  • Yeh I saw the movie. I think the media does what it always does in portrayal of Black Americans. It was just joke after joke, but the white pilots were all serious and restrained. Does that seem right? All the media shows is a jokey-jokey black guy, or a black guy who can play sports/dance/sing but nothing else.

  • Thanks for reviewing this!! I am most likely not going to watch this movie because I am hearing a lot of people saying its a low budget bust.

  • They should have put denzel Washington in it

  • Thank YOu! I rate this a 0 out of 10 because it doesn't deserve a 1! This movie was terrible and very cheaply done! Lifetime wouldn't even play this garbage!

  • Enjoyed your review. However your facts are off. Lucas put nearly $100 million into the film. He didn't direct it, Anthony Hemingway did. G.Lucas tried to get the film made for 30 years. Anyway your right the story deserved to be at a Saving Private Ryan level.

  • I like this review....lol

  • I've been reading books about WWII fighter pilots from both sides for decades and I agree with you JiaIreland. This movie is a joke.

  • Personally I would HOPE that this doesn't look like Avatar. It is set in 1944 for goodness sakes! Besides NO studio would back it which means that George Lucas had to pay for it ALL BY HIMSELF! There was no BUDGET! I loved the film. I think some blacks OVERTHINK everything! It showed these mena as real. I get tired of those old films about black people as if they were born all stiff and righteous. Nothing human about them. You cry at the situation not for them. This film showed men being real.

  • Jia, I hear what you're saying but you shouldn't give G.L. a hard time and here's why: When he initially approeached the movie company to do this movie, they turned him down flat saying that they wouldn't give hime the budget because "black action movies aren't marketable", so as a consequence, GL had to fund this movie with his OWN money, hence the reason why the effects aren't up to the standard of Avatar. He should be given props for putting his hands in his pocket as many wouldn't.

  • Yep good review. Soo looking forward to this one as well. I give it a 5 out of 10. Like you said the CGI was overboard. Too fake and too much of it. Poorly written. I couldn't believe how bad the acting was as well. It's just one CGI action scene after another with very little story about the characters or more important the history of the Tuskegee Airmen. I have the Tuskegee Airmen on DVD and it's much better than this film.

  • @Glashawk1 Thank you I received a lot of ppl getting mad at me about the review but I was like F it I am telling it like it is, no sugar coating this film was horrible and should of been light years better then the b/s they came out with! And right all the action scene pretty much where fake, and they had so many of them that took away from the movie, then all the unnecessary jokes throughout the movie was not right at all...making fun of something so serious.

  • @JiaIreland Lady you spoke the truth. I already suspected your points about the film from some of the clips I observed. To be frank, when I heard George Lucas was behind the project- I was already disappointed. The sad thing is that the original movie with Lawrence Fishburne really gripped me especially Cuba Gooding Jnr's death. You connect with the actors in that film. Agree, too many jokes - that was very disrespectful. This movie deserved the same Saving Private Ryan quality.

  • @JiaIreland ..Good reviewing job. You are appreciated.

  • @JiaIreland You know what, even before your sincere review, I already had doubts about the film. Simply the fact that George Lucas was behind the project. The version with Lawrence Fishburne was much better and serious. But some of us know why this movie did not get the glory like great films such as 'Saving Private Ryan, Glory etc

  • @Jialreland haha I know i wasn't being serious at all. But Kevin hart is the man I love that guy.

  • I actually heard Lucas put his own money into the movie because he was unable to get funding from Hollywood execs.

  • @blacksncommercials Yeah that doesn't excuse him for making trash

  • @JiaIreland True. I might have to pass, because I hate supporting bad movies, despite the history behind it.

  • @blacksncommercials yeah I know what you mean.

  • Thank you for being honest. I plan to see it tomorrow, although the review was not impressive and I'm not an action fan....Hum.

  • @blacksncommercials No problem and yeah go see it for yourself I just didn't like it and thought they could of done better

  • I Was Thinking The Same Thing SMH

  • @DiDeckTV Lol right that mess was just horrid thanks for commenting

  • so, evidently a movie that costs over 100 million dollars to make and market is low budget...interesting....

  • @dberaupilot Okay yeah 100 million dollars but the film looked like some trashy effects so apparently that isn't a lot of money when it comes to making MOVIES

  • @JiaIreland Avatar took way more thna $100 million dollars to make. Please keep that in mind. george Lucas also had to pay for the marketing as the studios wouldn't even market the film. I hate to see what black film you think is good. They usually aren't.

  • The Tuskegee Airmen was a movie on HBO in 1995 and it was excellent. It will give you the link and PM you and get the DVD.

  • @PillzBerry27 yes that movie was much better in my opinion then Red Tails

  • Not every movie has an Avatar type budget.

  • @piecemeal64 this movie would be ripped on no matter what if it had in yoiur face racism ppl would complain if it dident ppl would complain hey not every actor is denzel.

  • @piecemeal64 True but really this was just ridiculous

  • Also this was not a documentary it was a movie to inspire young african american boys

  • @superfinevids It's no just about inspiring young black boys its inspiring black people in general

  • Wow this woman is ignorant she doesn't understand that George Lucas had to basically make and fund this movie on his own. So she needs to stop hating and except it for the revolutionary film it was.

  • @superfinevids she ignores that just like studios would ignore this film if lucas dident fund this. but its okay when theres not another movie like this for 50 years you can thank ppl like this for it.

  • @skiesgrayful Seriously STFU and move on

  • @superfinevids You opinion, quite frankly I don't care. Don't watch my videos if you don't approve

  • Yeah I found it to be disrespectful to the tusgikee airmen too. That movie needed Bruce Willis and that guy who played mace windu to honor these guys. Though I find it hilarious that you paid for a movie just to support black people stuff rather than just see a movie because it was good.

  • @BlueFalcon86 dont worry with ppl like this they wont be making movies like that anymore lol

  • @BlueFalcon86 I support black films simply because there aren't many that come out compared to all THE OTHER MOVIES that come out. It wasn't really a good film either as you can see by how I ranked it.

  • @JiaIreland But the crux of my argument was that you support black films for the sole purpose of them being black films. There are shit tons of films with black actors in almost every film, so what exactly does a film need that would make a black film?

  • @BlueFalcon86 I support black actors, but with this virtually being an all black cast that's something to be proud about because most of the time there are no all black films...so yeah

  • @JiaIreland So you need black actors in order to make black films, and you support these films because of that? That sounds racist. If I made the same claim about white actors and movies I'd be in some pretty deep shit.

  • Lucas's CGI is horrible.... by the way Lucas spent $100 MILLION dollars! Its more Lucas is a horrible writer and has mindless crappy action - watch ALL the star wars prequels and the last indiana jones movie. It basically Lucas's "blueprint" now - he's basically a hasbeen.

  • @lucky44124 what good director in the past aint a hasbeen nowadays?

  • @skiesgrayful There is ONLY one... Martin Scorsese! He is the only old guy who still makes great films! But your right outside of him, no one.

  • @lucky44124 I see well okay 100 million dolllars must not be much in the rankage of movies then because all the affects and explosions where obviously fake and that was just horrid in my opinion...thanks for your comment

  • Thanks, I'll get the DVD as planned, and still support the movie in the process. I also have the ORIGINAL 'Tuskegee Airmen' DVD from 2000. Let me know what you think about that movie too.

  • @seand67 the problem is since they dont make alot of big budget films with a all african american cast what happens is if ppl dont go and see it they will say see nobody wants to see a all african american cast even if its the script or directors fault its not good so dont be shocked if this is the only movie about the tuskegee airman movie that is made in the next 50 years.

  • @skiesgrayful You might be right. I also predict that sales of this movie's upcoming DVD/BluRay versions (sure to have lots of bonus footage, etc) will add to it's overall success. A lot of people invested too much in home theater systems and prefer to watch movies at home. I'll probably wait for the 'Red Tails' DVD, which should drop in about 6 months or so.

  • @seand67 The original movie was amazing in my opinion it was more on point, but this RED TAILS was not taken seriously and then did it in a jokingly manner so it was just disrespectful in my opinion

  • @JiaIreland Thanks for your honest review Jia. Disrespectful ??? Damn...Not a good look. At any rate, I've had the original 'Tuskegee Airmen' DVD for years, and plan to revisit it very soon.

  • i got to go and see this movielllbut nice nice video and review lol you have a cold lol lol

  • @Str8UpReviews Yeah thanks lol but hey don't just take my view on it still go and check it out for youself

  • yeah that's nice, but serious question........do you like Michael Jackson at all.

  • @lexleo1520 Yes I love Michael Jackson and Usher

  • hav'nt seen it yet but thanks for update,i really liked the movie that showed on hbo years ago with lawrence fishburne.

  • @lovangels55 Yeah the one on HBO was great this one in my opinion could of been light years better.

  • @JiaIreland stop trolling and go watch that then

  • I plan on seeing the movie tomorrow but I thought I was the only one who thought that background looked generic as ever even in the commercial. I didn't want to say anything out loud cause folks always think I'm a "hater" lol

  • @sulebruty Lol right everybody is mad at me because I did this review and said what I said but its true its very generic and you can see that all the effects are obviously fake and all the commentary was too jokingly and disrespectful in my eyes

  • @JiaIreland I guess they think we should be so grateful to have a black movie, we shouldn't have any standards but after seeing the movie today, you were not far off at all. And where was Jazmine Sullivan? I know she "retired" but I was looking for to seeing her in the movie smh

  • @sulebruty Right oh like look here's a black film be happy, just like here's a black president be happy mess like really ain't a damn thing changed....none of our movies are taking seriously and everything is a big ass joke, its a slap in the face to be honest. I didn't even know that Jazmine Sullivan was supposed to be in the film but that's cool

  • Now that's what I want to see Kevin hart as mlk.

  • @drewrush92 Uhm that is just disrespectful that is why i used it as an example

  • @JiaIreland dont worry that will probaly be the last of those movies ever made in a few decades.

  • a slap in the face?? when was the last movie about them? that is more of a slap in the face!!!

  • ppl are going to complain either way either ppl were going to complain if it had way to much racism in it and turn non african americans off or if it wasent as racist ppl would complain about that reality is ppl again with complain either way.

  • I still gotta support

  • @tenchiyurameshi right that's how I felt about it too

  • basically it was a paraody?

  • @cjdistheman1 It isn't completely but you can tell they didn't take the seriousness of this topic and event

  • @blackbolt75 lol no i just found it disrespectful to the serious nature of the Tuskegee airmen....al

  • Red Tails was aight

  • @LAMONTWILLIAMS21 right that what I feel like its ok but should of been better

  • I AM SO PROUD AND LOVE THIS FILM BECAUSE IT WAS AN ALL BLACK CAST DOING THE LEAD ROLES IN A HOLLYWOOD FILM!!! I have never felt so proud, not only as a black film lover, but a film major student about to have a future in film...we need to see films like these more often

  • @iloveblack101 I understand

  • i love the film...i respect your review..I am happy that they casted the way they did because it opens the door that is long over due for those stars, we are so used to seeing them in CERTAIN ways that we get used to them doing the same thing over and over again...I agree with you on the special effects it could of been alot better, but I am very satisfied with the film, hope to see it a second time with my younger siblings

  • @iloveblack101 I completely understand, and respect your view point as well. It was nice to see new black actors, and other big name ones in a different light.

  • I like the movie although they could had a better casting.

  • You really didn't like it Jia? It isn't because of Lightning's love interest was it? LOL!

  • @blackbolt75 Nope because if you know me, and the videos I do I can care less about color lol shoot I date white guys myself...

  • You were right about the first part /of the movie. It's something you would see on made for television. I would rate it 8/10.

  • @blackbolt75 Yeah the first part and the explosions, then all the comedy just made me like okay definitely getting a low rating in my book.

  • @JiaIreland I paused it please don't spoil it!

  • @jjtiojohn12 Lol sorry

  • so keep your money right and wait for it to come out on blu ray or dvd...

  • @219garyind I would wait until the blu ray or dvd...I went to support the black film

  • @JiaIreland cool....
