I never saw this, how amazing is this !! only big big big respect for him. Also he raced after that still races and won a few weeks ago the Marathon of NY respect !
@DieKolkrabe Danish Jason Watt is just as big an inspiration... In 1999 he severed his spine in a terrible motorbike crash, paralyzing him from the chest down, and also giving him terrible pains that he can't get rid of. Despite all this, only 6 months later he was back in a racecar (custom build to allow him to drive, using only his hands). In 2002 he made history by winning the Danish Touring car Championship! The first to win a national championship with a severe handicap
@skynet091287 I'd forgotten about Jason Watt as well, another inspiration.
Sadly I can't see the FIA letting them near any of their 'top' series (Okay, Zanardi's in WTCC but that's not exactly a high level series in the whole scheme of it).
@DieKolkrabe It is sad, because Watt actually made it into Formula 1 with Jordan in 1999, the year of his accident. There are onboard videos on Youtube showing the way he drives his DTC car, using only hand controls! It's pretty facinating to watch...
His time would have qualified him 5th on the grid. What a man!

This is the type of oval racing we need in indycar today, not those stupid 1.5 mile high banked bowels that killed Wheldon

Zanardi's an inspiration to us all.
It's somewhere on the net that'd he'd have been in the top 10 on the grid in the race.
