dang, watching that made me wanna go back and re-watch Spice and Wolf... This show was in my top-5 for quite a while... The artwork is very smooth and beautiful, the opening is very soothing, and the characters, Lawrence and Horo have got to be one of the best Duo ever created in anime. Their chemistry is through the roof and is the main driving force of this anime

Lawerence was like saying to her 'Sorry babe, but no deal'. Fortunately Horo was a able to morph into her wolf form, or this could have ended very badly for both of them.
acually it resembles the Iberian wolf rather well except for a few differences ; yet again its a novel/anime/manga so its not suppose to resemble reality to THAT extent.

This series is really hard to find, which is surprising because its one of the gems of Japanese animation. I do hope they dub it in english or even release it just with subs.
These days its all fighting and killing, gun battles and wizbang sorcerers, cocky villains and 0-to-heroes yadda yadda yadda. The animation is superb, the story is epic (but not overblown) and the voice actors deserve their paychecks.
2- if you were being persued by 20 armed men, with the intent of killing you and your friend, wouldnt you run too
3- this series isnt traditional sword and sorcery anime, its an educational (gasp) show about living in medieval times. with some fiction thrown in here and there

The Maned Wolf, The Eurasian Wolf or The Tundra Wolf which comes from Russia and it built for the cold which would suit Horo's homeland
