  • Waow there is a lot of hate around here =\

My thought is always: WHO THE FUCK CARES?!? It's fucking hard and demanding to do this shit nevermind actually coming up with it. Sure you can say they just sat down and threw a bunch of random shit on the table, but let me see you do that and make a choreography that lasts over an hour and still has a sense of development along with matching music.

Just ignore the quirks and appreciate the amount of strength, control and work needed to create this.

  • this is the single stupidest fucking thing to ever happen on the face of this planet

  • What the fuck am I watching? This is why people like Lady Gaga, because you can literally be mentally ill and people will think you're a genius and creative and talented

  • Any chance of you putting up the guy and his squeaky hip-thrust skateboard? The whole piece where's he's alone on the stage..

  • I've had to watch this several times to really appreciate it. After I got over the original shock of it and allowed myself to take it in and digest it, it really is amazing.

It's harder to watch it like this, broken up online and out of context, because we really do miss so much of the story not having all of it together.

And to all the haters - Art is not always "beautiful" in the popular sense, nor is it always incredibly accessible. It's about pushing boundaries, and creating new concepts.

  • wtf is this?

  • None of you people "appreciating" this great "work" would have a fucking clue what it was about if they didn't tell you first.

That doesn't make it brilliant, that simply makes it fucking confusing and snobby.

  • @poopfartpenis Not everyone needs to be spoonfed.

  • who knows but the ending is funny as hell

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS WEIRD SHIT.

  • The internet in a nutshell

  • Maybe the part with the skateboarder describes teenage years? Like the skateboarder is discovering sex (which was wonderfully performed by dry humping the air:D) and the girls start feuding and trying to compete with each other and the guy that screamed maybe was displaying the anger and angst? And the cripple around everyone who can walk. That's just my take on it otherwise what has been seen cannot be unseen.

  • You see this, Internet? THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

  • So this is where people get weird ideas for music videos.

  • my favorite passage is at 9:14

  • pure art!!!!!!!!

  • well, if any of thoses performers or marie choinard or any related to this work can read this :

YES, this wont forgeted in my head, YES i can see the work and the very minuted movements so YES i won't say this is just "bullshit" and not a work ..

but now , honestly ... i mean seriously, art is sometime something twisted ..

  • You know... this might be one of those pieces that only other artists can appreciate, but you have to admit it does provoke an immediate reaction. And that's largely the point.... it makes you look at the human body and your own expectations in a completely different way.

Awkward and uncomfortable? Totally. Well-thought out? Yup, that too.

  • omg why is the last part not up?! I need to know what happens!!

  • 5:21 I heard zoidberg going "woopwoopwoop" when she scuttled away.

  • SOMEONE MUST POST THE DENOUEMENT!!!

  • OK I get the cripple watching all the couples go by, and seeing all of the unhappy women. And I think a birth seen in the beginning complete with happy semen. I think. But to much flopping with no chance of interpretation. Or was chaos the point? Some of it I liked. and some was offensive! 7.5 out of 10 for me. The guy on the skate board thing was total comedy for me.

  • People get payed for this? ... the fuck?

  • You guys can bullshit yourselves into believing your cultured for liking this but in reality it is the bigest bunch of shit that has ever been created.

  • @VenVidiVici My comment was going to be something a long the lines of that as well.

  • @VenVidiVici And this Marie Chode lady is laughing all the way to the bank.

  • @VenVidiVici amen

  • I don't understand

  • first time i saw this, 4:46 made me want to cry. such a dramatic and amazing piece. i love it.

  • @MostNose Oh yes...and so many parts of this segment are deeply touching.

  • Comment removed

  • @MostNose you have to be kidding me...

  • @123omglol hahahahahahahaaaaaaa. yeah, i'm totally kidding. God. just because you think it's stupid doesn't mean that i do.

  • i don't understand, good contemporary dance always have a meaning, or symbolisms... there must have been lots of research and thinking before this piece was made and i can't seem to grasp it.... what is the meaning? please tell me

  • @mightypeter1

When you listen to music, do you ask yourself what the meaning is? Do you question Bach's motives and thoughts behind his choices? Or do you just listen and enjoy it? Dance can be the same way, it doesn't require a specific "meaning" anymore than music or visual art does, it can just be.

That being said, I personally like to think about how pointe shoes, harnesses, walkers, etc. all put the body in a new context. They both restrict and expand the body's capabilities.

  • @K750030

I think your right with the pointe shoes, and accessories. She wants to explore what a body can do.

But I still think there must be a leitmotiv. Bach is not contemporary, its baroque. At that time music expressed religion. Bach worked his whole life as a capelmaster. As times pass, music tend to try and describe thing. With the romanticism epoch and the end XIX beginning XX music shift from this start expressing more and more not just emotions, but actions, thoughts, way of life

  • @K750030

think of stravinsky rite of spring: with this piece he tried to express what life was at his beginning, he tried to describes how it was and translate it into music. So for this part i think youre wrong because now especially music i dont know for dance but for music it went from being to expressing things more and more concrete!

  • @K750030 and i think that it is the same with dance! it's not juste being, if it was art would be pointless! juste being involves not progressing and i think that with her work marie chouinard tries to make dance progress. as we can still be amazed at the performance of the dancers, which i am, i think there was a reason for each things. sometimes not, but some other times it does. even if the everything would have been made randomly the creator would have done it maybe to express randomness!!

  • what is this a music video for lady gaga ?

  • No. I wonder if Lady Gaga knows Marie Chouinard's work though?
