I agree, Robben Ford is in a league of his own and is way ahead of the pack. Though, I am a little confused in one of his instructional clips on the diminished scale. He demonstrates it in the key of G. Does anybody know what I am talking about? if so, talk to me. rms.smart
@roymsmart Hi Roy, yeah Robben sometimes uses the diminished (i.e. half step-whole step) scale over a seventh chord to make it sound hipper and maybe jazzier. This scale is one of the standard options over a Dom 7 chord in jazz. Bit of work do to make it sound smooth. I think in the blues form it sounds pretty cool when u play it (only) on the last bar before u change to the next chord.
@jamesm5744 Michael Tsarion is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecturer/author. Dr. Bill DEagle, Jordan Maxwell, Leo Zagami and Alexandre Dumas pere are highly informative as well. p.s. Melting Euphoria is similar to Ozric Tentacles and Gong.
@tommorellorules Alexandre Dumas pere wrote The man in the Iron Mask in 1848 and 'coincidentally' in 1902 The Society of Gesu(Jesuits) were expelled from France for the second time. Alexandre Dumas pere was born near Paris in 1802 and 'coincidentally' in the same year The Society of Jesu(Jesuits) were expelled from France for the third and last time. The Society of Jesus(Jesuits) have been expelled from 83 countries and their pope is ARAMIS AND HE IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO.
This is as good as it gets, the studio version can be found on his great Talk to Your Daughter CD or in my case cassette...a must for any serious guitar player to familiarize themselves with...!
Hey everyone,, the chord progression and tempo of the song at certain parts of the song are NOT easy to play, especially when you're in a live setting, and this song MUST be done right on, or it's smoothness is gone,, noticably so,, so please,, zip it and listen!!! Sorry for the reprimand folks!!
Woah, what a post and what a really fantastic video clip! I really love this tune and this has got to be the best version ever, even better than Robben's cut on his old REH blues vid!! Thanks for posting.
@vampiroangelico It's been a while since you asked this, but I don't see an answer so here you go. It's off the "Talk To Your Daughter" album. There are a lot of good tunes on that release. Robbin Ford is so good.
@bingefeller Correction, he covered it on Talk to Your Daughter. Nevertheless, one doesn't record and release a composition without knowing the chord progression. Sorry for the rant.
@gtrs4life To quote Robben Ford himself on his Blues and Beyond instructional. "...when we recorded it there I didn't play any chords on it. I basically approached it as a saxophone player would - I just played melodies and soloed. I really grew up playing that way a lot I always liked saxophone players. I probably didn't even know the chords to the song when we cut it....I learned to play it by ear...." Rant at Robben, not me.
That's true the ford's style fits perfectly with this song. But in my opinion, this vid also shows another thing : Compare with the studio version, It's hard to make a good live improvisation, even for Robben. Finalely he's human and i don't have to be shamed by my playing. That will make my day better.
Wow, I gotta get this full concert video somewhere - I have uploaded a video of me playing the main solo to this song, but I finally see how the master plays it!!! Thank you so much.

Love this tune! Apparently Robben didn't know the chords when he first heard it and so he used to ear and let it guide him.

@bingefeller What? Are you serious? I'm pretty sure he knows the chords. Afterall, he did record the original version with the Yellow Jackets.
