  • DDL makes everyone else he co-stars with look like shitty actors in comparison

  • I should probably link this as a response whenever I see someone calling Leonardo DiCaprio the best actor ever, lol

  • "I have to sleep with one eye open, and I've only got one eye, right" niice line

  • WILLIAM POOLE DIDN'T HAVE TO BE A GOOD PERSON HE JUST DIDN'T BELIEVE IN FOREIGNERS RUNNING THE COUNTRY AMERICAN'S BUILT THAT'S PART OF OUR COUNTRY'S PROBLEM TODAY LIKE THE MAN THAT KILLED POOLE WAS A COWARD LONG LIVE THE NATIVES.

  • @thenative19848 So long live the Native Americans, yeah? Because who else is native to that land?

  • @thenative19848 I agree, but I also know what you mean by "foreigners" are niggers, mexicans, russians and asians. Are Irish, polish and Italians foreigners too or are you ok with them.

  • "the blood stays on the blade"

  • You know the director is amazing when he can make it feel like ur not watching a movie.....but u feel like ur actually watching two people conversat with each other!

  • @MovieHound17 Not the director boss, the two men and one lass who sat there and lived that scene

  • @captainroger Yea but the whole feel and setting is set by the director, dont get me wrong.....DDL is the master of acting imo bar none no one better, but u gotta give it to MS!

  • "And I rose back up again, with a full heart and buried him in his own blood"

  • All those Irish turncoats that used to run w/ Priest, and now their w/ Bill.

  • @blubirdTN- agreed, and I usually love Leo DiCaprio (Departed) and Camron Diaz (Something About Mary), but this movie would have been sooooo much better if it put more emphasis on the villian, like in There Will Be Blood. I think for all the work Lewis did transforming into the Butcher, they did not give him enough screen time. Funny thing is, despite being a sadistic sociopath, Bill is the most honorable guy in the film , way more honorable than bitch ass Amsterdam, sneak thief hooker, or

  • @sleezyastheocean tht pussy johnny tht sold him out!

  • I remember seeing this in the theater. This speech, along with the entire performance, left me in shock, literally. Film is the great medium of our age. This speech is so full of feeling, conveys so much about who the character is and how much he believes in what he must do. I think this is better than Daniel Plainview. Plainview is really another part of "The Butcher".

  • Hello fellow cinephiles.

  • butcher sitting in that chair i dont think there is more iconic scene anywhere

  • I know your works. You are neither cold nor hot. So because you are lukewarm, I will spew you out of my mouth

  • incredible scene, performance, and film. Why isn't GONY more highly regarded?

  • @reboandzooty Too much focus on Leo & Cameron Diaz characters. If this movie thad revolved around Butcher Bill, a perfect movie.

  • whatever takes to your fancy my young friend

  • I'm convinced Bill knew who Amsterdam was from the start but hoped to mold the kid into his surrogate son, and when learning Amsterdam wanted to kill him, mold him into his new worthy enemy.

  • Oh i never get too much sleep gotta sleep with one eye open only got one eye right

  • I'm still pissed that he didn't get the Oscar for this brilliant performance.

  • @tyrehoward That's why he won for his overacting in TWBB

  • You know after I saw this scene for the first time I literally thought that Amsterdam would join Bill's cause for real. Daniel Day Lewis was that convincing in this scene that he made me, the viewer, forget about all the horrible things the character Bill the Butcher had done.

  • The volume sucks, I have all the dials set to 11 and still can't hear anything.

  • Great video quality, this makes a great scene even greater. Thank you

  • "i never had a son" damm ddl so good

  • The way Day-Lewis delivers the word "Fear" after the long pause is why he is the greatest actor of our times.

  • @RiG0d I agree! he's just amazing.

  • "He was the only man I killed worth remembering."
