS had already been done by other games, and while the end product is impressive considering the development team, its just not very memorable for people that have played Darksiders, God of War, Devi May Cry, Shadow of the Collossus etc.

My main Problem with it was that it took itself too serious though.

  • @TheXell Despite some curious design decisions, I'd still say it was far and away the most visionary and interesting action game of 2010, including the likes of God of War 3 and Bayonetta. God of War 3 was the big pretender. Large in scale, but lacked scope and ambition that Lords of Shadow has in spades. Castlevania is lengthy and the combat is satisfying. Oh and the soundtrack? Fucking astonishing.

  • @KingKossie

Well i guess we can agree to disagree then. To me the game just lacked anything the made me sit up and think "oh thats new". The big scope of GoW basically IS the games focus, its true that its kinda lackluster in other areas but at least its a defining characteristic, something that i felt missing from LoS. The thing i liked most is that even the little video at the end didnt necessarily qualify as sequel-bait.

But i'd probably give the possible sequel a chance.

  • Myself being a Belmont....I understand the compelling and uncontrollable urge to destroy Dracula.....

    Wish me luck....

    And plenty of Holy Water

  • @LoafcakeX1 Belmont = "en sunt DRACUL!"

  • Wonderful soundtrack. Bravo!

  • 7 people do not belong to the belmont family

  • Funny that I read one of the official reviews for this OST soundtrack, and the reviewer had nothing but glowing praise for the entire soundtrack, except for this song, which he thought was a major let-down compared to the rest of the album. I couldn't disagree with him more on that though. This is easily my favorite track in a wholly brilliant soundtrack.

  • I feel all the power of belmont in myself ever i hear this song !!!

  • More than Epic, more than fucking Satan power!

  • This shit is epic

  • this was by far the best original track of teh game.. not only the piece is actually great, but they used in teh game only 2 times (which kept its power) and to help biuld a lot of epicness into 2 interesting pre-bbig boss battle puzzles

  • 2 top commenters just learned how to count and they're bothering us with it.

Back on topic, this is on of my favorite OSTs in the game, along with Ice Titan and others.

  • castlevania podria escucharlo por dias

  • Gabriel vs Leon = Leon getting owned

  • @813mm nah dont place them together, it's a whole different universe so we can't really compare it...

  • @reflexassassin Gabriel would do that

  • @813mm do what? 'own' leon, i doubt it

  • @reflexassassin you said "Don't place them together" I said Gabriel would ;)

  • This is the most wonderful soundtrack I have ever heard in a video game.

  • Amazing. I got a goosebumps while listening to this song:)

  • Gabriel, you did not deserve your fate.

  • @1RadicalDreamer Shhhh Respect for those who still didnt finish the game! (I totally agree with you)

  • This song is so well done that I can actually feel struggle between the pure heart at the center of Gabriel's character and the nature of the tragedy that has befallen him. The tides of success and failure colliding in the motion of a restless sea under which the glimmer of hope that navigating these waters will somehow be worth it in the end... what a powerful theme.

  • Love this song. It kinda builds up to a hopeful moment.

  • Best of the Belmont themes. This track feels epic.

  • What a terrible night for the people whom dislike this masterpiece

  • @CrisMoct Actually, it's Dracul. :D

  • @MasterReynard Not this shit again.

  • @corneliab Trollolololol! I'm just messing with you. I see both names as interchangeable. And even in the concept art inside the game, it says his name is Dracula. :P

  • @CrisMoct lets not spoil anything for anyone alright?

  • @CrisMoct i finished the game, but so many people didnt.

  • type in youtube to mp3 and google that copy pasta url in ??? profit + no need to torent

  • Kinda feels like The Dark Knight

  • AMAZING

  • This entire soundtrack is awesome, whether I'm playing the game (kickassemperor4, I quite agree) or just sitting back and getting lost in the music, this is the #1 vg soundtrack IMHO, supplanting Mass Effect 2. Speaking of which, have they put this out on CD?

  • @ColeOfCentauri The Limited Edition of Castlevania:LoS contains a music cd along with the game itself as well as an art book. being the actual game case. That said I've not seen the actual music sound track released on its own.

  • @Schwaltzvald Yeah, my searches through google confirmed that, though there's a torrent out there that I could download in under an hour (at least I think it was), hopefully they release the cd in stand-alone like what they did with Zelda Master Quest. I'll definitely buy it.

  • Oscar Araujo's work is impressive, but I still kinda miss Michiru Yamane's style.

  • @ariolo00 Nobody will do the work as Yamane's style for Castlevania.

  • NICE MUSIC

  • 6 people do NOT belong in the Belmont family!

  • @StrengthyHonor I agree with you there those not of the blood will suffer!

  • @StrengthyHonor they are 9 now, probably shanoa, alucard, soma, nathan, hector, jonathan, charlotte, eric lecarde and... euh... I don't know.. Zobek?? D:

  • @IlMoonlightlI Strengthyhonor like this!

  • Love this song.

  • spanish guys doesn't disappointing me, this is a incredible game, castlevania 3d for real!

  • what a jewel of a game

  • BEST song in the game!!! :D hope they make another castlevania game!!!! poor gabriel turns into dracula :(

  • @bboycyl get the resurrection DLC when it comes out this month ive read it will finish the reverie DLC and will then take place in the modern times of the secret ending so you might even get to play as dracula gabriel

  • @fallenangel2100 I wonder if he'll maybe play like Alucard. (Similarly- not exactly)

  • the color of your soul... you must be a belmont

  • is this a remake of draculas battle from castlevania 4? sounds very similar. awesome piece

  • @bs2454 Actually it sounds to me like a tiny little bit of Simon's Theme repeated.

  • @KingLofiOne Which part though? I love Simon's Theme but I can't hear it here. Dave Cox, the game's producer said it's in this.

  • @bellboy64 /watch?v=5dauRYb9il8 at 1:20 to 1:35, I think. It sounds kinda similar.

  • @KingLofiOne Hmm, yeah. I can sorta hear it. Thanks for the reference.

  • @bellboy64 im convinced its a remake of the music that plays during the opening credits of castlevania 4. my opinion though

  • @bellboy64 The very beginning of the track is identical to the beginning of Simon's theme (first 20 seconds).

  • One of the best games with one of the best songs ever!!!
